You can't separate his fitness from his evaluation as a player - it's the reason clubs have stayed clear of him (Never mind his play outside the box is quite different from Pelle's). Hopefully a good preason will make a difference; but until he shows more, talk about him being Pelle or anyone else's replacement seems a tad premature.

Austin has shown very little so far. Not saying he won't. But it suggests a bit of caution is warranted until he does show a bit more.

Replacing pacy and/or tricky attackers is the biggest crapshoot of the lot. If Mané and Tadic leave, can see us bringing in 3 players, including a prem-tested player a la Townsend to spread the risk.

Tickets should be easier to obtain than last season. Bigger stadia, bigger allocations, especially if we're drawn/seeded in the third tier.

We won't be in the top tier of seeded teams, so there's a chance we'll get them. I assume we'll be in the 2nd or 3rd tier for the draw.

Not really. Clasie and Romeu were for Morgan and Cork (who had not been replaced in the previous window). Caulker probably did more harm than good - either way he was a loan filling in for Gardos and soon f**ked off. Cedric and Martina give us provisional depth but that is ultimately outweighed by the sheer drop off in quality from Clyne.

Why would I think VVD's inclusion is silly? Perhaps our scores are purely coincidental. It doesn't mean I'm using the same criteria to rate a player. Indeed, I think an awful lot of those selections are questionable and markedly biased to easy-to-measure things like goals/assists. And it's not just this: everytime I check whoscored after a game, I'm frankly puzzled by some of their grades and the degree to which theyre out of line with what other fans and experts have seen.

Does anybody take WhoScored stats seriously?
