    De Ridder

This is the problem with so many people. (For the record I though he looked great when he came on.) Back to the problem. People seem to want every player to do everything. They want De Ridder to dribble round 3 players and score. They want Guly, Chaplow, Lallana and Cork to do the same. Do you think this is Barcelona we're watching? They are going to make mistakes and have bad games. Please don't jump on their backs because they don't perform amazingly 100% of the time. It's a team game and everyone has a role to play.
  2. I've just been watching highlights of Atletico vs Real on Sky. He looks a decent keeper. I highly doubt he'd come to us if he's only just signed for Chelsea. Maybe a loan in the same way we have Falque. You never know though. So many more opportunities in the PL.
  3. I'm actually only annoyed because we're not clear at the top. Shame not to get three points. Not bothered about pompey. They're relegation fodder and all their best players will be off when the drop gets them. A draw against us means so much to them. For gods sake, they were still singing "4-1 in your own backyard." That was two years ago and they were two leagues above us. They have such a chip on their shoulder and that's the way it always will be. **** 'em. They can live in their own bubble if they want. It's not just us that's sick of them anymore, it's most of the football world.

    Shut up
  5. Up: Obviously Saints. Brighton Blackpool This is who I want to go up. Great for South coast football and a bit of an extra kick in the nuts for pompey. I like Blackpool. They had a decent season in the Prem and do things the right way. They kept Holloway (even if he is an idiot) and didn't sack him as a knee jerk reaction as I would expect most clubs to do. It would be pretty amazing if two clubs achieved double promotion too. Not really bothered about sharing that with Brighton. Just be nice to be part of it. As for West Ham I would, Keegan style, LOVE IT if they stayed down. I can't stand the way they've gone about their business this season. Buying anybody with any amount of hype surrounding them. They'll regret it. However, my instinct says it will be: Saints Reading West Ham/Birmingham Down: QPR Wigan Wolves This is who I want to go down and also who I think will. QPR have done exactly what I hope we never do. Buying other clubs overpaid cast offs. I was rooting for them to be promoted last season as I like seeing old faces back in the Prem. But after watching 'The Four Year Plan' and seeing how they treated their managers I was disgusted. They now have quite decent players (Barton, Ferdinand, Wright-Phillips, Cisse) but they just look terrible. What the hell has happened to them. Wigan have overstayed their welcome. I have nothing against them at all, but their support is very poor and they don't add anything of value to the league. They actually play quite nice football and Martinez is a great manager but, I just think it's their time. Wolves are a great club, but I think they're for it now. Going down would show the board what a ridiculous decision it was to sack McCarthy and I think they need to see that. They'll probably come straight back up anyway.
  6. The only part I disagree with is that we regularly get 27k for Saturday matches. We have done that a few times this season but, in general, it's more like 21k to 24k.
  7. You've gone through a lot of effort making that table. But, this information has been posted countless times.
  8. No. Go to sleep and stop whinging.
  9. 6 in 27 games is hardly intimidating. Although it might be a different story at a different team.
  10. First Lampitt, now loaning out a player that is actually a regular for them. Seems Birch is actually making some dramatic changes down there. The fans must be outraged! Although they are now probably expecting Tevez to come in as cover, just till the end of the season. That's what the FL owes them after all.
  11. What exactly are people basing their judgements of Premiership quality on? Goals? Pace? Strength? Past record? Turkish has made the most sense so far when he said that it is all down to a number of factors but most importantly, the system in which the player is used. Allegedly, Chaplow wasn't good enough for Preston in the Championship. But now he's there with us and he's a first choice when he's fit. Puncheon was misfiring all over the place in League 1 under Pardew (first part of promotion season). Then he went on loan to Championship Millwall and did brilliantly. He also did pretty well at Premier League Blackpool. But, not so well at Premier League QPR. It's very narrow minded of people to be so black and white about things like this, especially with your own club. Be a bit more positive.
  12. Graham Poll?
  13. Guy who sits in front of me does this in his seat at HT. People do give him funny looks but then they seem to realise what it is. I only realised when the smoke blew in my face and it didn't smell. I can see the staff being funny about it tbh, but there's no reason IMO.
  14. Peter Walton is a disgrace. Also don't like Phil Dowd.
  15. Font is the correct pronunciation. There is no accent on the 'e'. We all still call him Fonte (Fontay) though.
  16. My question was rhetorical. There was no mention, or even a hint of, other people in your original post. It is/was clearly your opinion. That's all I'm saying, just stick to your guns rather than making up a story about it.
  17. Coldplay is an absolute no.
  18. Other people around you saying it? Who exactly were you quoting then? Why would you post what other people thought? Stick to your guns! Don't back track, try and win everyone over. Like 12 Angry Men.
  19. I don't want to repeat what others have already said but, he did get up after a strong tackle. Plus, he also held up the ball on the edge of their box and then provided a cross. Aside from that he didn't really need to show any physicality as he was finding space away from defenders. Irrelevant though really as he did show he had strength. I don't like to bash people on here for their points of view but really, what were you expecting from 30 minutes of a home debut? Personally, I was impressed. He caused them problems and they didn't know what to do with him.
  20. I can't believe people would, even for a split second, think Lambert to Villa had any sort of truth to it. Go outside, or failing that just open a window.
  21. I clicked this thread hoping to see some news about Hooper. What do I get? A bunch of idiots arguing. On other forums trolls like Dalek are sniffed out after a few posts/days and are placed on block lists. Eventually they get bored because nobody is taking their bait and stop posting. Either that or people play along and find it funny. It's just a novelty with no harm done. This is the only forum I've seen where people keep getting offended by the same people over and over and don't do anything about it.
  22. Feed the lamb? I understand why.....but no. No.
  23. Not entirely relevant to the OT but just something I find interesting and also reassuring. When you compare the 3 newly promoted clubs, Norwich, QPR and Swanea there is a noticeable difference in their transfer activity. Forgive me for not having a list of all their Summer activity here but Swansea brought in Danny Graham from Watford and Vorm from Utrecht (I think) plus some others I can't remember. Both relatively unknown and not the kind of names to excite fans of Premier League clubs. Norwich brought in Steve Morison from Millwall and he's doing a job for them. Apart from that (please correct me if I'm mistaken) their team doesn't look completely different to how it looked in the NPC. QPR though brought in all big name players. Barton, Wright-Phillips, Ferdinand, Puncheon (joke) and yet they are struggling a lot more than the other two who are very much holding their own. My point is, judging by this you don't need to suddenly be making bids for well known players on huge wages to have a respectable stab at the PL. Someone will probably now come and contradict me, but whatever. Just my POV.
  24. would have*
  25. I am an optimistic Saints fan, and always will be. But that was the worst performance I've seen since the Liebherr take over, at least at home. I don't want to take anything away from Leicester because they completely deserved to win tonight. We didn't even deserve a point. There was no leadership at all. We desperately missed Lallana's creativity and Chaplow's energy. Leicester had us sussed and didn't let us play. I believe we had only 38% possession at one point. Awful. I've seen us lose loads of times, but I've never come away feeling shocked. It was truly truly poor. Not a single positive to take from tonight. Let's hope we can stay second after next Tuesday.
