Lack of decent CB signing. (I know, technically 6 words!) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Its not as simple as that. Its also critical that the "first period of speed development" is maximised which for boys is between 7-9. Linear, lateral and multi-directional speed should be developed and the duration of the repetitions should be less than 5 seconds. It is also about recognising the onset of Peak Height Velocity (growth), which is influenced by genetics and environmental factors (climate, cultural & social), as a reference point for the design of training programs which on average is 14 for boys. Get these stages correct and you have great potential. To use a cooking analogy, you could purchase the best raw materials in the world but if you dont know how to prepare them, the mix and how to cook and for how long you can undercook, or burn (out) quite easily!! But I get what you mean......Saints are looking for players who hit most if not all of the important indicators. Vision, of the 3 factors you mention re Tadic is a learnt/trained skill. So if not Haller...who?

You're such a clueess ****. Being stronger in reality compared to our team/squad last year is completely irrelevant to finishing position because in case you hadn't notice you tedious troll, every other team is attempting to do exactly the same thing and at least all the traditional "big boys" have done so considerably.

I doubt very much that Wenger would want Wilshire to go to any of the traditional challengers - Man U, City, Chelsea - nor Tottenham for obvious reasons but neither would he get into any of those teams as first choice. Leicester have a load of midfielders already and Wenger wont want to help the Champions!! That leaves Us, Everton, Liverpool, West Ham and I guess Stoke as potential destinations. If I was Wilshire I would want to play in Europe and so we are clearly the only choice (in this country) but I could see him ending up on Merseyside. Personally I would love us to sign him on loan, he is better than we have, with the exception of Hojbjerg, and given his career so far would bring some real quality and experience to our team.

Cmon AR-10 let us know which position this £10m ish player is?!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The signing of Boufal is a very good sign, highly rated around Europe, mentioned in different list for performance and or potential. Him, Redmond and Hojbjerg are an excellent trio of acquisitions, young and exciting. If as AR-10 suggests we are recruiting another player for circa.£10m then I wouldn't have thought he would be an attacker. And my preference if we are "only" going to recruit one more is for a CB who can pressure Fonte. Being greedy we get a striker too! Unlike many on here who just look at the headlines (result of games) I am excited by the intention of Puel to play high possession football with quick and skilful players who can play around teams and counter. Exciting times ahead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ADAM LALLANA: "I didn't want to be Southampton captain"
MarkSFC replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
I think he changed after he got called up by England. It was the beginning of the end! Then Pochetino came in and clearly made players feel great and dream of bigger things. Great in the short term for a club but not in the longer term. From that interview he does come across as a someone who lacks confidence and needs a father figure. He comes across as a bit of a weak man, which I suppose was exactly what he was when he left. He will never reach the heights of adulation he had here, at Liverpool, but I guess money and association to a huge club is more important to him. Hopefully he will win very little there!! Jeez...Difficult to fly direct from Lille to London / Southampton so Eurostar quickest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On the basis of two good players per position this is how I see the squad at the moment; GK.......Forster McCarthy LB........Bertrand Targett RB.......Cedric Pied (Martina to leave) CB 1.....Fonte Yoshida CB 2.....VVD Gardos/Stephens (but I'm really not comfortable with those two!!) DM.......Romeu Hojbjerg LM........Hojbjerg JWP RM........Davis Clasie (Reed the 6th option!) AM........Boufal (hopefully!) Tadic LF..........Redmond JRod RF..........Austin Long So if JRod does go on loan we need another forward or if Boufal is actually seen as that, then another AM. And as I see it we then need a 3rd/4th choice CB who is better than Maya! Imagine a scenario where both Fonte and VVD are out for a few weeks......very scary! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Wasn't Targett linked with Newcastle earlier in the window? Perhaps they've decided it best for him to go on loan while maintaining our competitiveness by bringing in another quality LB to really pressure Bertrand. But this chap only joined Inter this summer[emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Barcelona also did quite well with a pair of 5ft 7 inch players in Xavi and Iniesta! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Come on AR-10, let us know the playing positions of the players we are going to sign!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Can you mention the positions?!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think it makes a lot of sense for JRod to go out on loan but it's a shame as I thought he was going to be a very good player until his injury. He may still get back to a good level but won't sitting on our bench. I'm sure we will replace with some quality if we do let him go. I think the next youngster that will come through is Olefema ( or however you spell it!) rather than Hesketh. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If we don't sign 2 proper good players then Les and the club have let us down. Having a plan is fine and over the last few years it has worked brilliantly, however if you do not understand what's happening in your market place and adjust accordingly you suffer (whatever the industry). My fear is that the club have not quite realised how much progression others have made are making. But we will see come Sep 1st. If we had swapped Mane for Benteke that would of been a great deal. That's the quality we need to get in. We also need another MF and move Reed on. Also a young CB who will take over from Fonte in a season and who is better than Yoshida now. Denayer maybe a good option as played with VVD at Celtic. I'm a patient man but we only have 12 days to decide whether we are progressing or going backwards Saints. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Denayer? Plus a decent attacker FFS!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Please supply link / reference to stated fact. It is obvious to most sane human beings that you spend money to make things happen and in football you have to spend it on players more that anything else in the current era. What's important is how that money is generated. This is where Saints separate themselves from the pack. They are not relying on handouts from the owner they are creating a business that is self-sustaining and this means selling players and buying others. What again seperate is from the pack is what we do with the player between joining and leaving. This development of people is the ethos of the club and that is the reason we have achieved. More importantly it is what will prevent us from going into administration again versus those clubs who ONLY spend money and look from season to season. I doubt we are not far away from a premier league club going under - brave statement I know but some clubs spend like there's no tomorrow. We don't, because we want to be here tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, and the next....and currently we are the best of the rest as you put it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First two....meh.......second two.....yes please!!!!!

I do not understand that sentence. Weird.

I find it very hypocritical of people who are critical of Fonte for having his head allegedly turned by Utd or a.n.other bigger club. He deserves his big move unlike one or two others who have left us recently before they have really achieved anything (Chambers for one). It would of course be a shame for us but seriously who can begrudge him it? If you contrast this to our lives in the world of "normal" jobs, and you are offered a cracking opportunity at a bigger firm, with more profile, and for a lot more money versus staying at your current one where you are loved, been very succesful and you love being at, it would be a very difficult decision, and I'm sure this is where he is in his head. So, if he does go, I wish him every success and will forever view him as a Saints legend. If he stays, then thats great too.

They are always 2 days before the game. Wed for Fri; Thu for Sat; Fri for Sun........keep up!!
