  1. Ah yes Raiders....in which Indiana Jones has no real influence on the outcome of the Ark.
  2. Because we seem to want to be ultra popular and always be the good guys like John Wayne. No doubt too much yank influence being applied.
  3. I am merely going by post 76
  4. Wouldn't read too much into it, it's a reserve team kickabout on a public rec type pitch..
  5. Well then I can see why we're in no hurry to sign a replacement because with an initial offer like that he'll not be going anywhere near Old Traff at any time soon.
  6. Schoolyard mentality I'm afraid.
  7. The financial circumstances of Strasbourg at that time had some bearing on the price, they were desperate for money and had to sell the crown jewels for a handful of coppers. It's the way French football works, there is a governing body who have every power over the clubs and they can send you down a couple of divisions if your budget does not balance. For instance Bastia have been sent down a division because they were 1.5 million euros short on next years budget so they hastily sell their prime asset to Montpellier for just enough to cover the deficit in order to get the decision overturned. Imagine where English football would be if there was an equivalent of the DNCG.
  8. I think he is their top target, I doubt that he'd prefer Arsenal who won't bid anyway.Utd are dragging their feet because they hope to get him for 25 instead of nearer 30. The more they wait the more edgy we become and when the bid of 24 + adds on comes in we'll think three or four times before rejecting it. It could have been that the inital bid wasn't the 20 straight that some seem to imagine, could have been more like 12 + Chicharito who ferked it up by breaking his collarbone or something, not that he wanted to come here anyway but we want him and he'll not get a game at Old Traff.
  9. In fact I think we may have blown our only real chance of becoming a top 6 club. We had all that it took last season, we were there and 6th at worst looked nailed on. We persisted with a striker who couldn't buy a goal instead of shelling out a few swans for an alternative and coupled with a serious injury to our only credible keeper we eventually managed the unmanagable and finished outside of the top 6. Now we have more sales meaning that the entire spine of the side will be changed again for the start of next season and top 10 may well be a very good position at the end of the season.
  10. But Les and Ron aren't responsible for recruitment initially, didn't we hire a bloke from Huddersfield to do that? They are obviously consulted but it's not their field.
  11. Yes, told you all that yesterday. Someone even found some You Tube footage of him getting sent off. He's really not a very good player and I'm surprised that we're even sniffing around players of that quality.
  12. Well as usual we have collapsed to 148-8, another big loss on the horizon. Can't we be relegated now so as to get a bit of decent cricket for the last couple of months of the season. We don't have a first division side and it's embarrasing.
  13. Now there's something I don't quite understand. Toby was supposed to be on about 5 Million euros a year at AM, translates to somewhere between 70 and 80K £ a week depending on rates of exchange. So we must have been paying him that mustn't we? Surely AM weren't subsiding the deal. So he was already on a very high salary which we must have expected to continue paying I suppose. We could have easily afforded the deal and knew the salary situation so going to Spurs culd only be a sporting decision for him really.
  14. Good to see that it's not just UK papers that print absolute crap though. https://www.voetbalkrant.com/nl/nieuws/lees/2015-07-07/akkoord-over-alderweireld-wij-hebben-met-niemand-een-overeenkomst
  15. Doubt if we'd be Top 8 with a defence like that though so it's really nothing to be concerned about. We'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully we'll have at least something strong enough to get us through our EU play-off games at the end of the month.
  16. There's a gif doing the rounds in which Morgan's,LVP's and Woodward's heads have been substituted from the Rachel,Ross and Phoebe airport episode at the end of Friends. Worth a look if you've not yet seen it.
  17. But then you may well find that what we actually do or have done is completely different from what we say we may or may not do. Saints like to appear user friendly and the ultimate good guys but it's best not to take everything that's said by the club officials as gospel. As I said yesterday I'm quite amazed that everybody seems to be desperate to believe all that's said by SFC. It's football, second only to politics in the application of the Machiavellian ideal. "Sometimes words must serve to veil the truith but excuses should be at hand in case the truth is ever discovered" Not the veritable quote of course but that's the gist of it, comes from "The Prince".
  18. Well it's Summer Transfer Window so there's always a certain amount of BS attached to that. Some days I do not follow the debate being gainfully employed esewhere so I was actually quite interested to know the facts, you may well be in the same boat..
  19. Did the club go public on that or was it just a press interpretation of some other comment?
  20. Tbh those who pay any attention to whatever professional footballers may or may not say are usually rapidly disillusioned. They go from being "over the moon" to "sick as a parrot" in nanoseconds.
  21. I am absolutely amazed at the number of people who seem to know the minute details of this famous contract. If it was so watertight then we should own the player by now having paid 8 million euros for him (not even 6.8 million£, it's a bit over about 5 and a half at recent rates). If we had had a contract like that then we should have smply transferred the sum involved to AM's bank and then claimed our right btro the player. It's all smoke and mirrors I expect, we've been strung along once again. Not worried myself, we'll get someone else.
  22. A more assured future perhaps. Not to start any great sillyness here but I am not really impressed with our transfer window so far, we seem to have had some big targets and bought some pretty average looking cheapies. Plenty of time yet but really I doubt that our next season is as assured as Tottenham's so far. On the other hand perhaps Shani just fancied Hertfordshire more.
  23. Once again..exactly why wouldn't we have had 11 million £ available or obtainable ? I keep hearing that we may have no money for transfers before sales but no-one every seems to be willing to have a stab at why that would be.
  24. A club like AM can find 2 million € down the back of a sofa. Not having it is not an option, not wanting to give it to us is.
