Agreed. Plus why can't we buy season tickets once the season has started?
-
Exactly- so we don't get the £1 million or whatever it might have been if the permanent deal had gone through.
-
Despite being underwhelmed, I've got a feeling he'll do quite well and might be just what we need. Yes, it's not the most exciting signing in the world, but let's get behind the lad the monet he steps on the pitch for us.
-
Good list of questions there.
-
So you genuinely believe we haven't been after a striker? I'm pretty sure you'll be in the minority on that one.
-
Which striker could you realistically see us getting on the Bus next week?
Sour Mash replied to AndyD's topic in The Saints
I could well be wrong, but is it not just emergency loans that we can sign next week? And if that's the case, I can't see us getting anyone. I could well be wrong on this though? -
Where did I say they were the only one's involved? That's a bit embarrassing for you? They are the two individuals that are paid very well to take overall responsibility to make sure these things do happen. Of course there are plenty of other people involved, as with any multi-million £ deal in any industry and I'm sure there are a 101 things to organise and negotiate through, but that's the same for all managers. We've obviously gone after top quality strikers and centre backs which is great as it is what we need, but somewhere along the line our execution of the deals has faltered. If that is down to an agent, scout whoever, I don't care, it is NC and NA that are ultimately responsible for delivering.
-
Who says about going back into the mire? We've obviously put in big bids for players, so Cortese and Adkins obviously don't agree with you. It's just their execution of such deals that seems to be lacking. And as Turkish says, your 2nd point is just stupid.
-
I'm sort of the opposite to many on here, as our good start and great performances have shown how close we are to serious promotion contenders. A top quality centre back and pacey forward I genuinelt think we'd be promotoed and that's why it's even more frustrating that we haven't got them in, than if we were just floating around midtable. Adkins obviously agrees with me, as we have made efforts to get such players in, but something is certainly amiss with our transfer negotiation process, as we have had a lot of deals fall through of late. It make me laugh when people on here say they don't want Saints to be ripped off, pay over the odds etc, etc, - how do they think football works? Everyone is after the best deal they can get, you have to pay for the best players and gernally speaking in football you get what you pay for (yes there are always exceptions).

Look, it is quite an easy point to understand- my post was in reply to MLG's that stated that Celtic fans couldn't judge him because most wouldn't have seen him play - it is exactly the same prnciple with Forecast and Pulis as most Saints fans haven't seen them play, but still pass judgement on them. Doesn't matter what they may or may not have done previously, that's a separate point.
-
You completely missed my point, but I hope you enjoyed letting off steam.
-
You could say the same about Saints fans and Pulis & Forecast...don't think we were too far wrong on those.
-
Guess that's one of the areas agents do a lot of their work? Does seem to be a bit of a pattern emerging here with us going in for players and the deal not getting completed for one reason or another.
-
Hope I don't jinx it, but this sounds very, very, easy!
-
Strange line-up in my opinion. Fair few players who could really have done with a run out not even getting a look in. Leaves room for plenty of specualtion anyway!
-
We'll have over 1,000 there I reckon.
-
Guessing he'll most likely be on the bench? Can't see any reason to have a problem with that.
-
I actually quite like the breaks as it means I've got a weekend that isn't completely taken over by Saints - if I still fancy doing a game always a good chance to do a new ground in the lower leagues or a local non-league match. Or with the amount of money football currently costs, helps the bank balance having a weekend off!

Scott Dann for £5m. Break The Bank Time
Sour Mash replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
Don't think anyone is 'blaming' Adkins/Cortese for not signing players like Dann, but a top quality centre could be worth their weight in gold to us this season. I've seen all our league games so far and it is definitely an area of weakness - I'd speculate at it possibly being one of the few things that may currently be standing between us and Prem football, but we'll have to just wait and see....... -

I seem to be in the minority, but surely we should have a fair bit of cash to spend? We need a top-draw centre back and if you need to go and pay the going rate for one than so be it. -
Yeah, I agree with all that. Just suggesting a bit of perspective.
-
Think we've got to be a bit careful with some of the hype here - we were well out-played in the first half and very wasteful in the last third in the 2nd half, which resulted in us ultimately losing the game.
-
Just my opinion, but I don't think Dickson has had enough of a run in the team to show what he can do either way so far. Does seem like Adkins doesn't rate him at all though. Will be interesting to see if he gets a start tonight.

Advice on the laws of the game from Match officials
Sour Mash replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Lounge
1. Have said it for years now, defenders are for osme reason allowed to completely hold off an attacker and show no intention of playing the ball for about 20 yards while seeing it out for a goal kick, how the f**k is that allowed I never know. 2. Added time always seems to be between 3 and 5 mins no matter what happens in the game. I reckon the 4th official always thinks that's the safest, most uncontroversial amount of time and will stop him getting noticed. On a sort of related point, games never seem to kick off on time now - game at Leicester started at near enough 3.05. 3. Yep, that Spurs goal should never have counted. Surely standing directly in-front of the keeper directly impeding his view is interfering? I've got a fourth one - if a keeper comes for a cross, doesn't make it, but gets the slightest of knocks and goes to ground, its almost automatically a free-kick. If the opposite happens and the striker gets a knock a pen is never given. -
On the way / just got home from the game thread...
Sour Mash replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Saints
Exactly - both struggled big time in the first half, as did Richardson. No need to then just pick out Seaborne for stick.
