Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher were the greatest leaders of the twentieth century. Both were Tory. Margaret Thatcher inheritted a Socialist car crash and fixed a broken Britain. David Cameron will find himself in a similar position to Thatcher with the country broke and the public sector layabouts going on strike. From the comments at the Conservative conference it is clear that the wallers in the public sector are not going to be pay rises and nor should they. Private sector workers are having to accept pay freezes so the layabout teachers and post office workers will have to accept pay freezes too. Under Cameron we will have a leader that will not shirk from the tough decisions needed to fix the problems caused by 12 years of Labour and it's policy of rewarding the lazy and penalising the workers. It's time to get the slobs off benefits and drag them kicking and screaming to the workhouses.

The other week i made statement that we weren't delivering and that that wasn't good enough. I said we needed to beat Gillingham and we needed to beat them well - it was a must win game in my eyes. We beat Gillingham and beat them well. We drew against Torquay, but showed the character to rescue the game from 2 down. We went away to Southend and we took the game to them and got a 2 goal cushion and closed the game out with competence. You could not have asked for any more of the team and of Alan Pardew - welldone! That all said we mererely performed to our ability and this should be the norm for this Saints side. There is no room for complacency and relaxing because the minute we take our foot of the gas we'll be brought back down to earth with a bang.

So let me get this right - New Labour and Browns Labour aren't Socialist. That's odd because for non Socialist governments they've done a good a job of inflicting a traditionally Socialist mountain of debt on the nation. Socialists/Old Labour/New Labour/Browns Labour have all been governments of TAX, SPEND and WASTE. So in respect of the core values of Socialism i would suggest that Blair and Brown have been hero's to the cause. Every generation makes the mistake of falling for the TAX, SPEND and WASTE doctrine of the socialists and every subsequent generation ends up having to pay for the folly.

If only we'd ditched the Socialists at the last election the country wouldn't be in the mess it is now. Brown claims to have saved the world with his huge spending on the banks, but all he's done is saddled the country with debt to the tune of £20,000 for every person. We should have let the recession run it's course (as the Americans wanted to do), instead of putting the country in serious debt that'll mean a decade or more of high taxes and cuts to public services. It's a fact that the interest on the debt per anum is as much as we spend on the NHS. That's socialism for you! In David Cameron we have a euro sceptic and his cabinet (with the exception of Ken Clarke) are all euro sceptic too. For the first time in years we'll soon have a government that'll put Britain first and put the continentals in their place. Good times are ahead and generation has once again learnt the lesson that Socialism does not work.

You are correct in what you say. I have elderly relations (in their late 70's/early 80's) who used to go to the Dell and to Fratton Park to watch a game of football. Those who claim the loutish behaviour of chavs is part of football are very much mistaken. It's a relatively recent phenomenon and ties in with the troubled state of the nation following a period of Socialist mismanagement of the econony and the end national service. If it was down to me i'd bring back the stocks and put the louts on public display. Either that or brand them.

I just want to say a big thankyou to Mr Liebherr. You are without doubt the biggest hero in this clubs history.

One can only assume that the Opening Poster didn't attend many games during Burleys last season with us, because if he had he'd have seen what a shambles we were. Pearson inherritted a team that had relegation written all over them and he saved us. He then went on to Leicester and promoted them at the first time of asking. Leicester now challenge for promotion to the top flight. Rupert Lowe got it wrong again by bringing in the Dutch fools and it's a good job he did because had he kept Pearson we'd more than likely still be in the championship and we'd more than likely still have Lowe. Of all Lowes poor decisions this was the worst and the best decision all rolled into one.

I'm not being funny but bad language is part of football culture. Just because women and children now attend games doesn't mean we should change to accomodate them. There's a time and a place for swearing and football is the time and the place. In fact it's a good education for the nippers to learn words they can tell their mates at school.

It's long been my view that home fans should be shoved away in a corner and for logistical (police) reasons the Itchen North is the only available option, but after reading the views of those in the Itchen North it's quite clear that those in that stand don't want to move. I can fully understand their setiments and maybe if i was in their position i too would feel peeved. It's a balancing act between the good of the club (in creating home areas behind the goals to the benefit to the team) and the club respecting loyal fans who don't want to move. Whoever made the decision to stop selling tickets in the Itchen has made an error of judgement. Everything Mr Liebherr and Mr Cortese has done thus far has been comendable, but this decision by David Luker (acording to suggestions on here it's Lukers idea?) has done a lot to errode the good work done. I think the decision to ban matchday sales in the Itchen seats affected should be reversed and an apology issued. If away fans are to be moved it should be done in one fell sweep in the close season next summer, but those fans affected should be given a goodwill peace offering of discounted ST prices FOR LIFE at the goals/wings rate for any part of the ground they choose to relocate to.

Looking at the map above i reckon block 46 and 45 would be no different for Itchen Corner people. There's still going to be the banter with the away fans because the angle between will be the same, but we get the atmospheric advantage by creating a huge kop like Milton Road was. Blocks 47 and 48 could be the buffer zone while we get non capacity gates, but they can be reopened as and when. Give away fans blocks 1,2,3,4,5 (including away corporate boxes). Everyones a winner.

In respect of point A i'm saying it how i see it. I've sat in the Itchen North a few times and the crux of the stand is how i described. Don't take offence as it's not intended. I'm simply saying it how i see it: "Basically it's to watch/abuse the away fans and/or to pick a fight for after the match." B. There have been occasions when away fans have hired out boxes and this has caused potential trouble. It makes business sense and security sense for away boxes to be provided and for these boxes to be "in the away end". We have many empty boxes so it'd be prudent to offer provision for away corporate hospitality. We may have Mr Liebherr bankrolling us at present, but we should be looking at maximise revenue streams. As for providing extra capacity for cup games you are losing the plot with your ranting. Of course some home fans will have to move to make room. Your point is completely irrelevent to your grievance. I completely agree with you. This decision is disgusting. It's a canniving and sneaky plot. Those in the Itchin are effectively being blackmailed to leave with an ultimatem "Move and a find a new seat with your mates/family or stay and sit on your own in a half empty stand before we evict you in the summer anyway."

Initially yes, but i believe this is just phase 1. In the summer the away fans will be hutched around into the corner/itchen wing. I'm in favour of this happening. See post above. And why dont they give priority on the seats behind the goal? Cleatly it's preferable to put away fans out the way. I too used to prefer the Archers Road end, but prior to this being a home end it was for away fans. This was changed because it was a stand that gave a good atmosphere and it was nonsense for away fans to benefit from it. For the same reason away fans should be moved into the Itchen corner and should not have the benefit of occupying a bank of seats behind the goal. I'm in favour because it means less atmosphere from the away fans and therefore gives our team more of a "home advantage". I believe that over the course of a season the atmospheric advantage could be quite a few extra points. Look mate we all know why certain people like the Itchen North, and it's not for the view of the game. Basically it's to watch/abuse the away fans and/or to pick a fight for after the match. You'll still be able to get your fix from the Northam because away fans will be round the corner in full view.

I misread it too, but think think this is probably phase 1 of a two phase plan. To me it's clear that away fans WILL be moved into the Northam/Itchen corner next season. That's why they're trying to evict ST holders by making their stand like a morgue. I think the club have gone about this wrong and they should have evicted the Itchen corner ST holders next summer. The way Luker has devised (i.e the sneaky option) is not very respectful to fans that should be valued.

I feel sympathy for those in the Itchen Corner because it's their stand and you grow attached to where you sit, but i do think it's a good idea to make the Northam for home fans and that away fans should be put out of the way. Think of grounds like Elland Road where we're given that drafty corner where we can make a minimum atmosphere and this is how we should treat away fans. Ultimately by moving the away fans it eneables them to create less of an atmosphere and this in turn will help us to accrue more league points.

Can't we stop the squabling. We've had a great win and hats off to the players and Alan for delivering. Hopefully today is a sign of things to come.

I've got to agree with this. Pardew and the players need to get their act together and start putting points on the board.

I agree that we've improved, but i don't tink we've improved enough. I understand that it's only 10 games games, but we seem to have hit a brick wall and we're not doing enough to win games. Nobody is calling for AP's head now, but even without the 10 point penalty we'd be in the drop zone and that is not good enough. Fair enough he did inherit a poor team. He did inherit a demoralised team. He didn't have a full pre-season, but there comes a time when old excuses wear thin and the honeymoon is now over. I'm fully prepared to support AP because i like what he says and the way he says it, but ultimately talk is cheap and wins are what he must be judged on. 15 points from the next 10 games is the minimum requirement from AP's team as far as i'm concerned and we must be out of the drop zone by the end of the year. If it transpires both of these targets are missed then serious questions must be asked about AP's ability to do the job. We have a 5 year plan and therefore no time to waste. Treading water isn't an option. Change may be necessary.

This would be the same David Luker that requested a reduced allocation from Norwich the season we sneaked into the play-offs. On that occasion there was no guarenteed sale clause so there was no chance of Saints having to foot the bill for any tickets unsold. We got 1400 tickets when we could've sold 3000+. This would be the same David Luker who had the brainwave of making fans pre register an interest in away tickets. Talk about wanting to make fans jump through hoops. And the same David Luker that decided to charge fans to use the car park if they were travelling to Pompey on the supporters coaches the season we went down. It's hardly surprising David Luker is behind this latest air brained scheme.

I'm afraid i'm coming to the conclusion based on Alan Pardews past record and his time thus far with us, that he's simply not a manager that motivates players. I sincerely hope i'm left with egg on my face and a win against Gillingham will lift everyones spirits, but do i see Pardew being the manager who can lead us through the leagues? No. It's a shame, but that's my honest opinion. What we really need is another Nigel Pearson type manager who can motivate.
