I spent last night looking for positives and, in and amongst the general fear and nervousness that seems to plague the team at the moment, actually found quite a few (no, really, stop laughing at the back there).
What I did notice (and against Millwall), was how many times something 'nearly' came off for us, but for whatever reason, be it bad luck, bad touch, slightly underweighted/overweighted pass, just too slow (a lot of that!!) to start a run, making a substitution earlier etc etc, it didn't come off.
As a small example I will choose an instance from both halves where we could have witnessed two of the best goals for ages. In the first half Lambert tried to chip the GK - 1" higher and it would have made it. In the second half, KD made a Beckhamesque pass to the right wing, beating the defender all ends up, for Paterson to run onto and shoot first time - again if that had screamed in etc etc. And finally the last 10 minutes where we had a good 5 or so chances including 2 free kicks just outside the box, the second of which produced an excellent save.
I honestly feel that we are not far away from a 'magic moment' where everything suddenly starts to work. I said a while ago that I think Saints are like a car you've just restored. At first it won't start at all, then lo! a cough, a splutter, firing on one, then two, then with one almighty backfire and a cloud of smoke, it's starts to purr!!
keep the faith COYR
