Stephens is League One level. Vokins and Slattery might be too, or they might be great. O’bafemi has barely played in the top flight. Targett and JWP are make-do players. Valery could become very good. Shaw is class. So that’s one player who is definitely good enough for a top PL team out of that lot.

The squad is an absolute mess. Three GKs and our best one is probably the worst paid. A right back with half a season and a right back we want to sell. One left back and a completely untried youngster. 5 centre backs, of which only one can run at any speed, one is awful at defending and one has been pushed out previously for ineptitude and bellendry. Two central midfielders and one who is desperate to leave and seems like a massive bellend. Loads of attacking midfielders, but only one of them is any good consistently. Djenepo hopefully adds to that. Upfront we are ok if people stay fit.

We concede goals because: we give the ball away cheaply, we have centre backs who switch off, we have central midfielders who struggle to live with powerful runners. I don't see any of that changing much unless we upgrade our players. Doesn't mean we will do as badly next season. I think 10th - 14th is realistic. But teams which finish 10th - 14th have deficiencies.
