Because it meant we were playing with 5 in midfield rather than the 3 we had played for the 1st hour. We had no width in our midfield, leaving the full backs 1 on 1 with their wingers. Clyne had it easy as Routledge was poor. Davis wasn't playing in front of Fox, he was playing in a far narrower 3. JWP was sent on to play there. Dyer was not half as effective after that. The fact that the team as a whole couldn't keep the ball after we went 1 up, meant that Swansea could keep switching it wide. I felt MP could have made the switch at half-time, but he had faith that our midfield could have regained the upper hand. They didn't, but luckily we didn't concede. Miss the game then did you?

Apart from the fact that they won 4 League titles, 1 European Cup, 2 FA Cups and 1 League Cup in the next 7 seasons under Fagin and Dalglish. (And don't forget the Screensport Super Cup in which they beat us in the group stage.) Yep. Pretty poor.

Radio 5 commentators last night were saying that Barcelona were playing more long passes this season under their new coach. Not hoof, as they still don't have a centre forward, but switches of play and less short passing. Dosent seem to hurt them as they have won all 7 league and 2 CL games. Just appears they are copying us after all! Anyhow. What constitutes a long ball?

There was at time, middle of July I believe, when you went to an actual game and the "fan" in you came to the fore. It made, for many of us on here, a pleasant change as the whole tone of your posts showed an element of joy and fun. It showed in the photo of that match that showed you and your sons. Since then you have resorted to type. Depressing, boringly repetitive and unable to debate without sly insults and put downs. It was pointed out by several that you went missing after our great win at Anfield as you didn't have anything to moan at. The question has been asked often. Why do you bother? Its not just your latest analogy that was "a bit charmless".
