  1. So we're guessing that, as they face us, Shaw's furthest out on the left, that's fonte in the middle next to Lovren and that's clearly Clyne drifting out wide on the right? Damn! Even just standing in a group for a chat, our defense is tight and in position this season.
  2. Sorry, the title was probably misleading to people who can't be arsed to read the first post! This isn't about that old British/English thing that's been done to death on here. It's about whether or not you'd ever hand over your British passport and take on another official nationality. There is, of course, no English citizenship, just British. How uncalled for. The bloke was just answering the question and was 100% relevant. Why get nasty and abusive? Lots of people find a home in another country. The things he misses are friends and family, so I'd say his priorities are pretty good. Being born English may have seemed like winning the lottery once, but I'd say many countries could lay claim to that title now. The UK is pretty far down on the standard of living charts. Surely by being born in a country where you can expect a better standard of life, you deserve that claim more.
  3. Forecast too.
  4. The problem is the other side. The British allow dual nationality, the Norwegians don't. You have to give up your other passport.
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24357407 I found some of these stories and comments quite interesting. Some bits I agreed with and some I didn't. You do see Britain and the British a bit differently once you live in another country and see it from an outsider's perspective. I've kept my British nationality and I can't see I'll ever give it up. The only difference it makes is that I can't vote in national elections, only local. My kids only have Norwegian passports, but they could swap them if they ever wanted to, maybe they'll be tempted if the new rules to make girls do national service go through. It would feel a bit wrong to call myself Norwegian, because I don't think I ever really would be and I don't need to be, but I can see why a lot of immigrants need citizenship. Being born British is privileged compared to huge parts of the world, but no more so than lots of other European countries or the US or Japan. Would you swap over if it were more convenient, or could you never take on another citizenship?
  6. But we are already spending the money on the team, it seems that that is not dependent on selling our best players. The sale of Bale by saints helped us pay for a team that plummeted to League One and also brought us Tommy Forecast. We could have equal success by selling Shaw. I'd rather we kept Shaw, as good a player as we'll get at full-back and continued to strengthen in other areas as we have been doing. Moving down a level at left back to fund other players who, in all likelihood will be at a lower level than Shaw, may well happen, but to say it's what you would choose is madness. We want to gradually improve all positions to the quality of Shaw, not use the Shaw money to buy a team full of lesser players.
  7. Why? I understand why or Shaw or Cortese might be tempted, but as a fan, why would you want to sell a player that we would be unlikely to replace with somebody of the same calibre? You do realise that even with 30m, we couldn't attract a player proven to be as good as Shaw, don't you? I don't care if the privately owned club make 30m in player sales, I want to see Shaw play for saints.
  8. Delusional. I just can't see spurs still being in one of the CL places at the end of the season.
  9. Fair enough with that actually. the thing about ferguson was a bit silly and detracted from a decent point you're making. I think it's about right that most fans felt he was treated a bit shabbily at the time, but as they've been happy with the end result, the bitter pill has been nicely sugar coated. I suppose the question is, if you could go back and decide, sack Adkins in the apparently poor way we did and move on as we have, or keep him, which would you choose? I don't know if you can compare people's immediate and emotional reaction, to their later more pragmatic stance when they're able to look at it a bit more calmly. This is a football forum, we get emotional highs and lows from watching grown men kick a ball around on some grass, it's not the place to look for people giving rational and reflected views as a first reaction. I can see why some people's views now aren't what they were in the first week of the sacking and it's not all down to recent success.
  10. This post only really makes sense if it was the same people making the comments both times. There are quite a few different people on here with different opinions. You can't call one group of posters immoral or short of memory with reference to what other people said a year ago. Drawing the conclusions you have is like me now taking you to task for the actions of the people you're moaning about now. You are one of the most regular posters on this site, which makes you typical of the sort of person posting here, do you take responsibility for how other people reacted to Adkins' sacking?
  11. It's not "hosay" either. This has been mentioned on here quite a few times. Portuguese isn't the same as Spanish.
  12. Agree with this. He still has a high value to us, so it would take a decent fee to get him, decent wages too. I'm not sure that would be value for the club he moved to, as they can't be sure how long he can perform at this level and he might take a while to settle at another club, it's not certain he'd do for them what he's consistently done for us. He'd be an expensive risk for another club. I don't think he'd like to have to start proving himself all over again at another club at this stage in his career either. I don't imagine he's under any illusion that he'll be first choice in the PL until the day he retires, but I am sure he'll work hard and will have value to us for some time yet, even if that is going to be increasingly from the bench.
  13. If I were picking who I "like"' I'd play cork instead of Wanyama, because I think he was doing a better job in that position, and I'd play Ramirez instead of JRod, because he gets more goals and assists per game and we need goals. However, I'm a big fan of letting the same players stick together as long as things are going well, so I'd play the same team again.
  14. i was considering getting this sorted before the season, but I have to say the free streams have been exceptional so far, much better than I've had other years. Think I'll stick with them for a while.
  15. I bet Kraken is sitting staring at this one wondering if he should still do his usual post saying he agrees with Turkish.
  16. Last season we were all on the bus, I think we're off it now, but Palace won't be parking it. We struggle when teams park the bus more than we did last season when we were on the bus.
  17. Sadly we were better without him on the day. Would feel sad for it if he lost his place, because losing his place for saints could lose him his place in the England team. That can't be MP's responsibility though, he has to go with the team he thinks will do the job.
  18. Liverpool didn't feature much in the highlights, did they?
  19. I agree, I had wanted Lambert to come off for Ramirez, so that we could see what he could offer this season, but I can't imagine that Ramirez could have added what Davis did. He really brought all of the midfield impetus all the way to their box and made real attacking chances. Lovren and Fonte seem to be this season's "Schneiderlin and Cork", if that makes sense, they are the breakthrough partnership that's making us a better team. Sadly Schneiderlin and Wanyama feels a bit of a step back from Schneiderlin and Cork. Wanyama isn't a bad player, but Cork has already proved he can play that role very effectively and wanyama really hasn't matched that yet. I think Cork needs to start and Wanyama needs to win his place a bit more. Boruc was tested enough to have proved that he really is the real deal at this level. Shaw was great going forward, but should we blame him for Sturridge being wide open in acres of space time and time again. That seemed to be how most of their best attacks began and Lovren was having to take chances by getting stuck in to stave off the danger. Shaw was a joy to watch going forward though. Clyne was excellent in defence and attack and along with Boruc would have been MoM without Lovren's immense display. Osvaldo is clearly very good and I hope he gets his goal soon, because he seems a bit too desperate to do something spectacular at times, when a simple pass to another, open player would give better odds. Lallana and JRod didn't do much wrong, but just couldn't break through their defence. Wasn't it lovely to see JWP easily dispossessing Gerrard?
  20. Have any of the "embarrassed" people actually read the article? I just did and it doesn't say what the OP told us it did at all. More "mong board" overreaction to things that never happened.
  21. "Look into the Eterna watch as it swings back and forth, your eyelids are getting heavy, sleep, when you awake you will believe you are joining a team that is ready to get into Europe and will challenge for the title in the not too distant future..."
  22. It's true. It's unintelligible gibberish.
  23. I'd say the one who looks like a "mong" in that post is View From the Top. It's a silly over the top knee jerk reaction to a prediction made by a grand total of TWO posters , (NickG's post does not predict top 6). Nearly the entire first page is filled with posts saying that top six is unlikely, yet in his view we are "infested" with (two) posters who think top 6 is likely. What this forum is full of is kneejerk, over the top reactions to minority views.
  24. I wish he would stop just being "potentially good". i like him, but it's been over a year now and he really has shown very little end product in a team that has plenty of possession and creates a lot of chances. When the opportunities are there, who do you blame for the ball not ending up in the net? Also, Ramirez may be disappointing in relation to his fee, but his goals per game ratio is better than JRod's, so in theory (not always the same as practice) if we want more goals, Ramirez has been a better bet so far than JRod. He can't live off the glory of a streak of 3 or 4 good games for much longer. He looks like he could be good, but that's not going to be enough for much longer, surely? I'd like to see him win his place in the starting team.
  25. This thread really does demonstrate the depths of delusion on the board, but not like you might think. This thread is the source of the oft quoted comments that we will finish top six, we've heard about it on loads of threads haven't we? How the deluded posters on this board claimed we'd be a top six side? It's provoked many, many derisive posts, threads have been started referring back to it. Now look back at the first page of this thread and count how many people thought it would happen, must be loads mustn't it? Fifteen? Twenty? Maybe more? It was two. Itchen Dan and Avenue Saint, that's it. For some reason they are now being referred to as a brigade. Brilliant. There are about twenty or more posts saying it will be otherwise. "The deluded mong board" we are always hearing about was almost unanimous in saying it was unlikely.
