  1. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/10275547/the-premier-league-race-for-champions-league-and-europa-league-qualification "Defeat to Sevilla and an eighth-placed Premier League finish would see Liverpool miss out on European qualification altogether" Finally the penny has dropped. Maybe they have been reading our thread(s).
  2. If anyone can do it it's Hants.
  3. Certainly not just down to luck, but their low number of injuries has played a major part of their success. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/leicester-have-been-the-luckiest-team-with-injuries-this-season-a6999741.html
  4. I have to disagree; I think Cuco has a much better delivery into the box, and is a better attacking player, but Cedric is more reliable defensively. The Twente's fans scathing criticism of Cuco made me think we had bought an Ali Dia. But I've been pleasantly surprised, and think he has potential. I don't understand the slagging off he seems to get after every single match he plays (most of which we drew or won).
  5. "I'm proud to be manager of Southampton. Everyone wants to be part of this" makes me more confident than "I'm not proud to be manager of Southampton. No-one wants to be part of this."
  6. You can practice before the final by cheering them on against West Ham. http://store.manutd.com/stores/manutd/en/c/fashion/accessories/scarves
  7. Nice post, and you can add Paul Mitchell there. I didn't agree with Rupert most of the time, but he was spot on about those north London yobbos.
  8. Not to mention all the failed 1000s to 1 bets since ... forever.
  9. No. It only goes to 5 CL + 2 EL if Liverpool win the EL final and end up in an EL position (so no-one gets punished). If they win the EL final and finish lower than an EL position (e.g. 8th if Utd win the cup) then we get 5 CL + 3 EL. Club in 7th is still in.
  10. If Utd win the Cup 7th is assured of EL, except in the mathematically possible but highly unlikely case of Utd finishing 8th.
  11. Bugger, I was hoping we'd be 5000/1
  12. You remind me of someone.
  13. The bottom line is we want Utd to win their remaining matches, and Palace to lose theirs. Come on Utd!
  14. No it doesn't. Them winning EL doesn't make any difference for us. Not necessarily. If the table ends up like this: Leicester Spurs Arsenal Man City West Ham Liverpool Saints Man Utd then we're out! Either Utd or Palace get the EL spot, along with West Ham and Liverpool (unless they win EL, but that won't help us).
  15. Correct. But if Utd win the Cup and finish above us it doesn't matter in which position they (and City) end up, we would get EL provided we finish in 7th or higher.
  16. Even better: 04) Liverpool and Sevilla draw after 120 minutes, and the decisive penalty kick is just like this:
  17. Then they still go into the CL as an extra (5th) qualifier, and everyone else is unaffected (except maybe the CL seeding, but who cares).
  18. For a club our size (and Leicester's) this is the most crucial thing I'd say. Of course luck is involved, but if we compare Leicester and Arsenal's record this season in this regard it appears to me that there's more than luck involved.
  19. You're not missing anything, that is correct. But we do need to cheer Man Utd in the cup. Which may be painful for some of us.
  20. Utd yes. But it doesn't matter if Liverpool win or lose. It only goes down to 2 EL if they finish in an EL spot but qualify for CL. For example, if they win EL and finish 8th they enter CL and the PL gets the usual 4 CL + 3 EL, plus a bonus CL for Liverpool (so 5 CL + 3 EL total). But if they win EL and finish 7th (say) and Utd win the cup, then their EL spot gets converted to CL for them, but no extra EL spot is opened up below them. So instead of 4 CL + 3 EL we get 5 CL + 2 EL. No-one gets punished, but 8th doesn't get rewarded either.
  21. They don't have to mention EL. Liverpool would go into CL (an extra CL spot as they say) and everything else is unchanged.
  22. As long as Utd win the cup.
  23. 4 CL + 3 EL is the usual maximum, not 4 CL + 4 EL, as far as I know. If a team qualifies for CL through winning the CL or EL then it can stay at 4 CL + 3 EL, or possibly go to 5 CL + 3 EL or 5 CL + 2 EL.
  24. Doesn't matter if Liverpool win or lose. It only goes down to 2 EL if they finish in an EL spot but qualify for CL.
