  1. also people using the whole United are the champions etc.. as an excuse need to look at the Southend game yesterday. They are something like 15th in league 1 playing away at the english and champions league runners up playing pretty much a Chelsea A team and thy got a draw. That wasent a man utd A team, far from it. Andy Gray always says if you dont create chances how will you score? We just dont create chances (as in shots on target).
  2. Channon, and Bill Rawlings seeing as he scored 175 goals from 327 games for us.
  3. Well finally that whole FA cup thing is over. Can get back to what really matters, the league! It is interesting reading peoples opinions on the game especially the decisions against us. At the time i thought the red card was very harsh, the penalty was a joke and the first goal was offisde. Thought the officials were having a bad day! But getting home and watching the replays i have to say i was wrong. The red card was very much a red card. Patterson was off the ground with studs showing and was over the ball. If the guys leg was planted we could of seen another player suffering a very long time out of the game due to a dangerous tackle. There is no place in todays game for lunges like that and if it was them doing that to us and maybe crippling say Surman would people still think a red was harsh? Obviously not. The penalty was a clear penalty. If a player jumps with his arm up in the air and the ball strikes his arm that is a penalty. If he kept his hands by his side like everyone else it would not of struck his arm would it. It is one of those decisions that could of gone either way but the law of the game says if the ball goes to arm then it is not a penalty but if arm goes to ball it is. On the radio Davis said it was a definate penalty. I give him massive respect for saying that rather then look for excuses. Which brings me on to Jan. In his post match interview he blamed the referees for not only this game but all our games. I think the last bit of respect i had for him went out of the window the moment i heard that. So it is the refs fault we have only scored 22 goals all season and let in 40? Sorry Jan but i have seen pretty much every game. I would say the refs have done us more favours then dis-favours this season. The games against Doncaster Derby and Ipswich the refs gave us massive decisions which helped us to get points. The old saying goes that you create your own luck and we have what we deserve. We are in the bottom 2 because over the course of 26 games we deserve to be there. You are to blame along with the players and the board. How about accepting some responsibility for our results rather then constantly looking to shift it elsehwhere? JAN OUT Onto the game. Anyone who thought we would win this game must have been slightly mental but for a team down to 10 men against the european and world champions losing by just 3 is a bit of a result. However even when the game was at 11 per side we never really looked like doing anything, same old story just a different set of opponents. The players looked like they couldnt be arsed but really i think that is unfair on them, it is just their level of talent makes them seem that way. The atmosphere was really bad but at least now majority of those people wont be back again seeing as they were not saints fans. Next 3 games are vital to our survival. Lose any of them and were in the ****, lose all of them and we could be 11 points adrift in the relegation zone.
  4. Reason he would buy them is because A, he is the richest business man in the south of England so has cash and B, he is a Saints fan. Crouch is the type of person who puts his money where his mouth is even if that means we struggle because of it. Crouch would buy the shares then give them and his older shares to a consortium simply because he wants nothing more then to see the back of the Lowe regime. He knows he cant come back himself again. We had him there twice and nothing really changed, i think he accepts that he is not the guy to run the club. But the one thing we can say about Crouch is in his 4 months at the club he has searched more for potential investors then the 12 years Wilde and Lowe have had combined at the club. The reality is right now whatever happens this club needs cash and needs it bad. There are two ways of that happening. We sell all the players worth something which is the Lowe method. Or we get some cash in from an investor in a takeover. Wilde must be thinking his days at the club are numbered. The whole area thinks of him as the villain now when he wanted to be seen as the hero. The fact Lowe is the visual entity of the club even though he is not the football chairman would lead me to believe Wilde most likely has had enough. But i dont think Crouch would buy them unless a consortium (Fulthorpe etc..) were in a position to move. That is just my opinion.
  5. Indeed. And his company is near death if big companies like Jewsons and Woolsly are to be believed. Wilde will have no choice but to sell the shares. And seeing as there doesnt seem to be a huge que of people willing to buy shares to a club that looks set to go into admin it would not surprise me one bit if Crouch bought them.
  6. If he goes out on loan to Fulham with a view to a permanent deal then i can imagine things will get very nasty for our board at the games.
  7. when im out of the country on work i watch http://www.iraqgoals.com/en/ They should have the game on there i would imagine
  8. Not really sure adding these old players who get injured every other week is a good thing for us right now. Dont get me wrong i think he did superb for us last year but in a year since then he has been plagued by bad injuries and i think played only 14 games in that entire 12 months or something like that. It reminds me a bit of Svensson. When working is a quality player, but sadly getting him just onto the pitch to play is very very difficult. If we could get him on a pay as you play deal then that might be alright though. Just i think if we were to give him a proper contract i cant see him playing many of the games at all, would be better to just give one of our own a chance. Cant believe it has been over a year since he was with us.
  9. think it will be a very under strength man utd side (no Ronaldo/Rooney etc..) and were still lose by only by 0-1.
  10. Interesting that they say it is because of the manager. The records say Cork has been out on loan since 2006. Which was when he was in charge of the reserves at Chelsea. Im guessing Cork did not play many first team reserve games? At the end of the day if i was a player and was lumped together with our manager and board i would want to leave too. Im sure most of you would to.
  11. Well all i heard was Charlton were scouting him and supposedly put a bid in for him to Chelsea. The reason we have no announced his loan extension yet though we were in discussions to me suggests we were not the only ones putting in offers. So as i said all i heard was someone at Charlton had spoke to him. If it was for a loan deal i dont think he would go as he said he would like to stay here. But we have to be serious, at the end of the season we wont be able to buy him especially if were down. Charlton are **** but they have more money then most of the teams. They will be very active in the window. They ship so many goals and i think have let in the most. So would make me believe obviously they will be going for defenders to stop the flood of goals. If they buy him he gets a first team spot and no doubt will see them move up the table. As **** as they are i just cant see them going down. With Bolton he wont get in the team and will just be in the same situation he is now where he gets loaned out for the next few years. So i think for a lot of players they just want to be playing 1st team football and be settled. If i had to look at the three teams i would love to see the lad sign for us but if Chelsea have offers for permanent deals they will take that above loans for sure. But as i said that is just a rumour and will 99% probability be wrong! but one thing we can be sure of is he wont be playing for Chelsea will he.
  12. Indeed the guy deserves a chance but we have to be realistic he is not going to be some future prem class player is he. For someone to be so old but yet never play for any team is a bit odd. If you compare that to say Cork who is younger he has played 60 competative games etc.. Holmes is a player who i felt was doing really well until he got injured. Since he has returned he has not really been the same player. It will take awhile for him to get back to match fitness but when he does im sure he will come good again.
  13. Happy New Year Peeps. I almost got killed at a party when someones stove exploded last night! (they had a power cut....) so great start to the new year! Lets hope the luck continues and 2008 was the last doom and gloom year for the Saints! Can only hope cant we!
  14. Rumour has it Cork has been sold to Charlton. Again that is just a rumour i heard. But it would not surprise me, same thing happened with Iffil didnt it. Wonder whatever happened to him.
  15. Not really sure these are wise moves for us. It adds even more money to the wage bill and is another gamble for us. Smith has been an awful addition for us. Injured for most of the season then puts 2 really average if not worse displays in. Saw nothing from him to make me believe he will be the answer to our goal scoring/creating problems. As for Molyneux cant really comment on the lad as he has never played a competative game of football in his life. Was in the England under 16s though but that was over 3 years ago. Played in a reserve game against Liverpool in 06 season. Guess we have to give the boy a chance but for a 19 year old (20 next month) to never have played a game is a bit worrying and makes me wonder how Jan actually got to see him play to think he was good enough to sign? Lets hope the boy does well for us.
  16. Gota love the hypocrites who say your bad for smoking but yet happily get fooked on alcohol. Wont be long until you wont be able to even do that probably.
  17. It didnt stop the echo/bbc/sky from finding the right facts did it.....you would think a source closer to home i.e the club who pay his wages and supposedly give him a place to sleep would be more up on details before the others would you not? So as i said three times now....if your a journalist your job is to report things you know, not speculate. Look at the Sheff United website, what did they say? "It is an unfortunate tragedy and our condolences go out to the family of Mr Mohamed but Sheffield United cannot make further comment as it is a police matter." No mention of the words "minor" nor "accident"... What did we say? "Robertson will not be playing due to suffering bruises from a minor car accident"..... Do you see the difference there? Now dont get me wrong im not judging Robertson, i have not said one bad thing about him. But if this reporter that you are failing badly to stick up for has any knowledge of the media he/she would know to follow sources and not print on anything your not sure of. Why? Because in this day and age even the slightest thing wrong = libel. You would think having a boss who is well known for taking people to court for libel that they would know that wouldnt you? So again you can attempt to stick up for the reporting policy all you like but it makes no difference. They should of phoned the hospital and asked what was going on. That is not ilegal, or did you not know that either?
  18. Those who know me know i knew a few people who were basically fired when he returned. The club lost some good people, some real Southampton people. Sadly that is the financial climate we find ourselves in. Basically if i could meet Wilde i would say with the iminent bankruptcy of your company i hope you sell your shares off to someone who genuinely cares about our club. Take your money and **** off back down the hole that you crawled out from. You stabbed every Southampton fan in the back, you were never a fan. I remember your match notes when you returned proclaiming we will be challenging for a playoff spot, proclaiming things could never be as worse as the old board etc.. but here we are 1 day from 2009 finding ourselves the lowest we have been in almost 100 years. I just hope your not so tight up for cash you will sell your shares to Lowe.
  19. I never said anything about Robertson, read what i said.... And they should have done what everyone else does and simply say nothing. "Robertson is unavailable due to injury". As i said a journalists job is to know the facts of the story. If the person writing it didnt know then to simply guess makes it even worse.
  20. Sorry but the story was that it was a minor accident. What was said was "Robertson is suffering from bruises from a minor traffic accident". Where is the mentioning that a guy had to be air lifted to hospital and was fighting for his life which sadly he lost? If the person writing it did not know the circumstances of the event then why publish it? The club might not have spoken to Robertson or the police at that time but the way they presented it was to make it sound like he was in a bad way. Notice how the story has now been pulled from the OS and all that remains is one sentence on the Reading preview saying "Robertson wont figure after being in a minor car crash over xmas". The reality is if you work in media and you present news then get your facts right before you press the print button especially on a story like that. Now the dust has settled and true facts are coming out it would appear the boy was playing around with his stereo and crashed into the other car because of it. And now he has been arrested because of it. Soon as that story was told notice Saints distancing themselves from him? Notice the "Southampton decided not to comment on the incident" bit? So the bit you say "shows no real thought for the process" makes me laugh because what process is that? Do the Saints OS follow a different line of conduct to the rest of us in the media? A journalists job is to know the facts and to print what has happened. How could he miss a 30 ton ambulance helicopter? Or the fact a motorway had to be closed to deal with it? Or maybe not even phone the hospital to find out that a guy was fighting for his life? So the reason the guy needs to be sacked is because he didnt do his job simple as that. How would you feel if that was your dad (or family member) and you saw that news piece saying it was "minor"? Of course you would be totally understanding im sure....
  21. how much does that mean the person paid about 18k?
  22. whoever said/reported it was a minor accident on the OS last week needs sacking, that is disgraceful, thoughts go out to the family of the man who died.
  23. see i disagree, i think it was again more flash and no substance, it is a question of how do you define playing well? If you added up how many times their keeper was tested and ours was tested i would say ours was tested more. Im happy we did not lose but i dont think we played as great as people are trying to imply. This performance does not change my view on the team 1 bit. If they go into the next 3 games which are massive and get 7 points from the 9 then my opinion will change for sure.
  24. 4 points from the last 24, no wins in 11 games, 4 loses from the last 5, 2nd to bottom etc etc reading some peoples replies you would think we were top of the league!
  25. Was a good performance against a very average non determined Reading side. The truth is we had loads of possesion as we always do but simply dont know what to do with it. We did not really test their keeper with majority of our shots going sky high. We were the better team however as Reading just didnt seem interested. That to me is an important fact that us playing at our best against a team that couldnt be arsed still didnt have the know how to put the goals away. When we did score Reading turned into another team and if it wasent for Davis AGAIN or the woodwork we would of lost. After we scored we were the worst team and made mistake after mistake. The reality is if you said to me before our last 5 games we would have a point from Reading but lose the rest i would be unhappy. So i am unhappy. Unhappy that once again JP comes out thinking how great we are and no doubt were go on to draw against Man Utd but lose to Barnsley,Doncaster and Norwich. Then get stuffed in the replay. The guy is on borrowed time and we now find ourselves in the relegation zone. We can no longer hope results go our way as they have for the previous 4 weeks. If we continue in that trend were be further and further adrift. The next 3 CCC games especially the two away ones are massive and are must wins. Lose to Doncaster and Norwich and i think that will really be it for us.
