  1. Alex has a choice. Stay and play football every week, go and get splinters up your arse.
  2. Agreed - although there are teams in the Premiership who are comfortable on the ball in the main - Arsenal and United, for example. The problem is even the best teams often contain players who are not comfortable on the ball. Dangerous to liken all of English football to Barca tho' - they could beat anyone because they are outstanding, full stop.
  3. Listen to Karen Brady spouting off... tsk...
  4. You are probably right, although at least we both agree he could easily deliver promotion... Carlos Tevez (cough)...
  5. Really?? You think there is better corner, crossing and free kick delivery in the Championship? And another player who could add 10k to the gate and get the international media crawling all over us like a rash... do tell!
  6. I want us to make an offer to Becks. Get him back to the UK, sell 10,000 more season tickets. And he could really do a job for us on and off the pitch.
  7. Last season I started sitting in the Chapel right behind the goal. Sit there. We still win and you don't get some spotty fifteen year old calling the lino a c u n t - which they're not, they're just incomptent unfit middle-aged men (apart from that bird you would want to be hanging out the back of...) And if you want an atmosphere in the Chapel, here's some advice: open your mouth and sing. Not hard football, you know.
  8. Who says you need managerial stability...
  9. You can't buy what Barca and United have in the same way you can't ask to be a legend. They have history at the top level and even Chelsea and Manchester Citeh can't buy that. However, that doesn't stop us dining at the top table. Look at what Porto achieved under my favourite manager. If this plan is to succeed, then we need to invest to get out of the Championship - which I've no doubt we will. But then I suspect we will need to employ the special one...
  10. The more I look at it the more convinced I am that might be a bit of value...
  11. No, they tried to get rid of him and it went pear-shaped. You only need to look at the success they had with Birmingham to know they're no mugs.
  12. Hmm don't be so sure. Gold, Sullivan and Brady are no mugs. They know they need to be in the Premiership and have masterminded more unlikely promotions than Fred Goodwin...
  13. Are those serious?? Wow, 10/1 is bloody short to win the league! What do they know that we don't?
  14. I am looking forward to a weekend by the seaside. As for that other shyte hole, I wouldn't go there if you paid me.
  15. I'll never forget Arry's first game. 2-0 up with five minutes to go and then we capitulate thanks to that ridiculous Higginbotham own goal - he didn't need to be anywhere near the ball... typified our problem. Total lack of professionalism. That 2-1 against Everton wasn't unlucky, it was unprofessional. Crouch had the ball. He takes it into the corner and we win 2-1 simple... God I hate thinking about that season!!!
  16. Agree with all that. However, I can't be the only one who can see a wry Fergie smile when he takes Posh up and Preston have come down....
  17. Only if we are 3-0 with 20 minutes to go.
  18. Whatever you think of the wrongs and rights of his recruitment, and irrespective of the tools at his disposal, Nigel Adkins has done a very good job. He came in to get us promoted and has delivered. The gap to Brighton was created by Dean Wilkins and Cortese. Had we started with Adkins, I don't think there's much doubt we would have creamed this league. It's wrong to credit the basis of the team being built by Pardew (and I am/was one of his biggest fans) as plenty of other managers have inherited great squads and then singularly proceeded to feck it up big time!! It's as much of a challenge to win over another man's wife as it is to woo one from scratch my friends - most often harder!!! Adkins has proven he is a top class League One Manager - end of. Now he has to prove he is a top class Manager end of. And as a gambling man, despite interviews that sound like cliché bingo!, I wouldn't back against him just yet....
  19. I am fairly confident she didn't write it. Could have been Billy Ray? Of course, for your generation Joe McEldrey covered it
  20. ...For reminding me why I started supporting this club and why I still do. Away trips to Adams Park to stand in the rain and watch a boring draw in the company of other real football fans are what every Manchester United and Chelsea fan alike should have to endure for at least 12 months in every ten years. For, in the words of Miley Cyrus... Ican almost see it. That dream I'm dreaming, but There's a voice inside my head saying You'll never reach it Every step I'm takin' Every move I make Feels lost with no direction, My faith is shakin' But I gotta keep tryin' Gotta keep my head held high There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side It's the climb The struggles I'm facing The chances I'm taking Sometimes might knock me down, but No I'm not breaking I may not know it, but These are the moments that I'm gonna remember most I've just gotta keep goin', and I gotta be strong Just keep pushing on, but There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side It's the climb There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side It's the climb Keep on movin' Keep climbin' Keep faith baby It's all about, it's all about The climb Keep the faith, keep your faith, woah We might all strive for success, but we won't all make it. And football, like life, is a journey not a destination, to be enjoyed not matter the direction. Up the Saints!!
  21. Glad to see these results. They reassure me that we do have people with sense on the board as well as the nutters...
  22. Correct - cost me a bloody fortune that change of manager three games in! Anyway that is now irrelevant. The question now is who do we need in the close season and will Cortese find the funds??
  23. FECKING Come on You Saints!!!!! That is all I have to say before leaving for the game.
  24. Great - the more people who text, the more they think we give a s*** which we don't. Football fans are full of s*** which we have to put up with every week, every pub conversation and every 606. Why not just SHOW football and let people talk about football for the other 6 days 23 hours when this god-foresaken excuse for a football programme is not on?
