Err, what about the Ambitious Realists? Thats the party I fall into, as I suspect many others do. There's really no need to be derogatory when trying to argue a point. The big problem for many on here is they cannot debate properly without jumping onto their keyboards in some fit of rage and have a juvenile slanging match. Keep cool - it's only a fans forum. LOL. PS: For happy clappers, I suggest another tag - the Blind Optimists! LOL

An excellent post FF...assuming it is all factual of course, which I strongly suspect it is. Crouch indeed should be honoured for his unselfish and generous contribution to Saints future - if it were not for him I suspect we would not have a club now. A true Saint if ever there were one. One last point. IMO just because we are clearly fortunate to have been saved by Markus and Co., does not dilute the fact that they have a duty to the clubs supporters to provide the adequate resources to make the club successful. Otherwise, what has been learnt or improved from the Lowe era? Nobody is expecting Kaka and Rooney, but we are expecting better than what we have had. And so is AP. It is essential to do this to (a) stop a further relegation (b) at least try to have a decent season and win some games. This league is as difficult to get out of as the CCC and there are some peeps on this forum that seem to think we'll breeze it with the present squad - but we will not....ask Leeds fans about that.
-
How many times have we heard that though in the past?! Its the standard excuse and its the fans that have to suffer with poor performances from a team not up to the job. Why should we pay good money to watch an inferior team? I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of my team losing.
-
If I agree with you, can I have my happy clapper badge and be friends with you forever?
-
Err no it's not. All that tells me is that Burley made a poor managerial decision. Or to put it another way, why does a manager HAVE to wait until the end of transfer deadline day to sign a player? Fact is if the resources are there and the manager is good at his job, it actually does not matter.

Interesting statement that... who are these people? 'Fast food' has been with us for at least 25 years now, so that's a couple of generations. Does that mean that if we were born more than 25 years ago for example, we are not a part of this group of people (counts me well out!)? Fast food ain't what it used to be either...fast food my *rse!

What I am saying is, the last 24 hours is not a great idea - it was the old regimes way of doing things and we paid the price in two relegations. Why keep on doing this? I may be wrong, but I for one am not impressed with the idea that it will all come good once the season starts. It has nothing to do with expecting cash to be splashed as such and it is not about patience...its all about proper preparation. If ML bought the club not thinking that there would be every likelyhood that we would need emergency resources very quickly, then he was poorly advised IMO. My impression was that ML and his team DID know there would need to be urgent attention to the squad - the trouble is we're still waiting to see some sign that AP will be supported adequately to arrest the decline.
-
Surely these are just excuses though? If the new regime were really any different to what we've previously experienced, AP would have the resources necessary to make decisive moves for the men he needs. As an example, if that's the case, why has Murty not signed - it seemed a nailed on certainty to me? Either the offer is derogatory to him or AP does not want to make an offer yet or he has been let go. All strange possibilities given the circumstances of our ownership, previous messages of hope and the fact that we're so close to the season starting. I do wonder whether AP is finding it very hard to convince players of any worth (i.e. better than the youngsters) to come to us.
-
I would agree with you Andy. However, there's no news of Murty signing one week since a good performance in the Hearts game. All the signs are that Rasiak wants out and will not be stopped from leaving. Schniederlin has not played with the 1st team alongside Gillett in a decent friendly. Thomas couldn't make it past 70mins in the Hearts game. The squad is paper thin in terms of depth.
-
You were doing really well until you got to this bit - nobodies whinging and posting on here is pathetic eh??? Well that covers everyone including yourself then! What you're saying is, if you don't agree with a persons POV then that persons POV is petty moaning and that person is playing no part in making this club great again. Either you're mad or a very poor conversationalist, or both?

Good observation Nickh...kinda aligns with my feelings.
-
What? I think you'll find that statement is not true of my posts if you care to check. Try doing some proper research before making false accusations JB.
-
Thanks Ron - if I didn't support the team I would not have been one of the 1st to renew my ST and certainly would not bother to post my thoughts on here, knowing there would be the usual trolls throwing abuse. It's not as if I am in wrist slashing mode - I thought it was a perfectly valid observation given AP's comments in the Echo actually.
-
Yes, this is a valid point. My point though was not directed particularly at AP or ML's strategy as such, just that in the past we've been royally shafted IMO and it would be great if this was not the case at the start of our bright new era. I was probably one of the very first to renew my ST by the way, so I cannot be accused of not being swept up in a wave of optimism, however I am equally keen to see a change from the ways of the past when we were treated as mugs by you know who. It would just be nice not to have to wait until shelves were bare and the shop shutters were being brought down, before we got a cohesive team together if you get my drift.
-
Look, either discuss the topic with an ounce of intelligence or f*ck off with your stupid infantile jibes sonny. This is a fans forum - get over it.
-
Am I excited about this? Err, let me think about that.... Err. Errr. ....I guess that's a no then.
-
I have an uncomfortable feeling that the ST ticket deadline has once again co-incided beautifully with the start to the season. And like other previous years, we all stump up our ST money hoping for a rejuvenated and improved team, only to be informed that there's no money to improve the squad. AP's latest commentary in the Echo on playing kids is not too encouraging - heard that one before have we not? I know we've just been saved and we should be eternally grateful and all that stuff, but I hate feeling that I've been taken for a mug once again by paying my hard-earned for a sub-standard product. Come on Markus and Alan - give us something to really cheer about so we can start this next season of games on a high. PLEASE!
-
Well I've not seen any confirmation. Which to my mind is quite worrying given he put in an excellent performance against Hearts and was not subbed off for the entire game. Not bad for a player supposedly out of condition and not match fit I would say.
-
Well, if one were to read between the lines in this Echo piece today, I would say AP could be getting his excuses ready already. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4522749.Pardew__Youngsters_need_time_to_develop/ Basically, "the youngsters are too young, but I may have to play them". It would seem on that evidence (if true) that all those billions are not going to be put to good use obtaining us better players and so far today, its looking a bit bleak TBF.
-
Mmm, shame. Perhaps.
-
Still at the club and on the payroll?
-
I'm kinda with you on all of that. I wish at this point in time we could say for certain that Murty will be with us though.
-
Incredibly sad loss to English football. RIP Sir Bobby and best wishes to his family.
-
Err, I do hope he knows enough about L1 to get us OUT of it, not keep us in it!!!
-
New Saints Player...not a signing though!
Saint Fan CaM replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
Mmm, not in the best possible taste to be fair and I have to admit to being a little rattled by that. If it had come at any other time (i.e. when the club is not facing a -10 point overhaul in L1) I might have been midly amused, but now of all times seems a little thoughtless and somewhat juvenile of whoever used that title.
