  1. Listen to his interview on Solent. He says he has two systems and he's sticking to them. They are not 4-5-1 or 4-4-2. He won't say what they are!!! They are the systems Pardew knows and wants to use. But above all he said, and I agree, it has nothing to do with what system you use. It is about winning players with a winning mentality. Amen to that!!!
  2. Magic. That's what we want. A Chairman who backs a manager's judgement and a manager who thanks his Chairman for it. Long may it continue. I bet Pards had to talk NC into paying a guy who had been out for two years with injury....
  3. Optimum use of a message forum, proving a mate wrong!!!
  4. Shame we got that fourth against the Gills really...
  5. My Charlton supporting pals do point out that Pards signed two players for them (I forget which) who were injured within a short space of arriving but are now behind their current form. In fact, given what he did with Charlton, these lads are quite forgiving...! Although we should also remember that three players he didn't sign - Morgan, James and Lallana are also playing out of their skin. So it's not just his ability to spot and bring in a player. For me, it's the first time since WGS that I feel we have a REAL manager in the dugout. I have all the time in the world for Pearson but I still never felt he was more than a good coach and disciplinarian. Pards makes so much sense to listen to.
  6. Hahahahah. That really was a magnificent barnet. How come we let him get away with it?? And did you notice he also had the first beer belly at SMS this season...
  7. I so hope so!!!!!
  8. Young man takes a lot of flack on this site, much of it unwarranted. Yes, he still has the occasional Amityville moment, but they are becoming fewer and fewer. Yesterday, I thought his link up play was excellent, especially with Hammond/Morgan/Antonio, and his delivery for the goals was absolutely first class. He has a wonderfully accurate right foot. Even the thinking with the corners and freekicks has improved out of all recognition from earlier in the season. It's one thing to know you're supposed to chip the ball at ankle height into the path of your forward, it's another thing to do it perfectly. Well done LLoydy, my unsung hero of the game.
  9. Good call. He had a good game.
  10. I thought we just cancelled each other out and spent far too long with the ball in the fecking air!!!!
  11. I think he's a bit of a hot-head who will probably grow up, or turn into Gary Neville
  12. Conversely, isn't Hammond a great outfield captain? Did you see him shout at Connolly late on to mark their keeper from the throw-in? Then when he pressed the keeper, the ball was kicked straight up and we nearly created a goal. It is so much better to see a noisy team than the quiet one of the past three/four years...
  13. We did not play 4-4-2. Connolly played as a loan striker.
  14. You're overreacting. For the first 15 minutes we were ok in a blunted game. Then we were so-so, then we were ordinary. Then we gave away a pathetic cheap free kick. Then half time. Then until 52 minutes we were poor. Then for the last 38 minutes we were very good. HTH
  15. Loved it when he stuck his tongue out at us!!! And then when he and their gingernob had a row about one of his kicks. Priceless subplot to a great game!
  16. Actually I cannot have grown up ion Petersfield as Wikipedia cites it as having 200 days of sunshine per annum ahd the last time I remember that was 1976!!!
  17. I onoly bought 'em to ogle Erica's knockers... not sure I ever read 'em...
  18. Mind you, I didn't arf buy a lot of books for a period in the early eighties
  19. As a resident for 18 years, feck all you cheeky fecker!!! Some of us saw enough sense early enough to support the correct 'ampshire team!
  20. What is incredible about this thread is that we cannot name a single duffer!!! Now, be honest, when was the last time you could say that about a manager?
  21. To be fair Alps, there was no Lowe factor when Manchester United rolled into town... Gates are up because we have a new owner with money and with that, genuine hope. We also have a fine manager and some excellent players. And we're winning! (This is not to suggest that Lowe was in anyway not the root cause of all the above not being in place!!!)
  22. Speak for yourself I would love to be a Bertie Big Balls...
  23. I think you meant Barcelona - same country...
  24. DOWN NEGATIVE MAN DOWN! This is exactly the attitude that must be eradicated from this football club. The eternal pessism of the Saints fan must be replaced by a relentless confidence - the confidence to dig deep in tricky situations and set a standard of performance to which the TEAM aspire. To be winners, requires a winners' mindset. This is not the Southampton you were looking for, this is the NEW Southampton - brighter, bolder, more daring, more positive, more dependable. Yes, we're still a work in progress, but not losers, not any more. That mantle has gone. If this team let you down on Saturday, give them merry hell. Because we are not underdogs anymore, we're the Real Madrid of League One, and it's about time we lived up to our billing!!!! I am confident we will.
  25. Just back from working at MI5 and strongly advise you not to walk around your house naked. That Transit has two of our agents in it.
