  1. If it was true then i think it depends on what the guy was doing. If he was there like a right little chav acting all hard shouting abuse etc.. then he deserved a kicking. If your out trying to enjoy yourself with your mates and some loon comes up to you having a go at you i'm sure most of you would do the same. However that is not me saying it is ok to be violent it is saying if people are stupid and trying to be confrontational they can't complain when someone actually stands up to them. But if he was just trying to talk to them in a normal manner and just having a laugh i.e not being confrontational or abusive then they are out of order. They are just people but they are representives of the club always. If they are out on the town then as others have mentioned they must be prepared for getting some flak, the club means so much to the community that your always going to get people venting at you if your playing crap, especially playing crap like DMG is.
  2. Ted Bates. Took us from the amateurs to the big time. Mr Southampton. Wish he was still here.
  3. As i said at the start of pre-season when we brought in the dutch guys, things will be very difficult for us in a CCC league that seems to improve every year. If we could get into the new year without being in the drop zone we had a chance to survive. Sadly that did not happen and we are now looking at needing a complete reversal of form. We need to win about 7-8 of our remaining games which is a 50% win ratio to stand a chance. Wotte sounds to me like Ruperts lover the more i hear him speak so that makes me worried but also certain that he is here for the long haul even if we go down. So i can't see us surviving to be honest. We need a miracle.
  4. The problem is though mate if we lose say the next game or draw and the others win will mean we will go to needing 7 or 8 points to get out etc.. We are on the critical line i think now. I just can't help looking back at that run when we lost 5 of 6 games and stayed 1 point above the relagation zone when all the results were on our side with everyone else losing too. I can't help but think our chance was then to pull away and we blew it.
  5. Pretty bad results for us. We fall a further point behind with some teams still having a game in hand to play. We need 5 points now just to get out of the zone. Because of the Watford game being called off will mean we play Bristol away then 2 more home games, meaning by that point 4 of our last 5 games will have been at home. With these results we have to be honest and say it is now out of Barnsley,Norwich,Watford,Us and Charlton for the 3 relegation spots.
  6. Last year i went to the games with 5 people. Of those 5 only 3 renewed. This year none of them will renew and will pick games to go watch when they feel like it. Right now if we survive or go down and Lowe remains i will not be renewing and will pick the games i go to. I love this club and have spent so much on it over the decades. You have some good times and you have some bad times. But since we got relegated the club has been run like a complete joke. We have been on the slide pretty much from 2003 and in 6 years have had the worst mismanagement of resources.I t truely baffles me how someone can remain in their job with that level and number of mistakes to their name. The club's soul has been ripped out and destroyed by a man who cares for nothing but his pockets. He has not put in a penny of his money into this club while i have put in thousands. This club is not a charity, it makes people rich. There has to come a time when you say the falling must stop somewhere and for me after this season i will not pay for another season ticket while Lowe and the current board remain. If we are relegated i just hope we become free of the chains this man has put on us. Sometimes you have to reach the bottom before you can go up again and i just hope that this is us hitting the bottom.
  7. Indeed but it is thought the club received 2 bids for 2 players. 1 of those bids was for Dyer from Swansea which leaves 1 other. Now i have heard a lot of mixed stuff out of the club, i'm sure others will be able to shead more light but i was told the other bid was for BWP. As far as i was aware there was no bids for anyone else which would include The Echo. Now of course we could all be wrong but it would seem The Echo have heard the same thing pretty much. I wonder if he has got a note from an anonymous person saying there were bids? It would be interesting though to hear those who have far better contacts then me at the club thoughts on what they have heard transfer wise? Either way if the 2 bids thing is true then he has to be lying about 1 of them at least as that would make 3 bids.
  8. Interesting as Surman was not bid for acording to The Echo. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4103178.Surman_unfazed_by_transfer_talk/ I smell a bit of spin in the air?
  9. The problem is teams are now going on runs while we are not. Look at Forest and Doncaster, they have the 3rd and 8th best form over the last 8 games. Forest have gone on a run with only 2 defeats in something like their last 12 and are only 5 points above the zone. We need to do that just to get on level terms! The teams around us are improving and pulling away, Norwich unbeaten in last 4, Doncaster have lost 1 in their last 8, even Watford have won 3 of their last 6. We have one win in the last 14. This year i think the 3rd final spot will need less points then 52 to survive. but to even equal that we need 24 more points, nearly 100% increase in just 15 games. That means we need to jump from 0.90 points per game to 1.6 points per game (1 win every 2 games). Translated means we need to win 7-8 of the last 15. Seeing as we have won once in the last 14 would mean an increase in win ratio by 600%. That is if that is the same number needed to survive of course. So i think Watford depends more then the rest of the games, we lose and the confidence will be gone. Of the last 15 games i can see us Watford (A) - Draw Bristol City (A) - Draw Preston (H) - Draw Cardiff (H) - Lose Ipswich (A) - Lose Birmingham (A) - lose Derby (H) - Win QPR (H) - Draw Blackpool (A) - Lose Charlton (H) - Win Wolves (A) - Lose Crystal Palace (H) - Lose Sheff Wed (A) - Lose Burnley (H) - Lose Nottm Forest (A) - Draw So 11 points for me. And that won't be anywhere near enough seeing as we already need 4 points just to get out of it now. lose at Watford and its over.
  10. So you think it will be possible to come back from a 6-8 point gap then? Meaning we would probably have to win 7 of our remaining 14 games, 50% win ratio? Sorry mate but i think it will be the final blow if it happens. We would have to win the next 3 games and hope others lose their next 3 games just to get back on par. Can't see that happening really. So mathimatically it is not over until it is over, but mathimatically West brom can still win the Premier League but that is not going to happen, comes a time when you have to say "its not likely" and if we lose to Watford i think that will be the time.
  11. I think a lot of truth is in what you say about "accepting the inevitable". The thing is i don't think i will actually accept it even if on the last day we need 4 points to survive. It just is too much to take really. But i think if we do win it will give not only the fans but the whole team a big boost of confidence and belief and that is all we are after. A belief that they can actually get themselves out of it.
  12. Before people start with the "there is always next week" or simillar lines lets be honest here. We have won 6 games all season, what are the chances we will win 5 or 6 of our remaining 14-15 games? We have won once in our last 15 games, you have to be realistic. Now that is out the way I can't help but feel this game is one of if not thee most important game in at least our modern history. If we lose this game we will be 5 points behind Watford with them having a game in hand, potentially meaning if we lose we could be 8 points behind them. Add to that Doncaster have 2 games in hand and are currently 8th form wise would suggest they will probably win one of those games at least meaning they will be at least 6 points ahead of us etc.. etc.. If all the teams around us get something from their games in hands we could be as much as 5 points away from the team in the 3rd relegation spot let alone the team out of it. Now form is temporary. But with the games coming up you look at the table and think where could we get wins from realisticly? We will play Bristol City away, Preston and Cardiff at home. Those 3 games will be very hard with Preston and Cardiff in the playoff scrap. I can't see us winning any of those 3, maybe a draw against Bristol. Then after that is Ipswich and Birmingham away followed by Derby at home. Obviously Birmingham will be challenging for the auto spots to go up and Ipswich will for the playoffs, can't see any points with those 2. The Derby game i think we can deffinatly get something possibly a win. Then after that we have QPR and Charlton at home and play Blackpool away. QPR are doing well and are challenging for the playoffs, can't see us getting anything there. But the Charlton and Blackpool game i can see us able to win those games or at least draw. Then have Wolves and Sheff Weds away and Palace at home. Obviously will lose to Wolves but it is possible to get something from the Palace and Weds game, maybe a win vs Weds. Then we have Burnley at home and finally Forest away. I can't see us getting anything from Burnley as they are a physical side doing well goin for playoffs and Forest are a different side now under Davies. So of our games realisticly if i'm being kind i can see maybe wins against Bristol Derby Charlton Blackpool Sheff Weds Now would 5 wins be enough to keep us up? When all teams have played the games in hand and could be 6 points clear to start? So for me Watford is the make or break game. If we lose i think it will knock out 2 teams from the relegation fight meaning us and Charlton will be gone. If we win then we're back in the mix and have a chance, we cannot afford to lose this one. I hope the players understand this. Reading the Watford forum it would appear they agree http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?t=26575 So come on Saints show the fighting spirit of the south, you can do it no more excuses!
  13. I think he would appoint Gorre then Svensson if Wotte went.
  14. Plus i doubt coming out saying the fans are easy to judge etc. will win you many fans. Pearson was a no nonsense guy, someone who could probably inspire a wheely bin to put in a great defensive display if called upon. He told it like it was and you believed in what he was saying. As much as i want to believe in Wotte everytime he speaks i just think "hmm he sounds a bit like Rupert, i can imagine Rupert saying that". But as with all managers your judged on results not what you say. he has 2 points from 9 so that isn't the best of starts, but getting 3 on saturday will be a massive result. I really do think saturday will be make or break for most people with Wotte. People hated Dodd and Gorman but they got 1 win, 1 draw and a loss from their first 3 games, they then went on to lose the next 4. If that happens again i wonder if Lowe would change it? Somehow i doubt it.
  15. Personally i don't think he did go for it as much as he should of. I would of taken off DMG and put BWP up front with Saga. I hate to keep having a go at DMG but he just isn't a striker. It is like a horror show sometimes.
  16. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11323 Think he must have been bringing some home grown and putting it in the half time drinks Seriously though, Wotte?
  17. Southampton FC will still be here just not as we know it Hopefully that will be a good thing
  18. As others mention we need to bring back all our players who are out on loan. If we are going down we need to give it our best shot and having Rasiak,John and Dyer out will do that.
  19. Other then my chronic spelling problem with were and we're (which i'm in therapy for) i'm quite worryingly acurate with my predictions. Watford really will be the winner takes all game i feel. I so badly want it to be us but i just feel in the pressure cauldrun of Vicarage road we might buckle. Not looking forward to it at all.
  20. Hate to do this to you mate but you sort are asking for it Pearson was appointed the manager of Saints at 10.30pm on 18th feb 2008. The Plymouth game was on the 19th. To rub it in a little more he had not even met the players yet nor had any training sessions so did not select the team for that game. Dodd and Gorman did. So attributing him with a result to a game to a team he had not even been with for 24hrs nor had any interaction with the players is a tad harsh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Pearson#Southampton
  21. And after 2 ok games we are back to where we were. Very poor display tonight by the lads. After they went down to 10 men you would of thought we would of been more up for it and took it to them but we didn't. Was nothing really to talk about until the last 10mins. Sheff Utd did a traditional CCC job over us. Bunged the balls in the air and tried to do it that way. The ironic thing is roll back a year and some posters were saying that way of playing will get you nowhere. Looking at the league i would say 5 of the top 6 teams play that way. Today for me was a must win game. The Watford game will seal our fate i think. Watford have then a game in hand and Doncaster have 2 in hand and that is the team we are trying to catch. Very gutted as the players showed no fight but more importantly a severe lack of quality.
  22. I'd hazard a guess from a business perspective Basically with the window shutting yesterday and nobody moving out of the club i think we have to assume we are near the limit. The club has to now use what it has got to avoid relegation. So financial wise we have a lot of players about to have their contracts expire in the summer meaning we can no longer command a fee for them. So that means no lump sums will be coming in to pay off the bill for the likes of Davis etc.. Meaning the club has to now realisticly avoid relegation to avoid going into admin. While we are all biased and think we will do that the money men are not so confident. All the bookies i have seen have us either favourites or 2nd favourites to go down. Think some places have us at 8/11. Now that does not mean they are right and we will go down just means over the basis of the season it looks like we are one of the worst 3 teams. And you have to be major biased not to agree. So if you had cash your running a huge risk by buying shares in the club right now. There is a huge chance you could lose them and your money in 3 months time. If results pick up and we improve and move away from the zone then i would expect the price to increase again.
  23. Can't really include loans for releases as they were never ours. As otherwise when we get to the summer we could be looking at 20+ players going
  24. On our page i can only seem to come up with Safri Wright Licka Ostuland II Viafara Davies Powell They are people who left us in the summer. I guess you could include Claus as he retired too. Or that Motomo guy or whatever his name was?
  25. 15 players in just 6 months or so is a bit ott isn't it?
