This thread was not about Saints, which is why I put it in here; it's about attendances in general and the number of terrible ones in the Cup on Saturday which I happen to think were a shame. I can happily understand people not bothering if it's £50 a ticket. Wigan v Hull was £15 for adults, yet 5,000 people turned up. That must be a worry to those clubs and to the FA.

It's a perfectly fair (and some might even dare to venture, interesting) point to note that there are clubs in the lower leagues that are much "bigger" than a lot of clubs in the Premiership. In fact, there seems to be a preponderance of "small" clubs in the Premiership. That was what the thread was about but you seem to want to make a different point. Which is fine. That sort of scattergun approach would run the risk of earning yourself a reputation as a timewaster. It would also irk a player somewhat when the deal suddenly goes cold because it looks like something is going to happen elsewhere only to be resurrected again when that one falls through. To pursue a few top targets initially is the right thing to do IMO. We have a week until our next game and then another week until the game after that. We then have 10 days until a further League game. Chill!

I would probably take Lambert and Connolly over Beckford and Becchio. I might take Harding over their left back. Other than that, they are better than us in every position IMO.
