All season we have had a good run followed by a couple of dodgy results we never seem to put a really long run of good results together. Of course we may comeback tonight but there is no reason that we can put another run of results together starting on Saturday and get promoted
-
Yes totally agree We need to play it tight for the first 30 mins perhaps
-
Well his first touch was dreadful on Tuesday perhaps it is better when I am not watching
-
In general his first touch lets him down otherwise I think he could be a top striker Spurs I think let him go. But he has been very good for us so I am pleased he was signed
-
We will get enough points to get promoted automatically Huddersfield and Peterborough know we have the momentum and will be planning for the play offs especially if we win at Rochdale
-
I think Barnard is an excellent League 1 Striker and will probably be a good Championship Striker He would be even better if his first touch was better as would have been James Beattie Whilst watching the game on Tuesday I noticed that Barnard on quite a few occassions lost the ball because of poor ball control On the otherhand Rickie Lamberts first touch is extremely good

Although the Stadium looked pretty empty and there was no atmosphere where I was 20k Saints supporters was a pretty good figure

Buying a 33 Year Old Goalkeeper who is on a continual slide down the Leagues I dont think is a good idea. Like all goal keepers he can make terrific saves but he lacks consistency

For those who care about club finances etc - annual accounts published
John B replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Yes I totally agree I have always been sceptical about SFC being a regular top team in the PL without massive cash injections. With regard to the accounts the wages seem to be high but we did have a clear out of players last summer so I think the accounts for the year ending this June will give a better idea how well the club is being run financially and if OXO is sold the figures will probably look very goodb -
Man U and Liverpool play in Red Chelsea Pompey in Blue Stoke Sunderland Southampton play in Red and White Stripes

I am sure you are right that he had to make one save but I dont recall him making any. Cannot remember many shots either although one went well over the bar in the last few minutes. A good solid performance from the Saints with no onereally outstanding and no one really poor. Just thought that RM was not Guly's best position but he scored and made a goal so he did a very good job The atmosphere in the Chapel was poor especially as promotion is so near good noise from the Northam though
-
Yes I agree he seemed to have a good game he let the game flow but there were not many contenious issues and only 20 fouls
-
68 plus 17 still looks OK to me but we should get more But only time will tell 9/4 for Huddersfield to win the League without Brighton looks an interesting bet
-
Just remember it is likely that we will drop some points before the end of the season but it is still likely that we will be promoted please dont panic
-
A win would be better
-
I agree with most of your posts including this one I have reckoned for some time that we will get about 85 points So we might get less points than last season and get promoted
-
I dont think your second match meets the OP's criteria because the atmosphere was pretty dire for most of the game but it was without doubt the most exciting game I ever saw at the Dell and the only time I ever watched a game under the East Stand

40000 Saints Fans at White Hart Lane 1963 v Nottm Forest second replay thrashed them 5 0 Bloody Marvellous

At the time with the Club facing Administration the best scenario for the Club was probably SISU as suggested by Hone. However Wilde Crouch and Lowe thought the best situation for themselves was to keep their influence at SFC If the fans at the time knew how bad the financial situation was at SFC they may have backed the SISU Not only did Lowe Crouch Wilde etc lose their money but also did a large number of Ordinary Saints Fans. Who knows what would have happened if SISU had taken us over I dont think we would have been relegated and perhaps we may even have been promoted by nowas we had a reasonable but demotivated squad just lacking a couple of reasonable CBs. We still do not know what investment will be forthcoming from the current owners so overall we may have been better off with SISU in the long run but on the hand we may not have been only time will tell. SISU may not have been such a bad offer as many thought at the time

Will Cortese send adkins on his way should we not secure promotion?

I dobbt very much if Cortese would sack Adkins if we do not get promoted . Adkins has got the team playing well and if we do not get promoted from here it will be down to reasons which he can not affect Loss of Form by Players Bad errors by Players Poor decision by match officials Opposition teams having luck and playing exceptionally well Injuries and Suspensions Whether he is the manager to take SFC to the PL is of course open to debate but he does have a contract so perhaps Cortese thinks so and he is the one who makes the decisions. Although I think we will be promoted if we dont the main reason will be the poor start to the season which must be attributed to the Pardew/Cortese situation wich Cortse handled badly As I said this time last season if he wanted to sack Pardew because he could not work with him he that was a perfect valid decision. But to go on to pontificate in the press that he never had any thoughts of doing so then to sack him in August which seriously jeopardised team spirit was wrong. Sacking Pardew was not the wrong decision but sacking him in August was - We should thank Adkins for getting us a winning team and perhaps if him or someone else had been appointed last summer we would like Brighton be already guaranteed promotioni -
Did SFC not get more spectators when they moved to St Mary's from the Dell

Yes I was there hoping for a win to make us Champions all I saw was a very boring draw should have played cricket instead as it was the first game of the season Strange to think that I did not have to buy a ticket before the game just turned up and watched it under the West Stand
-
I must admit I am still slightly upset that we did not go up as Champions in 1978 as we played a boring draw with Spurs
