  1. I do find it funny that the people who said things would not get worse if Lowe came back,Burley will get us promoted,We have the potential to get promoted this season, Our strikers will score 20 goals easily,Jan will do better then Pearson, we don't want Warnock or Davies because of their lump it up the field tactics etc etc.. are the ones you highlight as "talking sense"....
  2. Just out of curiosity what are these games we dominated and what is your definition of dominating a team? As i been to pretty much all home and away games this year and i'm struggling to think of any. Maybe the Reading away game perhaps?
  3. nah, there is always something to disagree on in contracts isn't there, the last few days of the window turn into chaos normally.
  4. obvious slight exageration but anyone who watched the game knows we were very lucky, to quote Kammy on Big League weekend "They were lucky not to get hammered, it is one of those games where you wonder if your ever score".
  5. I think they will both still be gone to be honest. Have over 2 weeks to go and we all know what Lowe is like. The question becomes has anyone actually bid for them or have we had bids that have been rejected? If nobody has bid for them not quite sure you can praise Lowe for not selling them...
  6. Then you obviously wern't there as we were poor and if it wasen't for Davis saves and Barnsley missing about 20 golden chances we could of lost anything like 4-0. If we play like that we will lose pretty much majority of our games, oh wait we already have....
  7. A good job? sorry i fail to see how being in the drop zone is considered doing a good job? The man has lost basically 50% of our games if it wasen't for a complete fluke win at Barnsley we would have lost another. If there are 20 teams in a league and you are in the bottom 3 then you and i could have done the same most likely. You can put whatever spin you want to put on it but 1 win in 9 games is appaling and a lot of those results are down to the managers tactical decisions. The fact he is still here defies belief. He is possibly the worst manager i have seen at this club, he has the worst stats of any former manager i would think.
  8. The CCC is all about little bursts of form, all teams go through it then have a bad patch. The question is will this be just one win or will we return to losing/drawing in our next game? If we win our next game which is a must we will probably be out of the relegation zone going into the game at Norwich. If we win that then we will give us a good chance to scrape away from the bottom 3. However if we lose at Doncaster and they then win their game in hand will leave us adrift in the zone. Which will then make the Norwich game gigantic, lose that and i really can't see us coming back. Even with a win at the weekend we still find ourselves needing a point to move up the table and out of the relegation zone. One thing is for sure next saturday will either be a day were all very happy as we have won against a team below us or complete and utter misery because we lost. I think were win though. I'm still unsure if were survive. I said pre-season we will finish 4th to bottom, the performance on saturday we were very poor but had that luck factor and that is what we need. That is what it was like with Saints teams in day's gone by. So it really is 50/50 for me. The next 2 games will confirm for me if were down or were survive.
  9. "Burley knows what he is doing, Rasiak might have scored 20 goals but BWP is a better striker"...... "Our young lads could be like when Man Utd played with Giggs,Scholes,Beckham,Butt etc.." That one always made me laugh. "We are aiming for promotion and were in with a good chance" (Michael Wilde before start of the season) "Our strikers will easily score 20 goals this season" "I don't think were in a relegation battle" (Jan before xmas) "Wotten is like a CCC version of Roy Keane, your see". I see the similarities now, as in both past it?
  10. The problem with this defence of DMG is that you don't mention how many games he has actually played and how long he has been on the pitch for them. He has played 30 games of which only 1 was from the subs bench this season. His shooting stats are 44 shots on target and 39 off target. The next person in the shooting for us has 18 shots off target and that is Lallana. Meaning DMG is twice as likely to miss the target of th next guy on the list. In the league he has 7 goals from 27 games, he has played in every league game this season. That means he scores 1 goal almost every 4 games. Meaning his projected total for the season is 11.5 goals. Hardly prolific is it considering he has played more games and more minutes then everyone except Davis. Surman has scored 5 league goals, only 2 less then DMG, if he was put up front i bet he would score more goals then DMG. DMG is up there with the worst strikers i have ever seen play football for any club let alone ours. He will never be a top striker unless he changes his style of play but he is too arogant to do that, Holmes deserves the credit for our goal yesterday, he did all the hard work.
  11. Just home from the game. First off a win is a win and this is a MASSIVE win for us. If we had lost things would have been very bad with Forest winning. In all i have to admit we didn't deserve to win, didn't think we played very well at all really as a team. looked very disjointed. The two experienced heads of our centre backs were outstanding today with Saeijs being superb. Reminded me a lot of the old Svensson. Looked very calm and oozed confidence. He almost cost us a goal when he let the ball run but other then that he was the man, winning most headers and getting a lot of last grasp balls, a solid debut and could be a very good bit of business for us. Molyneux i thought did ok but will have to do better, he is young and unexperienced and will learn. Where as James i felt has not progressed much at all and put in another poor display. Holmes was very impressive i felt and his work rate was emense. Tried to get forward whenever he could but for the majority of the game there was just no-one there to pass to so would eventually lose the ball, he would cross when he could and if we were going to score it would be from him and that proved right. BWP and Surman had a meh kinda game, one of those ones where things don't quite go right where passes end up going to no-one or shots end up going sky high, very forgetful game for those 2. Morgan however im starting to worry a bit about. He was possibly joint worse person on the pitch with DMG. He was lucky in my view not to go off for a late tackle and when he got tacked fairly he turned into Ronaldo and rolled around like he had been hit by his Ferrari, was quite sad really. In my book Morgan started the season so well but since then has been average if not poor, this was one of his poor games. Never really did anything losing the ball so often and never really getting it back, this made the game very scrappy especially in midfield, he needs to re-capture the spark he once had. Which brings me onto our forwards....Saga worked his ass off. He was all over the place like a little Jack Russell. But his want of trying was not matched by the rest of the team. He was on his own not getting the supply line we so badly needed. He did what i expect any striker to do and that is if they can't get anything to simply try different things. Where as DMG is just the complete opposite of that. He really is a **** player. He scored a goal and i give him credit for that because it was well taken and helped us win, but really Holmes is the man to credit with that. His composure and football brain picked him out, he did the hardest part in my book. Other then that 1min where DMG scored he was fecking awful. Didn't looklike he wanted to be there, never helped Saga at all, some of the worst shooting i've seen and the guy near me who had an upset stomach did more running then him trust me. Now without being biased we were so lucky to get the 3 points today. We did not deserve it at all. We were under the cosh for so much of the game that my man of the match is again Davis. He pulled out some massive saves again today that kept us in it but more importantly he shouted at the back 4 telling them what to do basically the whole match, he wears the armband with obvious pride. Barnsley should have won the game and won by a lot, they had golden chance after golden chance that either went blazing over or was saved superbly. They had like 3 1 on 1's that im sure were actually harder to miss then score! And they had what i think was probably a legit goal ruled out. So thank fook it was! We didn't deserve to win, played pretty crap but i will take that every damn week! All that matters is we get points and that is what we done today. We defended well at times and i think if we had Olly and Pearce in there we probably would of got slaughtered. The important thing now is to build on this, the boys have proved they can win. Some of them need to take a look at themselves and ask are they giving enough because some i really don't think are. We can go into the must win game next week with a lot of confidence because we have won a game ugly, it shows you don't have to play beautiful football to win games. If anything i would say Barnsley looked the better passing team today but they lost because they couldn't shoot for ****, which makes a change because it is normally us in that situation. So a good win for the boys and they HAVE to go into the next game positive. One win in however many it is really is not good enough, they have to change the form especially at home and this is a step in the right direction. If we had lost i can imagine this place would of been meltdown or something! I just hope we don't go into the Doncaster game thinking we don't have to try now like so many times before this year, we need 2 wins back to back now. COYR
  12. Think were win this one. Although i been saying that pretty much every game this season.... Really though it is a must win game what with Forest and Charltan playing each other. Win and we could get out of the zone if Forest lose. Lose and we could end up needing 5 points to get out of the zone if Forest win. So no pressure then? Law of averages says you have to win sometime. So i'm going for a 1-2 Saints Win with our winner being a dodgy penalty decision that Jan won't come out and criticise the ref for afterwards
  13. Jan Poortvliet has called on his team to win two of their next three “massive” games to ease their relegation worries. The Saints head coach knows that it is crunch time in the battle to stay in the Championship. Saints travel to Barnsley tomorrow before games against fellow bottom six strugglers Doncaster at St Mary’s and Norwich at Carrow Road in what are make or break fixtures. Poortvliet has stopped short of calling on his side to make a clean sweep of nine points from the three matches after having his fingers burned with his previous target this season. On October 14, Poortvliet urged his side to take 18 points from their next ten league games. Since that time, Saints have had 16 league matches and taken just 12 points! For Poortvliet, though, things have changed a lot since then and NOW is the time to get the results that count http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4034229.Poortvliet_targets_two_wins_in_three/ Nice to see he realises the next 3 games are massive. But as the Echo point out lets hope he delivers this time. As last time he said we would get 18 points from the next 10 games, when really we got 12 points from the next 16 games.. Lose and that will be 4 points from last 28. Have to win, no excuses. Even if it is a shot that hits someones ass and goes in the top corner were take it!
  14. Have to agree with John. Majority of the stadiums life it has been full. It is only in the past 2 or 3 seasons it has not been nearly full. The club had to move and would of happened whoever was in charge. The reason we are in such dire financial **** is down to the people running it. After having 20+ years in the top flight with all the money that comes with that, all the players that have been sold to get to 2006 and have next to no cash is nothing short of a scandal. Where did all that money go? That is the question that never gets answered from our board. The reality is football has become too expensive. Not many people will pay next to £30 a game to watch their team be beat at home and away so often. Even premiership clubs are seeing this happen. Right now we have a difference of opinion on how much games should cost. The fans don't want to pay best part of £30 and the board do. Next season if we survive the club needs to get real. £15 a ticket is more like what the cost should be. But this is Lowe in charge, it will be a price increase and were have a nice article on the OS entitled "Lowe beats the recession! or something like that.
  15. Not quite true mate is it. We had a full house at home to Forest and got our ass handed to us on a plate. Big crowds do not mean wins the tactics and players performances do. We as fans this season have been generally very good. Having seen only one win all season and no protests i think is very good going, how many teams in todays world would behave like we do with those kind of stats/performances? And we can get out of the drop zone IF others fail. This is what i tried to explain to you earlier in the season. If we win all our games and all those above us win their games were still relegated. We have to win and hope others don't. The more we lose the more we have to hope others lose to, it is as simple as that. We must win games starting from now.
  16. Indeed! However seeing as we have won only once in the past 10 games (3 wins in last 19) would lead me to believe we have to improve and improve by a lot to finish above the bottom 3. If we win only 3 of our next 19 games we will probably be relegated long before the final 3-4 games of the season. We need wins and we need them bad. Lose on saturday and it could get really bad seeing as Forest play Charton. Meaning if Forest win we go 4 points adrift in the zone due to our awesome GD. Or if Charlton win we get pegged back to just 1 point from bottom. Point being we have to win and we have to improve. Things stay as they are and were down.
  17. The reality is we got 20 games left and 10 of those are home games. Doncaster, Forest and others have turned their seasons round, appointed new coaches, have new ideas. Last season you needed 53 points to stay up. Meaning we need at least 20 points from our last 20 games. Realisticly i think we will need more then that though. If we can win 7 of our home games that is 21 points then win 2 or 3 away thats an extra 6-9 points. However that would mean we win 70% of our remaining home games. Seeing as we have won 1 in 12 at home that doesnt look likely does it. One thing is for sure that Doncaster at home and Barnsley away are must win games, we lose them and we could end up needing 8 points to climb out of the zone.
  18. As i said before if someone throws a snide remark at me i will defend myself, that is human nature. I don't start threads simply to have a go at someone. But as i said i will ignore it now, i can't be arsed with this part of the forum anymore.
  19. And heres a fine example of what i said i called the "godmode" speech. The one where they preech about how they did nothing, throw no insults, how it is them who dont contribute to the thread falling apart and how the person has to be about 17, and have a character profiling session in this case i must have the last word and im 17. Then follow that up with the old "lets get back on topic", how fortunate it is after you have had your say hey? And as i said "they dont realise they do it". And that is the reality, what you accuse me of you are guilty of yourself, when you say im 17 that means you must be the same because you act exactly the same. But you dont see me going "oh yes he must be 3" and character profile you. Horses for courses isnt it just the difference being i have the balls to stand up for myself.
  20. I 100% agree Rob and i said the same only a few months ago. I said i myself would no longer talk about the consoles in a comparison way anymore and i meant it. The threads go the same way simply because people throw in a few snide remarks then when i question those remarks i get the whole "its st marcos fault" thing like we see in this thread. Then they come in with the what i call "god mode" speech proclaiming that i should not say anything and just let them throw snide remarks at me or others. There is a technical term for that and it is called Trolling/baiting, just people dont realise they do it. Like you say about the insults, go through the threads and you notice i actually will not insult someone unless they insult me 1st. That doesnt make me better then them but it doesnt make them as rightous and above everyone as they try to make out. So lets all take a chill pill, sit back and relax and put an end to the bickering and silly remarks because at the end of the day who gives a monkies? It is a forum where were all going to agree/disagree about something, we dont have to act like a bunch of ****s everytime we disagree do we. So this day forth im just going to ignore it like i had been doing.
  21. Well it depends really i think on wether or not you think 4-4-2 being played right will bring us more goals then a defensive 4-3-3? If you look at the formation it is nothing like the 4-3-3 Chelsea or Arsenal use. We use a holding striker which is really more of a midfielder and the wingers stay more in midfield then in attack. It is considered a dutch 4-3-3 formation but an english 4-5-1 formation. By switching to a real 4-4-2 means you have 2 people to pass the ball up to and means the wingers have more people to cross the ball to. More options = more chances to score in my book. On the radio on the way home the other day someone commented on the tactics and asked can you say it works? The reality is with only 20 games remaining we have hit the net only 22 times. Only one team has scored fewer goals then us. If you have played over half the season and have failed to score at least 1 goal a game is it the tactics or is it the personel? Personally i think its the tactics thus switching to a proffesional 4-4-2 should help simply by having more people in attack.
  22. If he plays for us he wont be able to be sold this year so if he plays he will continue to for the rest of the season. Which i think is a massive boost for us, hopefully now we will drop the dutch version of 4-3-3 and switch to a proffesional 4-4-2!
  23. aww well thats a shame isnt it, as i thought you were cool
  24. A demo should come out for this tomorrow. Really liked the first one.
  25. I dont start them jack ass. And dont play the "i dont care blah blah" card. If you go through the threads of which you proclaim to not care your see i never start them, as i mentioned above i will talk about a game but if any slight negative is mentioned and it happens to be on PS3 then it turns into a witch hunt. One which you yourself join in on. You dont have to be a smart ass and say things like the whole "why dont you show bad MS news"....You could of simply said nothing. The sales threads is one thread, one thread posted over half a year ago about the fact the 360 outsold the Wii in Japan. That is like Forest Green beating Man Utd, not expected to happen. Stop saying snide remarks and the threads wont turn into this will they. Go back over this thread and your see 4 or 5 people have said the same as me but yet their remarks go untested. Again as i said its pretty sad that every thread goes that way when im just commenting on the game, maybe its time you let it go Danny rather then accuse me of making these threads go that way. Maybe read what your about to post and ask yourself "does it matter?" before you post it? Then dont come back after you do proclaiming me to be the one to make the thread turn into what it does. I for my part am just defending myself, dont throw stones and all that.
