  1. Got to say, I wasn't expecting any change out of Everton. I know we've turned them over a couple of times lately, once via a couple of own goals, but they aren't a side we regularly do well against.
  2. Fair comment, but tbh I've thought that Pellè is pretty poor with his head. Was amazed when he glanced that one in for italy.
  3. They weren't interested in last season. They were interested in what might potentially happen this season. There are very fine lines, and at the moment their decisions look to have paid off. The team on the pitch isnt the whole story, its also what you can do about who you might think could be competing with you, whether that's raiding them for their best players (pool) or loaning players to their competitors who won't be troubling you (the Chelsea model.)
  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that. Been saying it for ages, and always get shouted down for it.
  5. I didn't see any of today's game, been at work. But got to say, Pellè for a while now doesn't seem to have had any runners to feed the ball to. Its all very well talking about holdup play, but if nobody's making those runs, what's the point?
  6. While I agree with your sentiments, it should be added in the cause of balance that "new labour" did more damage to the uk with blairs wars than any tory government could possibly have done via taxes. I'm not saying the tories wouldn't have done the same, although one of the only things I admired thatcher for was her complete snubbing of reagan over grenada.
  7. Yep, I'm sure that's what happened, or at least what we were told when he moved. I'll forgive him though, if only for that volley against man u. Wasnt that the 6-3?
  8. Blimey, I hadn't thought of that.
  9. I'd have thought the wages hernandez would want are likely to be more of an issue than the transfer fee, tbh. And fwiw, it's a bit of a sterile debate imho. Can't see this happening at all.
  10. Brighton FC have introduced a tuition programme for their footballers, teaching them the meaning of sexual consent. At last! The young men of Brighton are now safe.
  11. I'd go along with this. Obviously, he's well aware that the Barcelona management wouldn't be watching his games for the lowly Southampton, but would definitely watch his international duty. That's why he chose to score for Italy instead of us.

  13. I genuinely don't understand how anybody could possibly find michael mcintyre funny. I know it's all about personal taste and sense of humour, but I don't remember doing anything but cringe whenever I've seen his act. To me, he makes miranda hart seem like a comedy genius.
  14. Someone call woy! We've identified a weakness.
  15. So, when is he signing?
  16. Two posts on this thread since the 11th of march doesn't really constitute "can't stop talking about him."
  17. Well said. I'd rather he was here than at at the scousers, even if it meant he was a bit part player as he is there. My guess is he'd have got a lot more game time here.
  18. Playing the Brook, 6th August. Get your tickets in sharpish, probably the last european tour. Fantastic live band if a bit pricey for the brook (£22.) Also playing the next night at the grand in clapham. They normally wouldnt play that type of smallish venue, but the Brook did them a favour a few years back at short notice when they were doing a warm-up tour for the Wild West live album to be recorded in London. Some bournemouth venue let them down, and the brook agreed to get them in at short notice. Still gutted that I missed that show after finding out the day after they played there.
  19. +1. It's just turning into a shooting gallery now.
  20. Yep, and also likely that whoever comes in would be first choice for some time yet. Hopefully Forster won't be out for as long as feared, but the new keeper could reasonably expect first team football for some time.

So, you're convinced that hodgsons comments about the saints players on the fringes of the england squad had no impact whatsoever on the decisions of lambert, lallana, chambers or shaw to leave then? And I already said, its obvious why lambert wanted to go there, boyhood club, move his family back there, etc. I don't blame him for that at all.

Misunderstanding here. I meant that Liverpool didn't buy him because Liverpool wanted him to play for Liverpool. Liverpool wanted him to not play for Southampton, and Lambert wanted to move his family to Liverpool either way. Given that he's started five league games out of thirty for the dippers, and been subbed on in 14, I'd say that he wasn't a focal point of their plans for their team. I'd also say that hodgsons comments in that particular interview would have had some sway over the international players that subsequently left the club.

Obviously. Its also obvious that Liverpool didn't buy him because they wanted him to play for Liverpool.

Quite possibly. It's also ironic that hodgsons remarks about the saints players being more likely to get international game time if they were playing for bigger clubs may have triggered his move to the dippers.

    Funny you should mention that.
