Pilgrim House if you can still get a table.

Think city will win TBH, but if you are that worried i'd bet on both.

Lol at the greatest fans in the world. What do you reckon we took overall ?? Including the majority of Wembley Corperate tickets ?? almost 50k ?? More ?? Crazy really, i know they are not filling the ground but i honestly thought they would easily sell out their wembley allocation.

Thought it could be a good thread just to look at everyones thoughts about how we did, favourite players etc etc. And a good view of how they actually rated this seasons performance and why ?? Like they do in the papers in the school type way. Just want to gauge everyones opinions and hoping that this thread doesn't descend in everyone slating each other opinions. Let me do mine and you might get what i mean. My Review - Good first season in league one but could definately do better. The pre season definately did not help us but i think we had a better squad then to go the first 10 games with only 1 win. Pardew managed to steady the ship and built a team capable of beating any team in the division and looking good going about it, shame he experimented so much with the formation as IMO 4-5-1 was working very well. Wembley was a fantastic day out and good to see us getting some silverwear however minor it actually is. The final games leading up to the end of the season chasing the playoffs but a dull spell over Xmas probably kept us out of it. Signings - Very good signings for this league which have built us, on our day as very very good challengers. Rickie and Fonte where obviously inspired and are phenominal. Was disapointed that Pardew did not sign another CM in january perm or after on loan however, we look weak here. Special mention to Lallana/Schneiderlin that have really raised it this year and have been stood as tall as rickie in the player of the season stakes, IMO. Overall - B (great attempt, very exciting but could have done better)

I would argue that we have spent more money than any of those 14 cases mentioned. And yes, money is a degree of success, that is why generally the teams that have money and spend on better players will sit in higher league tables. Money doesn't buy success ?? except in the obvious cases of Chelsea and Blackburn ?? Money does buy success, not always but eventually. Totenham have spent crap loads of cash and TBH city are not a million miles away and a win Wednesday will put them in Europe all but. We have had a good season, but in all honesty, it could have been better.

Exactly this, We gave too many points away, lost too many leads and failed to overcome too many teams that sat back. Its a shame, it was a good season and a good attempt but good was never going to cut it this year and no matter what we had a chance that we didn't take. Still, NC would be mad to sack AP, next season, we should tear this league apart.

Indeed, and one which paid out when i bet on us not qualifying under him

The way i look at it, and the same i would say with england etc, is that you don't need your two strikers to score shedloads, as long as one is dominant in the scoring charts. He compliments Lambert so well and brings other teams into it, hounds defences and generally puts the fear of god up him. We had another work horse striker that nobody really rated but he was EASILY the reason that his strike partner got so many goals. That was Brett, Barnard is good for the team IMO and will probbaly get 15-20 goals next season to compliment Lamberts 30. It's all irrelevant anyway as i think we play better 4-5-1
-
Not saying we have had a bad season, but even disregarding the first 10, picking up those lost points against Tranmere Millwall and Oldham would have been a completely different kettle of fish, but then, thats football eh ?
-
Am i the only one that was worried when he said, in regards not starting Lambert. 'We needed to see where we were if we didn't have Lambert next year, and frankly thats not very good' As much as really believe he will stay, i will be sweating this August window
-
So what ?? I understand your frustration but really and truelly for the first time this season i wasn' worried i was away from a radio or data source regarding the saints score. Season is over, the sooner he gets an idea of the replacements he wants and starts working the better IMO. People are saying the reason we didn't make ENOUGH impact this season was due to a poor pre season, so if we get a chance of being ready from the start then thats better ?? Right ?
-
TBF, the only times i have seen him have a relatively poor game is usually the first game after he has a few out through injury or suspension. Otherwise he is easily our best player (or on par with Fonte/Lambert). As for James, some times i see him and think he has potential and other times i watch him and think he just has not got him. Then we have wooden, even if i hear his name i think we will have a bad day.
-
Yep, but without the slow start or even the crappy stuttery Xmas crap we had we would have had a better season. But its been good.
-
TBF, i think winning the league next season is more to concentrate on making St Marys a fortress and then picking up points here and there on our travels. 23 games at home and 69 possible points. St Marys will win us the league next year, you need to expect a few losses here and there from the park the bus teams

Antonio - Will he be a saint next season..?
Smirking_Saint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Like is said earlier, having a player returning to his previous club that was....all in all a fringe player, i.e not in our set in stone 8-9 regulars is hardly breaking up the team is it ?? We will do well next season, as we finished this season (our season was over when Oldham forced the draw). I'll put my hand up and say i was a little worried over the xmas period when we were stumbling but fair play to AP, we found our feet again, and next year we will be the favourites our squad deserves to be. -
Thought you meant the sweets
-
Connolly close.............but fails. Shame that Fonte sounded to have a bad game today. Also, what has happened to Antonio ?? Have we sent him back already ?
-
My experience of the NHS is that they are a bunch of incompetants that pass you around because nobody actually wants to say yes to the certain diagnosis scans that i actually needed. I have also been in the position i am in now twice in the past 8 years, same injury and both times they took over a year to actually diagnose me, even though i looked up the symptoms and said what i thought it was, which was correct. In some cases the NHS are very good, i will give you that, but in others they really are not. How you can say that the NHS have been a success under Labour is beyond me, what about all the MRSA cases and the dirty wards scandals ??

I would have equally lol'd big time if pompey won the fair play league with all the sh*t storm down the road

I accept this position completely, And think he will stay, but.... he is in his late 20's, and has pretty muched 'proven' his worth this season and people have upped and looked (weired how that happens as he did the same for a few seasons at BR) If he gets the oppurtunity of regular footie at Prem level he will go, as will any of us if we are actually realistic about the position he finds himself in.
