  1. All very well, but most of the commentators are viewing the situation looking backwards only. Cortese will be considering how he can shape the future and if he thought NA could not fulfil that vision then he is only going to do one thing and that's make a change. One thing is for sure, at least we're not seeing the youth coach being appointed to 'save money'.
  2. Yeah - had a chat. He says don't worry he'll be fine - he'll remember us and hold us almost as dear to his heart as the Scunny fans. (Hope that makes you feel a bit better).
  3. Oh dear...open letter eh...sent to who? Sometimes I despair.
  4. Excellent post - completely agree.
  5. Good post - but just remember one thing. Everything - including giving Adkins a chance in the first place - has been masterminded by Cortese. And he's not been wrong so far. Adkins is in a comfortable place - he's proven himself at the top of English football - he will never need to worry where the next meal is coming from or indeed if his last million might run out. He'll be OK. And hopefully he'll always remember us as fondly as he clearly did his Scunny friends.
  6. [quote=View From sention't think I've read anything on here, twitter, elsewhere, where anyone has suggested not. That doesn't, however, mean that we can't let the world know on Monday night that we don't agree with the decision/timing/way in which it was done. For me it was a decision that should have been made either months ago or at the end of the season and whenever it was it should have been handled way better than it was. I understand the sentiment and agree it was strange at best, however these things happen and there are more important things in my life I guess that allow me to react to this situation in a rational, calm and reflective manner. Nothing I say or do will change the decision - the only reason to dwell on it would be to use the situation as a platform to cause trouble. Some people like doing that - it's how they get their kicks.
  7. Still of the same mind. Gutted we've lost NA but realistic enough to know that nothings forever (even Nigel knew this) and the club will move on (as will NA). I'm a Saints supporter - I do that by going to support the team with fellow supporters regardless of who the Chairman, Manager, players or tealady are. Pochetino deserves our total support- as do all the players - let's draw a blue line under it and move on.
  8. Certain people just seem to like the sound of their own voice - militant knoobs always with a cause - not able to see the big picture. Not that I'm generalising of course.
  9. Pathetic. You're either a plastic or a skate or both. Good riddence - no spine.
  10. While I didn't want to see Nigel go, I can't help thinking that those wishing to protest at the game are more interested in their own self-promotion than in the well-being of the club. Happy to sing one round of 'one NA' and stand to clap him, but then get on with supporting our team.
  11. Done
  12. Well I expect he will have received a handsome pay-off, but that does not remove the bitter taste this has left in the mouth. Hailed as one of Englands bright managerial prospects, it is a massive disappointment to see Nigel go and especially when it seemed sure that we had turned a corner in terms of getting to grips with the Prem. I fear for the team spirit and I fear for our success to survive this term now. Thanks Nigel - you will never be forgotten by Saints fans. Now having said all that - let's rewind one minute and remember Cortese's decision to axe Pardue. I remember feeling highly disappointed then (and after a great win too), but look at what happened after Nigel was appointed. I think the new guy needs to be given the benefit of the doubt - just like we gave Nigel. PLEASE guys - don't go booing the new Manager or even Cortese for that matter - it will be extremely counter-productive for one and secondly, I guarantee we'll be singing Cortese's praises if his visionary Chairman-ship takes us even higher up the table.
  13. Oh crap - here we go.
  14. We will lose this one - Everton are our bogey team now. 1-3
  15. I believe this in the same way as I believe there is a chance of snow causing a postponement of the Everton game. Think slim.
  16. Actually I am in some respects more surprised not to see Calum Chambers getting a sniff of 1st team action. The games I've seen him play in leave me very impressed indeed - he has a great eye for a killer pass.
  17. Looks like it might happen Friday (as usual) which will be a great addition to the team I think. I do hope though that this is not the only one we're trying to get across the line - the Astori deal seems to have gone deathly cold now.
  18. Dream result. Adkins deserves massive credit for being brave in his selections - totally totally got it right!
  19. Ben Reeves perhaps, but we have an extremely promising 17-yr old LB coming through the Academy ranks hot on Shaw's heels. Can't remember his name off-hand.
  20. Don't like the look of him - too small and feeble and has got pace and we don't need any of that. Plus as he's used to wearing yellow and red, he'll clearly get confused by us only going out in red or yellow. (Just applying the usual logic shown on here of late).
  21. Agreed. Those who are suggesting it was an average performance are wrong...(a) in terms of expectation, he was starting from behind the blocks and (b) he was put under undue pressure from a make-shift central defence.
  22. Agreed. However, if Adkins has made it clear who he wants and Astori seems to fit the bill, then Cortese will need to ensure we get the man without being mugged. This of course is the difficulty - no player is worth getting mugged over. I see no reason at the moment to get excited about this particular player.
