Chris Marsden was over 30 when he got his try in the Premiership. He wasn't the first and won't be the last. He came into his own up against class players. I sincerely believe Billy would have done the same and silenced the non believers. I saw nothing on Sunday to make me believe that Mayuka is going to be anything special.

Dreadful, absolutely dreadful. The kit that'll be remembered as the one that took us back down to the Champioship. At this rate we'll be playing next season in pink and white polkar dots, shirts and shorts.

Reading people's opinion on fitness, I quote one of the players talking about pre-season who said with Adkins pre-season wasn't about running and exercise but was 100% football. Maybe a biy of Strachan's running up dunes wouldn't have done any harm. I've been shocked getting the feeling from players on Twitter that the international break, the other players have beeen given time off. I don't begrudge them time off when we're winning matches but meethinks this period would be well used to get things right and improve fitness even more,. I hope I'm wrong but the players on Twitter don't give this opinion.

For myself personally, at this stage, I no longer trust in Nigel Adkins. I hope he recalls his treatment of Billy Sharp especially when Nigel gets treated the same by Nicola Cortese. Billy Sharp was a family friend and he played for Adkins previously., If this is how he treats his friends, I certainly have no faith in the man. He knew our failings last season, yet to date, has failed to adequately resolve them. Top heavy in strikers and Adkins gets rid of 2 of the best goal scorers.

Just heard on the radio that Liverpool have the option of recalling Carroll in January. Seems this is a common clause in season long loans. Wondering whether we at Saints have this option of recalling Billy Sharp in January. Would be reassuring if we were able to do so.

If we really after these relics from past glory in building our team to compete for Europe, exactly what message would the club be sending out about our intentions?

Well Strachan would never have been without Paul Telfer, who, love him or hate him, was a exemplary professional who gave every bit of himself for the squad. If I'm not wrong, Telf's still fit and playing football. Age doesn't matter if a player is fit, keen and has a keen eye for the game.

I have to say a huge thank you to each and everyone for these statistics of our opening season results. It does give our current dilemma some prospective and few previous seasons saw so much money spent on improving our squad. Yet the Premier League standards have moved on and rarely was the standards higher than they are at present. It's not the end all but the fact we didn't address the goalkeeping position and defense does leave me concerned more than in the past.

I wonder if someone, namely David from Sweden or another who keeps all the club records would be so kind and post the first 10 results from our 27 years in top flight. I recall that most years we were pretty poor getting off th mark, but having the records for all to ponder over might put some prospective into how our first season back in the Premier League might pan out. Delgado was going to be huge for us, put us on a whole new level. I can recall all the excitement, the claims we were to become a top club. In leaving the Championship Saints had the best strike force, yet it's these players we've discarded, brought in new strikers. Our defence let us down for a big part of last season, yet also Adkins choice of players and substitutions. Maybe Ramirez is going to be what Van Persie was for United yesterday and the defence will get by. Sadly I don't believe this will be the case and failing to get hold of a first rate goalie and central defenders is going to be our undoing. A couple of injuries and we shall relive the Michael Svensson scenario but worse.

Insinuating Ricky, Puncheon and Lallana were exhausted and couldn't have held on another 10 minutes is complete nonsense. They were doing a great job and bringing on one of two others to put on more pressure would have sealed the game. This isn't the first time Adkins has lost us a game with his inability to read the game from the touchline. It nearly cost us promotion, certainly lost us the Championship. He's got to sort himself out or won't be around long. Perhaps he's being badly advised on the bench. Whatever it is he's screwing up big time.

Game after game Adkins skews up a magnificent team performance, flow of play and takes off our best players, allows our opponents to get on top. Why oh why, can't he leave the team playing a blinder and spoil it all?

How about a Mayuka version of the 1990's dance hit MACARENA. Would give a great atmosphere

I, for one, think Jason is going to be a revelation this season. He's getting better with every game he plays and we're all going to be pleasantly surprised what an asset he'll be.

Not happy over the goalkeeper/centre back situation. I'm left with the feeling that too much has been put into too few quality players, that we're top heavy on strikers and lacking in a solid defense. Time will tell and the biggest pressure is now on Adkins to put these players together into a winning side that will keep us up and progress in the direction of the Champions League. After all Alan Pardew has set a highly desirable precedent

Nixon reporting Jack Butland could go for as little as 6 million. Isn't that what we offered for him?

It is mental. The one striker who found the back of the net in pre-season. Where is Adkins sense of loyalty, especially as Billy was a former player of his. Has to be a personal reason in it, as he'd have really done well for us this season with decent players feeding him. Rarely felt so gutted on losing a player just as his moment of glory awaits.

Heskey linking up with Michael Owen, may be something in them both arriving. Pinky and Perky.

Whereas the quality of players we're signing is beyond doubt, the big swing towards foreign players weakens our hand. Big Sam has got it right signing British players. We look to end up with half the team away on international duty or African/Asian Cup, not forgeting Ramadan 2 times a year.

That's a lot ofaccommodation to find for the housing department. No wonder these deals take such a long time. Then there's pampering to partners, in laws and schooling for the off breeds. When does this window close? How it would have been simpler had this all been done a couple of months ago.

A sign of the times when a decent poster like Minty comes around to posting such foul words.

If the club for any reason decide to sell our man Ricky, I for one will not be supporting Saints in future. Ricky's our good luck charm. He's brought so much to the club and deserves this opportunity to see what he can do in the Premier League.

I reckon this is going to be a tough game. Look the run around they gave Spuds last season. In fact it was Redknapp's inability to finish them off that lost him any chance of the England job. Stevenage are even stronger this season.

Read today Rodgers at Liverpool is ready to let Joe Cole go as Cole doesn't feature in his plans. He's the type of older player that might fit in very nicely. Question is: Does he still have the speed to complete in the Premier League after a year out on loan in France?
