Oh well... better head off to work now. Was worth being late though - First half I thought we were going to get battered....2nd half we played like the team at the top of the League. Awesome second half. If ever you could take a moral victory from a defeat this was it. Now we have to take the 2nd half form to Wigan on Saturday and get 3 points. COYR!

Transfer Deadline Day Who's in Who's out?
AussieDog replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
Agree that all 13 could all be surplus to requirements....but unless there are incoming people in similar positions it would be suicide. Fox? Hooiveld? Davis? Guly? Think we will be lucky to see half a dozen leave - and some of those won't be on that list as they will be young players loaned out, or permanent deals for those out on loan already. Will be lucky to get 2 in and doubt it will be any of the names mentioned. -
Have done 3 cruises, 2 on Celebrity ships which were a class above the other one. Personally I would never go from Southampton unless luggage allowance is an issue when taking a flight somewhere, as you waste a couple of days, and if you don't have great "sea legs" then the trip down to the med can be a bit awkward. The last one we did started in Venice and ended in Barcelona and was for about 12 days. We tacked on a n extra day at the start to do some extra Venice sightseeing. The cruise quality was outstanding, and if you aren't much of a drinker you can get away with very little cash onboard. The evening meals really were top quality, especially considering how many they are feeding in a short time. We preferred early seating (there were 2 options) which meant we had the rest of the evening free to enjoy the entertainment (and give the huge amounts of food time to digest!). The big expense was the excursions and sometimes it's better to just do your own thing. The really popular excursions were quite pricey and also sold out very quickly. You could easily double the cost of the cruise with excursion costs

What do we call our new Manager? Anything we like until he learns English! I'll get my coat....

Realistically there must be at least 10 players who need to be moved on (that includes those out on loan too), but you never know when the next injury crisis is around the corner so I don't really expect many to leave this window. Maybe a 3-4 out and a few loans amongst the younger ones. Of the current 16 that appear in the team or on the bench, then DeRidder, Fox, Hooiveld & Guly must be the most vulnerable to slipping down the pecking order. I'd be amazed if we got rid of Lambert - especially to a relegation rival - unless we had a massive replacement lined up for him, and that would be a real gamble.

Early days but could you see the changes with MP tonight?
AussieDog replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
Watching from afar, it did seem as if were putting in more tackles higher up the pitch and first half I thought we were excellent. I also thought we cleared our lines better than in most games. There was plenty of passing around at the back when we had the time, but when the ball was getting put into our box there was none of this half-hearted clearances that always leaves me with my heart in my mouth and the expectation of the ball in the back of the net. Some of the balls we played forward from the back when we weren't under pressure were given away cheaply though. For a first game, I'd give the Manager 8/10. He didn't tinker with the team too much, but I felt he had done what he had said he would do - ie defend from the front. One final thought - for someone who is claimed not to be very mobile, I'd love to know what distance SRL covered. He was on both flanks and down the centre and I thought he had a great game even though he maybe should have scored at least one of his chances. The header past the post probably being the easier of his chances. -
The manager doesn't win games, the team do. The Manager picks the team (allegedly). Can't see how the new guy is going to do anything any different unless we get 2 or 3 top top players this window, and he isn't going to know the teams strengths like Adkins did, so I'd say the odds of us getting relegation would have shortened. Hope I'm wrong though, as in a perverse sort of way I love getting up in the middle of the night to watch my team play every week and that is only possible because we are Premier League!

Protest before the players come out on the pitch, protest after they have left (even more effective if we have won the game), but we're Saints fans and regardless of the changes, surely we want the team to still win? Get behind the team that Nige built. The players haven't done anything wrong and they deserve our support. If you really believe that strongly then you won't mind getting home 45 minutes later and staging the main protest after the final whistle.

Jack Cork @ 80's might be worth a fiver. Think I'll pass on Mayuka @ 10's with Betfair though!

Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
AussieDog replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
Stand on one leg. Now imagine someone is going to kick you in the shins on your standing leg and try and move it out of the way. Let me know the result. Now bear in mind that Rodriguez was running at the time and wouldn't have time to put his other leg down and this all happens in a split second. -
Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
AussieDog replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
It looked like a dive on TV. To me the only question is whether he dived to gain a penalty or dived to avoid the lunge from the Villa player. The difference being the first is cheating and the 2nd is self-preservation. If it is the latter, what was he meant to do let the guy just hack into his ankle/leg and then join the list of other Saints players on the injury list? It looks to me like his right leg was the weight-bearing leg and if you move that out of the way to avoid injury then you are going to fall over! Being a glass half-full type of person I'll give him the benefit of the doubt this time. The ref is the one who has to make the call. There have been loads of bad calls in our games this year and this is one of the first that have actually gone in our favour. -
Meatloaf at Broadlands destroyed a legend for me, and many many years ago (early 80's I think) saw Paul McCartney at The Mayflower and most of the audience were already in their 60's and it was soulless. More recently I saw Stevie Nicks and it's the only concert I have ever walked out of

interesting that you think it is all willpower and discipline. In my 20's I could lose weight at will and was around the 70kg mark. 30's it started to get more difficult, 40's hard, and now in my 50's it is a real challenge. All the time my weight has crept up and I now weigh somewhere between 85 and 90kg. In my late 40's I was told I was Type 2 diabetic and I went on a real fitness drive. Gym 5 times a week, including personal trainer twice a week. I got down to about 81kg but just couldn't get past that, and then the exercise dropped off as I got disillusioned. I tried again last year and was doing spin or bodypump classes every week day, twice a day (lunchtime and evening), and played golf at the weekends. My food diet is reasonable. I don't eat sweets, chips, I don't do fizzy drinks more than a couple of times a week. I probably drink 3 or 4 beers or glasses of wine a week at most. Probably 2 cups of tea and 1 cup of coffee a day, all with skimmed milk. All my doc says is I need to exercise more. That's fine in your 20's but I just don't have the energy (or inclination!) to spend 2 hours a day exercising. If I look back over the past 15 years (I'm 53 now) I would say I am probably a similar weight now to then, it's just fluctuated 5-10kg during that time (I probably peaked at around 90k about 8 years ago) what do I try next?

Me and the ex-wife always used to go away in the Feb half term (being as she was a teacher not a pupil....lol) Canaries invariably had sunny days, but Tenerife could be a bit temperamental Morocco - Agadir good for the beach, Marrakesh 10 degrees cooler but as you are at a higher altitude it didn't feel that much colder Malta - pleasant but only around 18C on average - the locals will still be in their winter woolies at that temperature! Cyprus - great coastal but could be chilly inland - in fact you might even have snow on Mt Troodos (can't be bothered to check the spelling) Madeira - same sort of temperature as the Canaries but being further into the atlantic it could get a bit wild and wooly at times. Tunisia - similar to Malta, weather wise Crete/Corfu - but too early in the season, same as the Balearics, but you might strike lucky, but then again you might as well go to the south of Spain Never got to Egypt, but I'm told that can be very pleasant if you head down to the more touristy places. Gambia - was on the list of places to try, but the marriage didn't last that long!

I loved his stuff from early 70's most. My particular favourite was "The man who sold the world" The title track was also crucified by Lulu...

4 games in 10 days is a big ask, so do we rest a couple of players in preparation for the Arsenal game? Wouldn't be surprised to see 2 or 3 changes for today's game. Lambert on the bench is an obvious one but if we do rest a couple more I can't see us getting anything out of the game. I'd take 0-0 if I was offered.

ignoring the questions about having sex with more than one lady and whether I've had more than one at the same time I'm on 19. And based on the "three score and ten" + or - 5 I'm approaching the "old fogey" category. Now the question is...is it just the -3 for having sex with more than one woman this year or is it -3 for each one? The same with the 3sum. Can I have -10 for each time? With different women I mean - I don't think it should be more than -10 if it's been multiple times with the same women but as long as one of the women was different I think it should (the Missus doesn't like being left out, and I'm not going to upset the applecart when it's totally loaded with golden delicious).

Rugby. A game watches by pansies and played by thugs. Football. A game played by pansies and watched by thugs haha Looking at that video his eyes were on Van Persie when he kicked the ball so I'd say he meant it, but the guy got booked for it and that should be the end of the matter Merry Xmas everyone

Met my wife on an internet site the year after I moved to Australia. Been together since 2004 and married since 2007. Site is more of an "adult" nature, so wouldn't be to everyones tastes but it worked for us

They often reckon you end up supporting the 1st team you see play, or the first club shirt you get. Well my favourite Uncle took me to my first ever game at Fartton Krap as he is a Portsmouth fan. Why is he my favourite Uncle you say? Well the 2nd game he took me to was at the Dell under floodlights, which blows that 1st theory out the water, and shows that even a P*mpey fan can have moments of clarity (although he'll never admit it). My first shirt was a Bournemouth one - the old black & red stripes which I thought looked pretty cool. Don't know what happened to that (I think I was about 12), but I still have every Saints shirt I ever bought cluttering up the place, which I guess also blows the 2nd theory out of the water There's about half a dozen scores I always used to look for. Rangers because, even though I am not religious, I hate Catholics (I don't actually hate anyone but it seemed a good reason at the time), Stenhousmuir because my other Uncle followed them as his 2nd team for some unknown reason, Pompey because I knew how much my Uncle gets annoyed when they lose, Newport County (Wales, not the IOW!) because I happened to catch a game there once which was the Welsh Cup final and it seemed bizarre that a then Div 3 club would be playing in europe. Can't say I have any real allegiance for Australian teams although I have been to see the Brisbane Roar on odd occasions. I'll also try and look up the scores of any team that has a player with a Saints connection. So that gives me plenty to do on a Sunday morning For some reason though, I do still have a genuine soft spot for Bournemouth, even though the only player I can name is probably Lee Barnard who can't even get in the team at the moment!

No, it will be cancelled and the season will end with the league tables as they are now, so we will have avoided relegation!

Agree that none of them are 1st 11 starters when we have an injury-free squad but several of them are adequate substitutes. I guess by getting rid of 10 or so (you missed some as well - DeRidder for starters and maybe one or 2 of the development squad possibly) we would free up some of the salary bill. Quality over quantity
