I think people need to consider that Puel may well not be getting the sort of input from the management structure above him that previous managers got. If everything is in limbo pending a sale then his job may be harder than it should be.

Wanyama and Schneiderlin used to win a lot of headers / second balls which helped. Romeu competes well aerially but our other midfielders and wingers offer nothing when it comes to competing for those second balls (with the slight exception of Boufal, who is actually more physical than people give him credit for). We desperately need someone physical - doesn't have to be a man-mountain, just someone quick to react and combative - to give us more of a platform alongside Romeu and another central midfielder who is willing to get up near Gabbi and can actually shoot. As The9 said though, I think most of our problems have come from poor decision-making and execution. You can drill players as much as you like on certain patterns and on shape but when fluid situations arise in games it's all about decision-making and composure.

The thing is... other than being able to occupy the same seat consistently, there isn't that much benefit to having a ST. The principal benefit is certainty of ticketing at major cup matches and away matches but the major cup matches are a remote enough occurrence not to sway many people and it's very rare that an away is in such high-demand that an ST is a must. The financial benefits are not really significant when weighed against the period covered by an ST. I will probably renew but part of my thinks, "why not just pick and choose?". If I didn't then I might end up going to most games anyway but, even if I did, I probably wouldn't be much worse off (if at all).

Yes. I like him and I can see why we signed him when we did. It was the "meltdown" summer and having a few players who knew the ropes in the English league and weren't afraid to put themselves about was important. However, ability/attribute-wise he isn't suited to the direction we seem to want to go in on the field and is a squad player at best. We have too many forwards making up the numbers. I would consider any serious offer for Long, Rodriguez or Austin. The three of them are probably on something like £160k a week in aggregate and that's just too much for a club our size to commit to unproductive players. I imagine we would be unlikely to get a serious offer for Austin due to concerns over fitness, so if next season's central striking options were Gabbi, Austin, Gallagher / Seager + a new signing I think that would be ok.

I couldn't care less if that's what you do, although arguably you're the mug for shouting about it. My point is that you somewhat lose the moral high ground to feel justifiably aggrieved about ticketing arrangements when it transpires you are in the touting trade yourself and are bumping up the cost of tickets for true fans. Just for perspective, anything north of £50m would make him the most expensive defender ever. Is he better than Stones? Yes, IMO. Does that mean we will get £60 - 70m for him? Doubtful, unless there is a serious bidding war. I can't see Man City wanting to go huge after their abysmal CB recruiting efforts (Mangala, Otamendi etc...) so I reckon barring an overseas super-club bid it will be Chelsea for him. Of course, I would like us to tell him he is staying for another year.
