  1. imho Rickie L is now settling into a more supporting role. Due to last season's phenominal stats many i feel expect too much this time around, four goalscorers today telly me that the squad has grown into the joint responsibilty that is paramount in succeding at this level. Met him after the game today too and he was pretty darned nice, and chatting to mrs L left me with the impression that it holds true that behind every great man is a miniscule yet substantially essential grounding force at work.
  2. Orwell didn't just spout opinions, he actually got out there and lived in the communities that he wrote about, giving a valid view. Hence why many spectators of his era were talking out of their comparative arses.

  4. If everyone spent one third of their income on deciding how to spend the other two thirds then i believe that we (joe public) would also be in the smelly stuff. far far too many involved in desk jobs and the buck should stop at their door.

hope no-one posts a link to this godawful song again, makes my skin crawl to think that some of our own gave up their own time to do this, v sad.
  6. Still a bit gnawty though dune.
  7. I'll tell you a book that might tickle his fancy, A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn. Also, George Orwell's 1984. If he (you both) likes it then you can start your own GO library, perhaps an acquired taste but in my opinion a brilliant man.

  9. where i used to work there was a sign in the lavatory saying 'please flush twice...it's a long way to the canteen.'
  10. many years ago I tried to teach my sister to drive, she kept opening the door before pulling away...apparently it was my fault as I had told her to let the clutch out!! when she eventually passsed her test she used to carry a bucket of water in the passenger seat...apparently it was for dipping the headlights..
  11. At least none of 'em is ginger....
  12. This problem could have been negated if they had moved the 'away end' to the chapel. easy to cordon off the industrial estate and escort coaches etc in convoy. They could even erect a semi-perm fence. Oh yeah, and it would make the builiding of a train platform more viable too. ;-)
  13. His wage was too big anyway, compared to what is/was available. I for one shall miss his back-tracking, of a standard and determination rarely seen at our current level. I did a couple of weeks allude to the fact that he was in a period of adjustment. I meant that it was US who needed to adjust expectations not Punch as obviously he has not *****il now) played at the higher level. really hope that we don;t regret not keeping hold but something tells me that he'll do well for them and they will appreciate him for what he offers. in summary...our loss.
  14. To save on needless costs to the british justice system and re-awakening the angst of our ageing hoolies, might i suggest that any fans leaving the ground from the itchen stand next tuesday turn right and any fans leaving the norham stand walk either left or straight forward and over the bridge. big john (BJ - rocket Science)
  15. Idiots driving in the outside this morning doing 80mph! Wouldn't get out of my way.

  18. One inherent problem with larger signing on fees is that should the player not 'perform' or fall out of favour, he has already got the cash in the bank ergo he has less to lose by not appearing. I reckon that a sum (signing on fee) in the region of £500k may have been put on the table roughly equal to an additional £10k pw over a 1 year period, he could be on a wage of, say, £10k pw and still be our highest paid player by a country mile. imo still a good deal overall for saints.
  19. (don key)ng boxing impressario
  20. The weekly wages/existing player discourse can quite easily be resolved with a generous signing on fee.
  21. C ock
  22. i would keep an eye on the ebc applications first. that is where i would open discussions, this isn't a new idea.
  23. about the same size as now, special corpoate stand and tree-lined leisure areas around the ground
