  1. Without a striker I think 14th is the best that we can hope for Fair comments IMO
  2. You know exactly what people mean, you are just being pedantic as usual. Was Dia premier league standard ? He indeed played in it ? No thought not. Fox isnt of the required quality to play a regular feature in the PL, he is NPC standard but not PL standard, its really not rocket science.
  3. Hahaha Wet Sham and Cripple palace... Excellent wit, truelly brilliant. Fwiw I think Downing will be a good player, Chamakh is ok if deployed the right way, Wenger is brilliant at starving his strikers of the service they found there form with. Make no mistake Id have taken Downing, I tend to make up my own opinion rather than jump on bandwagons Other than that its a good thread. Bony - exactly the front man we need and want IMO Caulker - young, point to prove, steady CB Hooper - Worth the punt IMO
  4. Best signing ever
  5. You know what I meant, you are just making an arguement out of pedantry.
  6. FFS everytime I mention anything regarding Lambert people take it as a personal slight, the man is a footballer, a very good one, but a footballer paid by the club. The same as Hammond, Chaplow, Fonte etc etc etc There comes a time that to move forward you need to improve, Lambert has proven himself in the prem but as the end of the season showed me he isnt the answer to the way we play or want to progress. We are looking at top European strikers, do you honestly think they will sign 'to give rickie a rest ?' I love Rickie as much as the next man but I love Southampton more and realise there is no room for sentiment in football
  7. Ill be slated for saying this but 5m for Downing is a great bit of business for WHU. Jarvis down one wing and Downing the other, Carroll upfront, nolan behind and playing very solidly ? They are going to have a good season And he can play LB
  8. Desperate times Tokes desperate times
  9. Nice contribution, you should post more
  10. Its not that I dont disagree, we should be in stripes IMO but my point was that he always make an effort to drag our name into conversation and somehow put us down. Never realised the Lowe thing, I have read some stuff of his about other clubs too, now, its probably something to do with this fact but I tend to find him abnoxious and not of an opinion I agree with.
  11. Lambert will get goals but realistically the reason we are looking for a striker is to do with the fact Lambert isnt the man to take us to the next level
  12. Now, Im not usually one who adheres to the whole anti saints agenda thing as generally I dont believe it. This man however obviously has a bee in his bonnet about us, Im not saying everything he says has no basis of truth as generally it does. But everytime I hear him he seems to want to comment on us for one reason or another. For example, sunday supplement this morning all talking about Coventry and Hull city and then he goes off on a tangent about the fact we have not woreany real stripes for 2 years and was talking about it for about 5-10 minutes. Now its not that I dont agree we should wear stripes, it just seemed oddto have to move to us ? Especially with other clubs who have had worse tradition changes then us. (Cardiff, mk dons, hull etc) So does anyone know where the bad blood comes from ?
  13. Conolly will be the best player at the blub if he stays fit......
  14. Exactly, as I said earlier I believe the only player good enough to break into a consistant utd 11 would be Morgan and he still needs to produce again this year even if we dont talk about the vast differences in tactics. Excluding Anderson you have Fletcher, Jones, Giggs and Carrick all of which (talking ability not age) are better than Cork and probably Wanyama. Lets remember Wanyamas fans tell of an athletic box to box powerhouse mot necessarily a tidy middle of the pitch ball player. Cork may end up at Carricks level but he isnt there yet, as tidy as he is he just isnt expsnsive enough yet. I dont watch Utd week in week out but certainly see enough to make an opinion and rarely let my bias get in the way when discissing our players as its not useful to the debate. But hey, maybe Im not a Saints fan ?
  15. TBF Wanyama didnt reject us on multiple occasions. FWIW despite all of Bazzas pandering Im certain this isnt to do with money, we have offered enough apparantly, on both counts. He just doesnt see us as an option. A lack of European football doesnt help
  16. Im not bad mouthing Lampards achievements by the way and is certainly up there as far as top english midfielders are concerned. Just think of the two of them Gerrard is the better. And he deserved to play with better players than Jay spearing. He won a CL with Traore FFS
  17. I think even without our personal spats you can see my point regarding Liverpool not being the footballing powerhouse they once were, certainly in the Gerrard years and probably wouldnt have even been that without him. Im not talking stature, Im fully aware (despite my hatred) they are still a massive club.
  18. Sod it Ill say it, realistically the only player who would be a first teamer for any top team would be Morgan and thats only if he had another consistant season. That and his price is why he is still here IMO. If we arent in European competition and he has another top season he will be gone. On Utds midfield, as a cohesive middle unit it is probably better just but their tactics negate this really. Also only really morgan beats them, Carrick is a better deep lying midfielder than Cork and I cant comment on Wanyama properly yet.
  19. There was a large reason that Gerrard never went to a major club, despite tge fact any club in the world would have taken him (and yes, Real, Chelsea and Utd have made enquiries) and that was the only time he looked like moving the liverpool public threatened and shamed him into staying, this along with his loyalty. As per his so called tactical awareness, its a bit lazy TBH, when he was younger he was very good at the more regimented side of the game in both Liverpool red or England white. The fact of the matter is he has BEEN liverpool for the last 10 years, never have I seen a player drag a club to victories, cup wins etc like him and certainly not Lampard who at best I would say was a very very able contributer at best. Liverpool use him in the way they do because it is what he brings to the table and TBH its not 100m away from what chelsea do with Frank in the fact that teams were built around them, the only difference being that Frank has never been as dynamic and certainly not as rounded as a CM as Gerrard is/was. Nor do I remember FL ever being touted as the best CM in the world such as SG was only 5 or so years ago. England had some v v able midfielders in their midst recently and in an effort to incorperate them all callously wasted them. Lampard is good but looking at the two how anyone can pick him over Gerrard is rediculous.
  20. Thought you were already in that perticular group in one way or another ?
  21. I literally laugh out loud whenever I see that, proper mutley. That genuinely is so amazingly tinpot
  22. Agree'd up to the last sentance. Gerrard no question for me and always has. Doesnt take anything away from Lamps though, and the way he shoved the 'over the hill' shouts up everyones ass was phenominal.
  23. Its hard to pigeon hole players that way, what category would you put someone like Xavi or Ronaldinho etc ? They are certainly not CMs The same as Messi or C Ron arent exactly wingers or CFs ? They are incorporated into systems that get the most out of them esp in Messi's case
