Should Oscar Pistorius be allowed to compete in the Olympics?
AussieDog replied to jawillwill's topic in The Lounge
Of course he should be allowed to compete - BUT there should be rules governing the "abilities" of his prosthetics. In golf there are rules limiting the characteristics of both ball and club and the same principles could be applied here. I'm sure some crazy scientist could work out the dynamics somehow. He definitely shouldn't be able to compete with an unfair added advantage though -
I think Peter Shilton was a pretty big one, and going back to the 70's Peter Osgood was too, but I can't think of any in recent memory that have made me think that way

So who are our biggest rivals now then? There used to be a team in blue down the road, but they probably rate on the same level as Crawley now and I can't seem to get excited about them either. Are we going to base our rivalry on locality or on nobbishness? if it's locality I guess it's probably Bournemouth, but let's face it....Bournemouth??? They'll always have a chip on their shoulder, but you just want to pat them on the head and help them on their way . I think the only reason they would end up in Southampton would be from a state of age-related confusion (not that I mean to belittle senility or Alzheimers) - so I guess that leaves Reading, but if it's nobbishness then I guess it could be Brighton or even West Ham?

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

It's not leg speed that is important it is speed of thought and the speed the ball is moved on that is more important. -
Why? Is your opinion based on any facts? We've certainly had a crop come through in the past if you want to go back 20 years, but I will admit it is a rarity. Just because it is rare doesn't mean it can't happen. Do you ever say anything positive?

After letting 1 goal in during normal time and 4 penalties, shouldn't we be calling him tommy Fivepast now?

Is the the same Einstein that also published a paper with his long-time collaborator Nathan Rosen showing that implicit in the general relativity formalism is a curved-space structure that can join two distant regions of space-time through a tunnel-like curved spatial shortcut? http://www.krioma.net/articles/Bridge%20Theory/Einstein%20Rosen%20Bridge.htm

All in my own opinion of course....but you'd be a fool to think that alien life didn't exist elsewhere in many places, and that some of those life forms would be more advanced than us. If they are that advanced, then I'm damn sure they could watch us undetected. You'd also hope that with advanced intelligence would come the realisation that death and mayhem are a pointless waste of time and that, unless we became a threat to them, they would leave us alone.

But will you have any decent beer and what about some Balti pies for afterwards?

The stupidity of some people never fails to amaze me. Why both he and Le Tiss felt the need to bring this out in the open astounds me. The only thing that doesn't surprise me is the greed of some footballers. They earn more in a month (or a week!) than most of us do in a year. Even in Claus' & Matyy's time they were still earning shedloads compared to the "average joe". Greed + Stupidity is not a good mix!

Good job I'm English then

Now that Poopey are in League 1 the rumour is that they are contemplating making League 1 games 5-a-side with rush goalies just so that they can field a full team

I think both Fox and Harding were made to look "ordinary" at times last season as Lallana went missing defensively at times. I think both Buttner (if he signs) and Fox could both play a LM role with Harding at LB if needed. Either way, our flanks will need to work much harder defensively this year.

If he wanted to go then there's no point keeping him against his wishes as the likelihood would be that he would become disillusioned and fail to fulfil his potential. Hopefully he would see that his development would be best served here where he has a sniff of the first team in the next couple of years (rather than like Jack Cork who just got loaned out everywhere before getting the message he wasn't going to get in the first team squad at Chelsea). If he does go, then 4 mill sounds OK - as an upfront payment. If he is as good as they think then we should load it up massively with future add-ons and percentage of future transfer.

Just ordered this one for my missus for 200 bucks. http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/10-inch-tablet-pc-android-16gb/ She wants it to check facebook and look at cooking recipes pretty much. Don't think spending three times the amount on an ipad is really going to float her boat

Was veggie from 1990 to 2002 but was lazy and ended up lacking in certain vitamins. Then started eating fish. Then moved to Australia where all the veggie restaurants were sh1te and the supermarkets had very little choice (told you I was lazy) of beggie ready made meals so just gave up and went back to eating meat. In my opinion, the meat over here is generally disgusting as they pump it full of preservatives, additives and water. Food quality control is very poor and years behind the UK. I would happily go 90% meat free again, but do like the occasionally bacon & egg sarnie, and a decent BBQ!

Our Future? Stadium Expansion Proposal on Season Ticket DVD
AussieDog replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
I haven't read all 600 odd posts so apologies if this has been mentioned - but if we are going to expand the ground wouldn't we just do one stand at a time and spread the cost/ ground increase over a number of years, depending on whether or not we fill the increased capacity? -
1. 19 (was 10 before I moved to Aus....and before I developed a shank) 2. I haven't shanked it today yet! 3. If you don't practice what you've been taught your muscle memory won't remember so how the hell do you expect your handicap to go down! ...and currently I spend 5 minutes on the putting green before my weekly/fortnightly round so have to rely on my natural talent to get within 10 shots of my handicap However, plans are afoot to rectify this situation as I am moving to a house next to a golf course in about 3 months time and intend to take the opportunity to use the practise facilities daily. Honest. Oh...and if anyone has any genuine ideas how to get both the idea of a shank out of my head and actually cure me of it I will be very greatful!

A bit of a failure when you look back - not good enough to win L1 or the Championship and couldn't even get to the final of a mickey mouse cup without the lottery of penalty shoot-outs along the way FFS.....Cortese out!

The Southampton Way is diametrically opposed to the Portsmouth Way. For a few years their "way" appeared to be the correct way to the outside world (but not of course to Saints supporters), however the natural order of the universe has been restored and now everyone can see that the Southampton Way is the way to go. A bit like everybody knows that 42 is really the answer.

I don't think it's beyonf the realms of possibility that Adkins would go to Liverpool, and that this may have been in the pipeline for a few weeks. Remember Adkins comments when we got promoted? Seemed strange at the time. Plus the rumours about Cortese looking elsewhere. The question is....do Liverpool have the balls to about someone without a major reputation (even though, personally I think he would do a great job, just as he did with us). Of course...all of the above rumours started in here..... Doesn't mean they aren't true though!

Newcastle at home. Saints to win 2-1. Matt Le Tiss to come off the bench and score 2 classics. Oops...sorry I regressed 20 years. Goals by Sharp and Hooiveld
