  1. Reeling one in I'm guessing he is hinting at....[emoji476] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. That is obviously the case but on the other hand it may mean we get a decent player that otherwise would be out of our league for a couple of seasons. Interesting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. No I don't find it worrying. Like I said it's a process and it would seem like Puels process is firstly about shape and then defending, attacking will come last in that process. If I'm proven wrong come end of September and we have hardly scored feel free to have a pop!! I did think today though that the pitch looked very slow, grass a bit long and possibly not watered so swift passing although attempted on occasion was not the best option. 4. When will you and many others like you realise that pre season is about the process. It is all about re-learning patterns of movement and getting used to any new tactics which clearly there will be with a new manager, albeit not a major change. The team has two more weeks of "training" and all of the main players will be back this week. Plus of course we will sign 2-3 new players to freshen it up even more. The kids looked OK 2nd half but I would be surprised if any are going to have a major impact this season. Sure a few will no doubt play in the JPT and possibly the League Cup but other than Reed I doubt many will have very many premier league minutes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Does the two include a GK? And assuming the Bastien rumour counts as youth?! Hopefully a AM/Striker and CB! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Our recent transfer business is focussed around selling players for top money and investing in making the OVERALL SQUAD better. This has been a mix of quality, players who will improve quickly and squad depth players. As the quality of the squad and team improves this mix becomes harder and harder to be sufficient. You then move into the realm of needing to sign more quality players, then more players to improve quickly and fewer squad depth who will hopefully be from within. As the quality of player need to come straight into the team improves then signing them becomes harder because clubs of similar of probably greater wealth will be outer competitors so these things will be tougher and therefore take longer to sign. Redmond and Hojgjerg are two that I am very happy with but certainly sit in the "improve quickly" category. What we need are a couple or three even of the "quality" category, and hence the time it appears to be taking!! The world we live in is full of pre-judgement (different to prejudice in this case) with very low tolerance by most for things to happen, and even when they do in this consumable world we soon want more news as soon as the recent news is announced! It is extremely tiring reading the impatience of most on here but not surprising! By the way, have we signed anyone whilst I have been writing this?!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Commentator on the live stream really talking Ziyech up!!
  8. Exactly....Arsenal have been signing "whizz kids" between 16 & 20 for years, but luckily we are far better at improving them!! Given Koemans comments last winter about the academy players coming through its fairly obvious that the progression of the first team has out-stripped the overall development of the 18-21 group, so a few additions at that level is very astute rather than wait for the group below who seem to have far more potential. 9. I never said we did. Your post suggests to me that you are very content with mediocrity. Those of you who "set" the limit of Saints in your head make me wonder why you are interested in SPORT. You are probably someone who much prefers ENTERTAINMENT of any nature where you are pretty much assured of the outcome before you attend. For me, following any sport and in particular football and Saints it is about the unknown. It is about coaching, hard-work, dedication, the will to win and the determination to defy the odds which attracts. However you judge a big club or a bigger club versus a smaller club we will never be the biggest but that makes supporting Saints even more exciting. If we always finished according to your tag of "mid-table club" what would be the point? Oh yes, you would be ENTERTAINED. I would be bored. Where is the challenge, where is the excitement, where is the adrenaline rush of coming from 2 down to beat Liverpool for example? I imagine you would of be entertained had we lost 2-1 and gone home happy....or turned the TV off happy. It is clear though that we still need 2-3 decent players which we should expect as the people in charge of our club "get" the SPORTING aspect of football far better than the vast majority of our fans! I have no wish to be ENTERTAINED at Saints games!!
  10. oh look, another thread for all the pathetic bed-wetters to let their irrational fears out of their tiny brains. I think that if we sold Pelle, Wanyama, and Mane on Day 1 of the transfer window and then bought Redmond, Hojbjerg, a CB, a RB, a GK, an AM a DM, a Winger, and a Striker on Day 2.............you'd all still moan and panic!!!!!!!!

  15. By decent back up I assume you mean decent young CB (early 20's) as opposed to a Caulker or just a late 20s player? What we really need is someone who is or very soon will be better than Jose who then effectively becomes a very very decent 'back up' CB as you put it. This phrase of "back-up" is not really relevant in today's football. It is very much a squad game and top teams need 20+ decent players, not 11 plus 11 back ups!!!! If you do you likely struggle. 16. I'm not. In addition to Long Austin and JRod we need another striker, hopefully a speed merchant plus an attacking midfielder of the Wyneldum sort. Add in Redmond and Tadic and that is a decent front line squad. We potentially have at least 10-15 more games (plus the travelling) compared to last season and so we need more options.
  17. Austin having an injury "problem" is an utter myth. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Austin And as much as you think writing off JRod is the sensible and safe option, I think you (and many others) are writing him off far too soon. I anticipate a hugely successful season for them both. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I wonder how much we would of got for LeTiss in his pomp at today's prices?!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I think Fonte mentioned him as a possible recruit a short while back! Or was that Joao Mario?!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. I'm not sure that the article suggests that we are basically done what I think is that the club are playing transfers down for two main reasons in my humble opinion; 1) to keep gossip in the media as low as possible (hopefully because we are going for 2-3 players of a quality where perhaps bigger clubs may want to get in on the act) and; 2) to help boost the ethos of younger players having opportunity to progress versus an ethos of simply buying buying buying. I'm certain we will see at least 2 more decent players if not 3-4. I do not get this RB thing though. Sure Soares and Martina are not the best in the league but they are pretty decent and obviously one just won the Euros....not sure we are that desperate plus Yoshida can cover there! Redmond I feel is effectively half a replacement for Mane as I see it - not in terms of ability I will stress as I think he is much better and will be much better than it seems most on here believe. He is though much more of the wide player than the best part of Mane which was through the middle. I think we will effectively cover that part of his game with a speedy striker which will at the same time compensate more for Pelle (I know people think Austin was his replacement and he probably is in terms of size and heading prowess in the box) but we do need another speedy type as stated. I imagine we will see an attacking type midfielder (don't really get this Number 10 thing as in different formations it's a different role) but a Wjnaldum type would be good. Well ANY midfielder who can contribute 8-10 goals!! Personally I think we need another CB and I like the idea of Kongolo (mentioned that before), left sided, a bit of European experience, and will develop. Our type of player. And of course we still need another GK although I do think PG has improved having watched a few U21 games last season but there's a big leap to the Premier league! Hopefully he will play every game in the JPT. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
