  1. Stupid title. Nothing at all to do with the subject. Can see why the mods changed it. "I know, I'll do a thread about Westwood but call it 'See post #26'". Rubbish.
  2. Within 3 years Saints and Bournemouth will be above them in the league.
  3. What was it?

    Strachan

I also think it is silly to say Strachan is a "legend". He's no more a legend than Chris Nichol but you don't hear that very often.

    Good sport!
  6. I agree that he probably has no formal qualifications and I also agree that he isn't the sort of person, or doesn't seem to be (I don't know him), who you would normally ear-mark as coaching material. That said, if he can communicate his methods, and they work, then he could have a positive influence. I don't think you need to be one of the coaching ubermensch, up there with Wotte, Poortvliet and Sturrock, to teach people how to take penalties.
  7. I have absolutely no doubt that Fabio Capello has no intention whatsoever of appointing Matt Le Tissier as a coach. However, I also have no doubt that if he did appoint a penalty coach, the criteria would be "someone very good at penalties and able to impart some wisdom" not "someone with loads of caps who has a comparable itnernational career to the most high profile players in the England squad".

  9. What a load of garbage. Was Benitez a better player than Gerrard? Were Mourinho, Huddink, Ancellotti better players than Lampard? You do those players a great disservice by suggesting they don't have the humility and respect to give credence to a coach that Capello decides to put in front of them regardless of how good that coach was as a player.
  10. Oh crikey.... not MLT and money again...!
  11. It is a strange situation that is hard to unravel from the outside. The most generous analysis IMO is this: Faraj took a punt for a small outlay and gambled that he could obtain enough short-term finance to see them through the season, ensure Prem survival and sell on once they had got their cost base down. There are plenty of other scenarios one could guess at that seem more plausible though...!
  12. So much for Rupes' "world class" facilities. Anyway, has anyone sent the pdf link to a skate yet?
  13. Black pudding my arse.
  14. Seconded. Also, my favourite poster is currently Ron Manager.
  15. at the comments. All the classics are in there... "It'll be fine, support the team PUP" "A steward told me..." But this one; this one is golden: Remember when you set up the first direct debit? Any company? Mortgage, utility bills, council tax, etc, how many were paid out first time? even second time for some. This could all be down to setting up problems, let`s see what happens Jan, then start to worry. PMSL!!! AAAhhhhh!! Hahahahaha.
  16. You often hear people claim that on here but I don't think it's true. The half-season ticket starts on the 9th Jan against Huddersfield. 11 matches for the price of 8 (roughly).
  17. Seriously though, it would actually be a nice gesture and I'm sure he would appreciate it.
  18. Anyone who donates £50,000 or more could nominate a school where the kids all get season tickets for life or something similar.

Don't joke. Seriously, it's not worth the risk. Unless the chap interviewing you is a right "geezer" and has already struck up a conversation with you about the footy etc... just don't bother. Especially to a panel, which is bound to contain a mix of personalities. Also, don't feel tempted to fill silences (which I suspect is what you mean by the tendency to crack a gag). Answer any questions concisely and with certainty (even if you are not certain) and then shut up and await the next one. Remeber, you have already passed at least one hurdle to get there (I presume). They want to hear what you have to say.
  20. Daily Mail says Pulis tried to head-butt him.
  21. Minty is Rupert Lowe!!!
  22. Can we please stick to the important things such as how to calculate the present value of a points penalty (deduct it from total)? Much more important than the structure of space time. This thread has actually raised an interesting question out of the pro rata school of thought, which is this: If the League season is actually truncated (ie a team ceases to exist -possible if, for example, they have unserviceable short-term liabilities, a succession of owners without funds to invest, a convoluted ownership structure and debts to the treasury - ), would the penalty be reduced on a pro rata basis to reflect the fewer number of matches? I suspect not but in principle, it should be.
  23. Yes, it's clearly true to say that a 10 point penalty applied over 1,000,000,000,000 games is not a problem whereas a 10 point penalty applied over 2 games is a disaster. Don't think anyone would argue with that! The point is that I am assessing how we have done so far. We have done the 6th best. How do I know this? I added 10 on to our total and found out that we had scored 32 points which only five teams have bettered. Then, the pro rata fella said: Pro-rata we are on 27.65 points, in 11th place just below Millwall... That is of no use to man nor beast.
