Marc Jackson consortium has moved to due diligence.
SFC Forever replied to derry's topic in The Saints
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. We all want, as saints fans, to hear that the deal has now been done. The new owners showing us their plans and hopefully that they are of one mind with regard the future. That money is available and that ST's will be available very soon. What we don't want is the moronic ramblings of the demented few, who seem willing only to be perpetually on a wind up. I would much rather be discussing the possible signings of cheapish experienced/highly promising players ready to fight for the cause in Division 1 and the man who we would choose to lead them. We expect money to be tight so give us a break and clam up if you know diddlysquat. -
Am I right in thinking the longer it takes the more Fry gets? If so the creditors could be a lot worse off if they wait too long couldn't they.
-
Hit it on the nail. Though to be fair a few might have made more effort if we hadn't had the "Dutch Experiment" last season.
-
I was taken there when I was a minicab driver working the area. I was told to wear my colours and did. The boys there can be good if they know you. I got smashed and had to get my car two days later which they found hilarious.
-
Which part of Bermondsey are you refering to? The place is a dump.
-
What money did shearer have to spend? He has only been there for 8 matches. Not that I think he would do us any good though.
-
I go mainly when I am able. Last season as said previously I missed some because of Lowe and the goings on at the club. Next season ideally, I will buy a season ticket for the first time in a while. Though I am still likely to miss the odd game. At the end of the day one scare like this is more than enough.

I raised my hands to admit that my reluctance to see the matches more often helped our decline. I also don't really want any of the previous board back but I am prepared to learn from my errors(occasionally). I fully expect the grass to be the same unpleasant colour but am prepared to swallow my pride and hope that by backing the new owner/s we can at least give them a chance. They will deserve at least a chance to get it right. The previous regime made many blunders and we have to pray that we don't go through the same catastrophic scenario again. A divided board and fanbase didn't help. By getting behind the next lot we will at least have the chance to see our team play. We think we know that money will be tight so won't expect many signings. All we really want is a team of tryers that can actually win some games, consolidate and grow.

I may be a bit slow but 8.5m must be close to the required sum. The problem then is how much more will there be for normal running costs? Players and a manager need to be found pretty damn quick and they all cost money. The sooner we get bought the sooner we can start thinking about season tickets. I would also suggest that a friendly pre-season match against the enemy would be a good money spinner. Not that they are ever friendly. I would have thought that the consortium expectations seem a bit high with regard to the attendance estimate but if they are close it would certainly help.

I have just read the whole thread and feel bemused. None of the questions seem to be easy to either understand or answer. I dislike Lowe for his mistakes and pompously arogant mannerisms. Marc Jackson may be a fool of the highest order. Previous board members have let us down intolerably. Yet if any one of them came in and saved the club(EVEN LOWE) I would still be a saints supporter. I have been watching our team for 56 years(old git) and would dearly like my kids to have the chance to do the same. Having seen the mess we are in I feel I have to ho;d my hand up for not supporting the club for the last season as much as I could. ALL WE WANT IS A CLUB TO SUPPORT.

Thats what fans do. Praise the man when we win and slag him of when we don't. More so if we know we could and should have done a lot better.
-
Thanks for the reply Clapham. Still doesn't make me feel any better though. Surely money in the bank now is a lot better than the other choices available. A possible increase albeit slight or the folding of our club.
-
Question for the knowledgeable. If we end up with no deal does Fry get everything that he says he has earned? Or will he be like the rest scratching for a pittance.
-
We are still the only club to have the winners of both FA Cup's at the same time I think I remember reading recently..
-
Not yet but it is a worry. We just have to live in hope
-
They aren't pulling up trees but they aren't doing to badly as they have no money either.
-
Problem with that is that the less time we have to prepare will only weaken us still further.
-
I know that some will scoff about this. However if we get our club back in one piece is it possible to bring the ladies back into the fold. Even if only to play at staplewood. They do still wear our colours. Now comes the flack but never fear I have my jacket on.
-
Like it. Cheapskate

I would also add that Saeijs turned out a good loan signing and he must have been picked by Wotte. We loaned too many inferior players and thus couldn't afford to get the one or two players that might have made a significant difference. Wotte has shown a slight level of learning and I suppose with that thought could possibly do a job for us. We do need someone to back him though if he is kept on.
-
I agree that our backs were constantly caught out. However we had no midfield to support them. James finally started to earn his corn as did Gillett. Not many others could say the same thing. The sad story unfolded simply because we were not prepared for the race.
-
The timing is what beats me. ST's would normally have been up for sale by now and that money would have kept us going surely. Add to that the sale of two or three players and I have to ask why then?
-
The vast majority of supporters could see very soon after the start of the season where we were going wrong. No muscle in the team. Players with no experience getting sent off because they couldn't cope. A management team that had no experience of English football. No out and out striker. No out and out Stopper. An inefective midfield which was always overrun or bypassed with one pass/clearance. A refusal to change the system when needed. I could go on but if we could see these things as mere fans why couldn't the management. Or could they see it but didn't have any say?
-
Just seen on sky that Fry has informed them that the talks have "stalled"

Bill Shankley once said "Football is bigger than life". That said why do we have to watch the numpties squabble amongst themselves over petty mind numbing points of grammar, or the use of exclamation marks etc?
