Indeed. It is a symptom of unconscious latent racism IMO. Wouldn't say the same thing about a white guy from South America who had spent recent times in Italy.

This simply isn't true. In fact he consistently plays the sort of forward balls, round the corner, creating openings that Schneiderlin doesn't play enough. Instead Schneiderlin will often attempt the 60 yard cross-fielder to ill-effect. Don't get me wrong, MS is a good player and we are lucky to have him in L1, but Hammond's passing is much better than a lot of people realise. As to who starts on Saturday... dunno!

Basically, anyone who would have taken the money is a classless oik destined for a life of idiocy.

And since you mentioned public schools... If there's one single move in recent decades that coupled academic elitism with financial muscle, it's Labours abolition of the Assisted Places scheme which allowed the brightest children from humble backgrounds to flourish and achieve their potential.

For games. Not "off".

Phil, just because you study philosophy, for example, it does not follow that you aspire to be a philosopher when you leave university. I think you will find that many lawyers did history, english, philosophy etc first degrees and honed skills doing them that are in demand in the legal world. Many kids, frankly, won't really know what they want to do in the "real world" when they are 18. Not sure if you mentioned the golf or not. I suspect you probably did somewhere. I can assure you that no one gives a toss but, if it makes you feel better, well done.

I agree. However the key is the "furthering" bit. Unfortunately most people at university are not intellectually elite any more.

Corp is clearly a prize **** in real life. I have never seen anything in any of his posts to suggest he isn't a smug, conceited ****lehead who virtually everyone who knows him despises. Not even a glimmer. Yet he continues to play the smug card, clearly oblivious to what a complete and utter **** the world at large thinks he is. How very sad.

TBF, the UCAS form is only the "foot in the door" for the degrees in the highest demand. Most of them will also require an interview and some sort of additional work-based test.

I have a philosophy degree. At least I think I do. I am a Pyrrhonic sceptic so I have my doubts.

Indeed. Once the powers that be finished dumbing down school education they moved on to the unis...

On a related-ish topic... How **** are England? The manager and the vast majority of the players don't have a clue.

The problem is the number of people at universities. They should be for the academic elite and most of them, currently, are not. If this policy causes a decline in the number of people at university then good. I do worry about how the poorest and the lower middle classes will perceive this but structural reform is necessary. The only viable alternative would be to just compulsorily close down a load of the pointless universities but that would hardly be fair to the people studying or working at them; let the market decide.

Could be really good as long as not too many idiots go. The main problems will be: The consumption of foul smelling food; Badly dressed people; People who are not quite developed enough to interact with others in a nice, charming and well-mannered way; The austere surroundings; and The poor beer. Having said that, 5 minutes with Paul Wotton would clearly make it all worthwhile!

I received the same email. I've replied suggesting a charge of Bringing the Game Into Disrepute might be more appropriate.

On the contrary, I think the potential reward to the club from promotion is greater than the potential reward of selling him with only 6 months left on his contract. If we are ever going to achieve the owner's vision, we need to get promoted. That is more important than turning over a couple of mill from a player sale. For that reason, given that he's an important first XI player, I can't see him leaving in January (unless we are 20 points clear of third place!) - we will refuse all realistic offers. He may well not want to sign a new contract, which is up to him, but I'm sure he will see out the season with us.
-
I hope he stays because he's a great player who can score nice goals but I would understand if he wants to play in the Premier League but maybe he would want to stay with us if he thinks we're going to get promoted but we will see! :smug:

Well, I think that was the point that the alternative CVA the other firm prepared was trying to get at. It does slightly ignore one commercial reality though which is that if that £48m was ringfenced no one would be interested in owning PFC.

Don't get me started on that. Anyone who wears a scarf when the warmest top they are wearing is a t-shirt needs to think long and hard about their life.

Don't be a spazz. He's worse than Pekhart, Gasmi or Robertson is he? Or Todd? Or Potter? Or Spedding? What a tool.

Turkish, good observation. I think some guidance is in order. Dear reader, please aspire for style like this: and less of this filth:

I was going to do a mock "internet warrior" post earlier but I was right to just wait...
