  1. I keep having to sit next to ghastly people so hopefully it's a nice cheap free-for-all and I can get a nice ST seat in the Itchen or something.
  2. pfc123 has a very limited understanding, evidently. I suggest we leave him to enjoy bathing in the warm glow of Pompey's brand new secure future.
  3. He is returning to work, yeah? Sounds like a "back to work" meeting rather than a disciplinary? The fact is, even if they wanted to, they would be very cautious about dismissing someone with a disability (and it sounds like your mate might have one). Do they know that he stabbed himself? I imagine they are pretty concerned, justifiably, by the sounds of it, of the possible implications of having him at work if he is mentally unstable to the point of being a danger to himself or others. I think it would be sensible to try to find out exactly what the point of this meeting is before formulating a "strategy".
  4. Come off it. He has hardly made any serious errors in the last couple of seasons - certainly not ones where you could lay the blame for a goal at his feet.
  5. That's my main gripe with him. Whenever he has a bit of space and knocks it out of his feet the attempted ball is nearly always highly predictable and has a pretty poor success rate. He hardly ever trys something a bit inventive. Nearly all our good through balls from CM come from Hammond.
  6. Economists, generally, are pretty rubbish at predicting the future. If you were to test, to any scientific rigour, economic predictions that weren't qualified to the point of meaningless or generalised to the point of uselessness you would probably soon conclude that the predictive value of economic "experts" is pretty minimal. However, he might be right.
  7. ps - PFC123, are you Peter Storrie?
  8. Except your only "outgoings" in your calculation are wages. Wages at 100%+ of turnover from normal operations = hello again, Mr Admin Man. I imagine you intend to spend some other money too, or is every penny through the door otherwise net profit in PFC world? Face it - you still have a completely unsustainable financial model. Your club is worth nothing, your resources are meagre and the only reason the current owner is still there is to try to extricate himself from a rather large mess with as little damage as possible.
  9. It's not ridiculous at all. Chamberlain is a 17 year old playing at Saints, as was Theo. Let's not pretend Theo's career hasn't been a disappointment for someone with so much promise though. Do you think Barca, Real Madrid and Man U would still be willing to pay top dollar for him now? And a "key player" for Arsenal? Really?
  10. TBF, I don't have a clue who plays in League One apart from our players and the players we are linked with. The only player I've noticed this season is O'Grady of Rochdale who had a really good game and he is a striker.
  11. I guess I'm calling you a d'inlo then!
  12. Lol - I'm sure the source of their debt will be a well respected financial institution and not some shady "businessman" with no obvious rationale to lend to a small-time financially crippled English football team.
  13. Agreed, no point starting him every game as we have plenty of other decent wingers. I am genuinely excited about what he could achieve though.
  14. Has van Gobbel made a comeback for them?
  15. Exageration? BBC said it was a bit tasteh, so I've tuned in for the second half.
  16. "a fresh start"
  17. Footballing sanctions are nothing to do with the company though are they? They attach to the club. The new company owns the club. I'm not saying a points penalty will be applied in relation to those cases but the liquidation etc should have no impact on the situation.
  18. 'Owzat for a goal?!
  19. Also, at Higginbottom's hair. Didn't know he had it in him.
  20. Pathetic refereeing. You can't seriously tell me the ref wouldn't have booked a Stoke player for Neville's challenge on Etherington? But, because it's Neville and it's Man U he lets him off. Scandalous.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9092349.stm WTF is he talking about? "One of the best teams to come here"? Probably the worst I've seen this season (although I didn't see Tranmere).
  22. Why would you stop going because players are paid more? ****ing weird. I'd rather money went to players than to criminal owners or shareholders. At the end of the day it's up to the management of clubs to take a view on what they can afford to pay. Anyhoo, Rooney's not even in the squad today so good value for money for Utd there!
  23. We won't get a better 'keeper than Kelvin in the third division FFS.
  24. At home v Shrewsbury. Play the ressies.
