  1. Nice try Smirking Saint It was a noble effort none the less.
  2. I could believe that, especially when he makes comments like this:
  3. I agree. All those fans who boycotted because they didn't like who was in charge, and all the fair weather stay-aways, should apologise and admit they are partly to blame.
  4. I think you've missed the point slightly.
  5. You're really enjoying this aren't you?
  6. I'm not talking about who's to blame, I'm just saying that 120-odd years of history is not 'up the swannee'
  7. I'd be surprised if Shearer actually does any good at Newcastle.
  8. No need to be so melodramatic. We're not the first and we won't be the last.
  9. Then you should just buy tickets for each individual game instead, it's not as though they're hard to get! But of course if you did that you would end up paying more over the course of the season, even if you got a ticket for the charlton game for only £15. Hmmm that is a real dilemma...
  10. Ok bad choice of words. What I meant was not going into administration, and therefore being relegated, with 8 games to go when the 3 teams above us are still within reach. That would be a total capitulation and would have no real benefit so I really don't understand the thinking behind it.
  11. Even if there was a benefit I would be ashamed to see us giving up when we still have 24 points to play for. I would rather see us go down fighting than just give up for the sake of being in a slightly better position next season when we would be in league 1 either way.
  12. So you really believe it would have been more sensible to go into admin and guarantee relegation when we still have a very good chance of staying up? Surely the fans would still 'desert the club in droves' anyway, probably even more would due to the appalling decision to throw in the towel and surrender with 8 games still to play. And if you think we'd be fighting relegation with the 10 point deduction then the extra 10 points would only mean we would be bottom half and still completely ****ed. You talk a lot of **** but this is just ridiculous.
  13. I think we'll beat them. If we can't then we really don't deserve to stay up.
  14. I don't think they have that info. As I remember it we were hovering just above the relegation zone but I don't think we had any prolonged periods in the bottom 3. Although I could be wrong about that.
  15. This time last year we were 19th, although we'd played 40 games. http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/Southampton.html
  16. The last game I saw was QPR and we didn't look much like a team fighting for survival. There was no real urgency about them and although they created some chances and probably should have scored, that was largely down to QPR doing absolutely f**k all themselves. Having said that I think it's too close to call and will probably come down to the last game, so anything can happen.
  17. Depends if we get relegated or not. If we do then yes, JP not leaving earlier would have been part of it.
  18. Not really surprising is it.
  19. It's easy to criticise with hindsight but risks had to be taken and it was always possible that mistakes would be made. I agree that things probably could/should have been done differently but we can only speculate and it's in the past now. Also, we nearly lost our place in the CCC last season remember, without Lowe's cost-cutting measures.
  20. Fair point. I don't smoke any more, but the smoking ban was a complete joke and has played a big part in closing down thousands of pubs in this country.
  21. Sounds quite sensible to me, considering the rate at which fish stocks are declining: "...scientists believe the number of large fish in the oceans has fallen by 90% since the 1950s." http://www.economist.com/research/backgrounders/displaybackgrounder.cfm?bg=998478
  22. Oh right, I was wondering about that actually. Also I did fear for my life that day! Those terraces are a death trap.
  23. I stood on terraces at Ninian Park this season.
  24. That could happen anyway, especially when a goal is scored and everyone jumps around like lunatics. It could also happen in the concourse at half time when everyone is standing up. I am to young to remember them (in fact I was reading some fascinating accounts of Hillsborough just the other day) but it's not quite the same thing is it? In fact that has no relevance at all - Hillsborough was not caused by people standing up at the football.
  25. But why should the club bother to uphold such a ridiculous and pointless law? If it was going to get fined because it had failed to do so then it would have happened by now. It's not as if the police who are present at the games don't notice several thousand people standing up and making a lot of noise for 90 minutes.
