I see that according to the Echo Saints have loaned Arsenal keeper James Shea. Really a from a newspaper with some sort of journalistic skills you'd expect better. NB: Echo, you cannot loan something which you do not own, you can take it on loan though.

Let's just hope we don't have to go through the playoffs...

Do you not still have to pay income tax on Company Cars and your personal usage of them? -
Adebayor was on trial with us I believe.Came from Metz ? and eventually went to Monaco.

Who cares, it'll be a bore between Chelsea and Manchester Utd anyway. -
I'd leave it out before NYC if I were you but it could be a 20k trot I suppose. Depends if you fancy paying 25£ for a training run really.

Gaiters Hill is between West End and the White Swan (remember the "Mucky Duck"?) We would have gone down it that year because we came out of Cutbush Lane (starts behind Townhill Community Centre) en route towards Wide Lane.
-
not surprising, the last 10 in 83 were a pain,Megson Avenue,Cutbush Lane, Gaiters Hill (even going downhill is painful sometimes) and Burgess Rd (see I remembered) weren't what you needed after 16 miles.Plus I think it was a bit hot that day .
-
Nope no Lordshill in 83,it was only my second marathon (after the Polytechnic in 82) and I remember thinking what a sh*it hilly course it was especially the drag up from Swaythling to Bassett, I was gutting it out with Trev Clarke from Bournemouth at the time and people waving pints in front of us at those pubs by the University really didn't help.Plus I had a shoe (Nike Internationalists I think) rubbing like crazy since Gaiters Hill and wasn't in the best of humours.
-
There is no Southampton marathon now as far as I know. I ran there in 83 and 84 but it wasn't the same circuit both times.I think in 83 we started from the Avenue (somewhere near the White Gates) did a little circuit of Shirley, dropped down through the town, came back up Bevois Valley and Portswood,Bitterne Park Triangle,Manor Farm Road,a bit of Townhill and then back up through Woodmill and up the main drag towards Bassett (can't remember the name) to finish on the Common. The second year I get the distinct that impression that there was no Shirley loop and that it was 2 13 mile circuits involving going over the Itchen Bridge.

depends if it's windy really. if I remember rightly if the wind is from the west on that day then the last 3 or 4 miles are a bit of a pain. Then again I haven't run there since about 93/94 and the course may have changed. No GSR for me this year, Toulouse Marathon the previous week-end, my first 42k for 5 years.

Easy job there then, the bloke is a walking sick note and a total c*nt.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC

Why would Nick want to come to this forum and explain himself? If you want an explanation you only have to go over to TUI and look it up.TSW is not the centre of the universe you know, I think Gallileo proved that but he forgot to mention it . -
How many games can we afford to lose from now on?
Window Cleaner replied to CWD's topic in The Saints
In fact if you look at last year's tables Norwich and Leeds were both beyond 60 points after 30 games and 28 games respectively. Norwich took 32 points from their last 16 games and Leeds 28 from their last 18.By last season's reckoning we wouldn't even be in the play-off positions with 48 points from 28 games and Bournemouth wouldn't be anywhere near the automatic promotion places with 53 points from 30 games. This season seems to be totally atypical so far with no one putting points on the board on a constant basis apart from Brighton who are on roughly the same points/game ratio as Norwich last season. So in theory any combination of W/D/L that brings us 2.1 points a game will be more than enough to finish 2nd behind Brighton who for me are already promoted as were Norwich at this time last year. -
I think it was a Senagalese site that I saw because it converted the figure into Central African Francs (some sort of virtual currency that is used for reference in former Francocolonies if I remember correctly) . http://www.looklife.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=820:pape-waigo-ressenti-par-lascoli-un-club-de-la-serie-b-italienne-&catid=44:immigration&Itemid=57

Don't know why we don't loan him out for a couple of months to get some real experience. He doesn't get on to the pitch with the first team,is too old for the academy and the "development squad" have a match once in a blue moon.Surely he could get a game somewhere or other.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
Window Cleaner replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
It would be quite interesting to know though if those who defaulted on staged payments for STs last season were allowed to renew them this season and under what terms.I mean if you were a St holder last season but defaulted on payments does that make this season's a renewal or a new purchase. Wouldn't be good if those people got better treatment than Nick. -

Window Cleaner replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
In fact if Nick I has been to every home game and paid £20 (or whatever) each time the club would have to give him his ST for the rest of this season for free.Doubt if they'll do that though. -
It's an appreciation thing though isn't it.We know that 2 monster clubs have offered terms for the signature of AOC,we know nothing of the sort regarding AL.You can only surmise from that that AOC is more highly regarded from outside the club.

How many games can we afford to lose from now on?
Window Cleaner replied to CWD's topic in The Saints
Last season we drew far too many games, 14 I think, 23 wins and 9 defeats. Those draws were where we failed. This season we're only at 6 draws so far,8 defeats and 14 wins. We could certainly afford to lose at least 2 maybe 3 more provided we win at least 14/15 of the others. If we start drawing too many games again we may have difficult in gaining automatic promotion even without losing a single game for the rest of the season. -
As I said yesterday the cost of having him here was probably far too great with respect to his effectiveness. I read on a site somewhere that his "estimated salary" is about 550/600K euros a year. Could be crap of course but that's nearly 10K a week over a season and I really doubt that he was worth that to us.

Shin Pad Rash. Anyone Know A Cure?
Window Cleaner replied to View From The Top's topic in The Lounge
There are brands that seem to cause less allergic problems than others, I seem to remember from when my son was playing Uhlsport was about the least problematic and Adidas was about the worst. Could have changed now. He used to put on some long cotton majority compression socks, then the pads, then the football socks. -
he's a Portsmouth supporter already so I guess being a "tranny" wouldn't make much difference.
-
we should have won at Tranmere and Peterborough. Rochdale will be tough.
-
If they do the pressure on us is increasing with every passing match. Means that every game in hand has to be won. I really don't fancy our chances on Saturday if we play as not well as last week.
-
Stats don't mean very much, scoring goals does. Charlton were 1 down, fought back to lead 3-1 and then conceded a Fergie time goal.Charlton may well cause us serious problems, I really wish the away game against them was behind us and we'd got at least a point from it.
