I agree with Alpine on this; our midfield is ****. Schneiderlin is pedestrian and innefective, as is James (although he can deliver a good set-piece (although so can many professional footballers and so can I)). Lallana is not a left winger although has done an admirable job there this season. Our best right winger is usually on the bench.

If you honestly think Schneiderlin is one of the best two or three midfield players in the division I suggest you need to give your head a wobble.

I've voted yes assuming we'll be in League One next season. He is better than League One standard. If we get promoted then it's hard to say as we will have lots of options open to us (assuming the investment level steps up a gear also). Depending on who comes down from the Prem and goes up, we may well be the most attractive option outside the Premiership for players.

I doubt very much that this is the plan. Seaborne was probably signed as competition for places this season with a view to stepping in to Perry or Jaidi's shoes next season.

Cover definitely IMO. Connolly and Waigo are Championship quality players who can play alongside him, and Lallana could also play centrally if we really needed. However, if Lambert got injured we would be pretty easy to dominate.

It's obviously nothing to do with the media as this has been an open secret for some time. We wouldn't have wasted our time for this long and would have simply gone for Seabourne earlier. I suspect Ward was #1 target but Seaborne became #1 target. Why? Don't know, but I'm confident it would have been a footballing decision (and I include player contracts, medicals etc in that) rather than a reaction to the story being in the press.
