So who would we want in if MP does go ?
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
What I find remarkable is that there are some on here that are taking the OP seriously in answering the question! PMSL. -
Who gives a monkeys and what a bunch of over-reactionary sad muppets some people are. Let it play out and see what happens eh? When has anything been straightforward or obvious when it comes to Saints and Cortese? We're all still here - the world's still turning and the sun's out. Some kid somewhere died today of cancer. Get a grip - there's more important stuff to worry about.
-
Cannot believe this to be true - Cortese IS Saints, so basically he can't reach an agreement with himself. RIIIIGHT!

The way we play is here to stay as long as Nicola is in charge and Poch is the manager. If Lambert cannot find a way to adapt to this new style while his teammates can, it will be a necessity to drop him to the bench. As a comparison, JRod has come on leaps and bounds under Poch. Lallana is another player that needs to find his way but in a different way - he has bags of potential/skill etc., but he is lacking the quality in the final third now. You can only squeeze so much out of a given player - if they've peaked there's nowhere to go for them but back to the bench. My feeling is the following first team regulars are struggling now... Lambert; Lallana; Fonte; Hooveilt; Cork. That's almost half the 1st team. To move to the next level, all of them need to be replaced with 20%+ better players. Others like Fox are already providing adequate cover.
-
Lambert is good for two things - dead ball FK's from just outside the area or pens. That's it nowadays it seems. His goal scoring ability from open play has pretty much dried up and withered unfortunately. Is that him or the system being played? Either way, I think MP has some serious thinking to do in the summer - no sentiment allowed - we need a younger more agile alternative. If J-Rod is that man, then we need a young bullish striker to 'replace' J-Rod. I predict that trying to shoe-horn Lambert into the 1st team next season could do more harm than good in fact. Lallana needs to hand back the armband too.
-
PS: Tell me what our top goal scorer did today to cover himself in glory? Poor display again from Lambert to be fair - offered no threat.

This ^ - well, for a while anyway until Punch decides he wants a holiday then all bets are off.

Sunderland 1-1 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Absolute dross from Lallana and Lambert. Poor performances from Jos H and Cork. Need to sort out the front-line issues in the summer - far too pedestrian in attack and not clinical enough when shooting in front of goal (if we ever do). -

Support today was dismal. You can tell who the plastics are who have only turned up for Prem football - shame on 'em all. -

I agree with all of that except Clyne - he had little cover today and was bullied by two big players at times. WBA are a clever, pacey, well organised team - one of the best I've seen in the Prem. They outshone us at our own game and won. MP needs to do some careful squad surgery early in the summer recess or we'll be fighting at the foot of the table again. -
Villa more likely at the moment. But who knows what may happen - it's all too close to call.
-
I just want them in a domestic cup game...that will be sweet.

Good point - Lallana's goal looked fine to my eyes. Think the teams kinda cancelled each other out. Ramirez was not looking very great. Nice to see Mayuka beat Guly to the bench and subs appearance. -
What a weird and totally irrellevent question.
-
Oh no, one of our players wants to play for Utd. That's it then, it's all over. I blame Cortese.
-
Sorry to have to burst a few bubbles around here, but this will more than likely be an entertaining loss. Swans 4 - Saints 2.
-
Well if this is not the impedus needed to extend the stadium to 75k seats and add a radio station, I don't know what is. Next they'll be criticizing our world-class catering FFS.

What wavelength is Roy Hodgson on ..?
Saint Fan CaM replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Agree with those saying that Woy needs to take his head out of his backside and start walking the walk when it comes to selecting in-form English players to play for their country, rather than the names we usually see. There'll be no change though because the English FA is rooted in the past propping up the old guard and protecting their own little world from anyone who wants to modernise. If this were not true, then we would have seen a step-change by now. -
Stunningly wonderful news. -10 and low gate receipts will hopefully see them drop through the trapdoor of L2 too - would love to see them getting horse-whipped at Eastleigh. hahaha.

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
Saint Fan CaM replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
If we don't strengthen the squad very early in the transfer window so we get a full summer of training camp in, then I'm afraid we will finish 17th. I know this because I found it out on this forum. I daren't disagree, because it might upset the apple-cart and we'll get relegated as a result - it's forum law. -
I doubt very much that we will buy a high-wage earning 29 year-old, especially with a wealth of talent coming through the Academy. And frankly it's a bit daft even thinking we will.

If Saints Supporters had taken over the club....
Saint Fan CaM replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Am I pleased they didn't fold? Yes - the rivalry is great and there would be no gloating to be had at their slow drop down the tables if they went bust. Am I pleased they are still in L1? No - they don't deserve to be and I will be pleased if/when they go down. -
I really like Chappers - great player and well worth the money we invested in him. I feel a bit sorry for players like though - they work their socks off to move a club on, but then have to move themselves because they're not deemed good enough - usually players that ability-wise sit between the Championship and the Prem. Makes them look like journeymen when that's not really the case. Hope he sorts his injury out soon and finds a deserving club (if indeed he is on his way).

Team playing well under Pochettino: MYTH
Saint Fan CaM replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Pochitino knows how get team playing to beat top attack-minded teams. He now needs to learn how to sort out defensive hoof ball teams. He will, and when that happens we will really kick-on. -
Saints 3 Liverpool 1 - Post Match Reactions
Saint Fan CaM replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Outstanding performance and a result that was fully justified. I don't want to hear any nonsense from the media saying how poor Liverpool were - Saints completely dominated that game and taught them a football lesson. I cannot believe how many hoofing route one balls Liverpool tried to make - they just didn't come here with a game plan.
