  1. There are rumours about CMS of Peterborough coming to us, but what about any Huddersfield players? Now they're stuck in the third tier, do they have players worth looking at for the next league up and with the potential to go further? Solid unit, or anyone worth snatching?
  2. Bears read newspapers? That is surprising!!!
  3. Will be there to see a game finally. Walsall were in terrible form when the game was originally scheduled, so hope the slight improvement since then will mean nothing and we'll prove our team is good enough to be in the automatic places. With a fit combination of Lallana, Oxo and Lambert playing to their best ability we should be unstoppable in this league. Also like the competition for places throughout the team and don't feel we have a really weak link, unlike recent years.
  4. How many mistakes can you get in one article? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/28/squad-sheets-southampton-manchester-united "Guilherme do Prado, a 19-year-old Brazilian striker" "Subs Bialkowski, Martin, Butterfield, Dixon, Seaborne, Barnard, Hammond, Lallana, Gobern, Connolly"
  5. Feel that everything is going tits up. Pardew had a plan. He may not have been perfect, but no manager is and if they were intent on getting rid, should have done so in the summer when a new manager would have had a chance to implement his plan - ultimate stupidity to waste all that preparation and planning on someone who was going to be sacked whatever! Just when we were getting it together - bunch of arse!
  6. Thank you so much Markus. You saved our club and gave us hope and pride in it again - that is the most priceless thing anyone could have done.
  7. I understand the arguments for playing a strong team, but I'd rather not risk key players. Also, I think we need to be able to trust some of the fringe players if we're building a good squad. I'd go for: Bart Butterfield - Seaborne - Fonte - Mills Puncheon - Wotton - Schneiderlin - Holmes Connolly - Barnard Subs: Davis, Lambert (if fit), Lallana, Dickson, Martin, McNish, Oxlade-Chamberlain Depending on how it goes, we can either strengthen or give other youngsters a chance.
  8. Yay! Someone actually posted something informative about the players who were on the pitch! Thanks Causer - best post of pre-season!
  9. Who cares what car they waste their money on?
  10. We're not out of it to make the play-offs and until we are, that should be the target. JPT is a lovely distraction if we have a chance of a good day out, but I would never risk our chances in the league in favour of it.
  11. I'm puzzled by taking Antonio off rather thanJames, but I think it's a bit early to start calling him Burley mkII - extreme even for you ALpine, or were you joking?
  12. Very impressed with his attitude and his strike rate. If he and Lambert stay fit we're guaranteed goals just about every game - superb strike force!
  13. I like the banana splits one or the Kinks one best (must be my age).
  14. I reckon even giving last year's team Lala and KD, our team now would beat last year's. Davis James JPS Perry Skacel Gillet Euell Lallana McGoldrick BWP Rasiak vs Bart (weaker I know, but have to give them a chance) Murty Jaidi Trotman Harding Wotton Hammond Schneiderlin Papa Mellis Lambert
  15. Would you have any of these players in the team now to replace existing players? If so, who? Surman McGoldrick Skacel BWP Euell Dyer Rasiak JPS Stern John I certainly wouldn't have any of those strikers instead of Lambert bearing in mind age, attitude and scoring rate this league. Skacel likewise, either at LB or LW. Surman is a tricky one, because I think he's a quality player, but Lallana is better in attack and Hammond/Schneiderlin looks a good partnership in front of DM. I'd have Papa over Dyer, McGoldrick or Euell any day too, so I think we are looking stronger.
  16. The way I see it, people aren't going on about what an amazing footballing side we are and the best in the league etc, but we are getting respect for being efficient and doing a job. I'd much prefer that tbh, as you can play lovely passing football and still end up losing every week, as we all know too well.
  17. I've seen one copied onto a thread here, but overall, I wouldn't say they all thought we were so great. A lot (probably blinkers on) thought they should have won! However, the general consensus seems to be that we closed it out professionally and they couldn't get through us at all in the 2nd half. "When we equalized we were in heaven, On top of the game and there was only going to be one winner, that was until their second which knocked the stuffing out of us. The third killed us off, and the worrying thing for Tilly must be just how easily Southampton closed the game down in the second half and were content for us to run down blind alleys until we eventually ran out of any ideas. If anything come out of this game, I hope our lot lat least learned a thing or two about holding onto a 2 goal lead, even though it wasn't very pretty to watch." "Second half, our midfield bossed it and continued to pass the ball around at pace, but they piled all their men behind the ball as soon as the whistle went for the start of the second half. They were very negative, and any side are difficult to break down when they play like that." "Saints were no great shakes either, but did what they needed to do by stopping us playing and giving us no space at all." "Southampton weren't exactly a class above and yet they cut through us without having to work at it because we're that static." "we scored the best goal of the night but really created little in the second half, they shut up shop and who can blame them" "Thought Southampton were much quicker in all areas of the pitch and once they were 3-1 up were quite happy to contain us and we had no width or pace to open them up." "Matter of opinions isn't it? I really didn't think we were that bad tonight, we were unfortunate in some poor decisions and that knocked the stuffing out of us a bit. The ref was giving very little our way, and the lino next to nothing. I'm always on the positive side, you know that, and I think we were grossly unfortunate in conceding the first two goals." "Saints fans - 10/10." I'm sure there's at least one of those comments that people will agree with :-), but what about the rest?
  18. We need to be top of the form table for the rest of the season to start climbing the league towards a decent position. I'm hoping we can keep that up.
  19. I am feeling so much more confident than even a week ago. The whole thing about the mentality of the squad and the club does seem to be changing. Everyone on here was saying "same old Saints" even though we had so many new players who hadn't been involved in the previous regimes, so I started believing that was the case. Now, I get a totally different feeling - one week won't make a season, but the indications are that we can go on a real run of form and push up the league. I really can't see us losing many unless we lose key players, which, as has been mentioned, is our weakness, but then the same should be true of most teams in this league. Averaging 2 points a game with the same attitude and commitment that we've seen recently, allied to the obvious quality we have in the team, should not be impossible.
  20. Happier than if we'd lost, but still doesn't feel that great to have scraped a draw against Carlisle.
  21. Can't see us scoring 2 now, can you?
  22. We've got a top 6 defence in terms of goals conceded, but aren't scoring enough goals. If we do that, we'll start storming up the table, but there is a long way to go before we can aim for anything above lower-mid table.
  23. No way! I was about to say is anyone feeling confident of holding on and winning, but even I am now with a 2-goal cushion.
  24. I was going to write something sarcastic about the performances of other players, but then decided against it. A win would be nice next month, though, please. I agree Harding is a class signing and has done very well for us so far. It must have been hard for him with no left footed player in front of him. I really hope he will gel with Holmes or Mills this month and start producing more going forward to trouble opposition defenses and start creating goals.
  25. Nothing to inspire any confidence at all. This Papa bloke had better be effing amazing if we're to turn things round.
