But an application to bring forward £2.5m in parachute payment instalments cannot be ruled out — and it would be in the interests of football chiefs to keep Pompey alive until at least the end of the season. The last thing the PL would want is for the DFCSBs to scrape into the playoffs, and somehow get promoted to foul their league once again. Forwarding £2.5 million to the Cheats, to keep them going until the end of the season, would make that a possibility (remote, but not impossible).
