KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - Muslims must not wear the famous Manchester United red jersey because of the "devil" emblem on its team crest, Malaysian clerics said Wednesday. Manchester United and the rest of the English Premier League are massively popular in Muslim-majority Malaysia and the rest of the Asian region, but conservative religious scholars said the jersey is un-Islamic. Also off limits are the shirts of teams including Brazil, Portugal, Barcelona, Serbia and Norway, all of which carry images of the cross on their team emblems. Wonder if Saints will be OK then ? My simple thoughts are bound to be laughed at but never mind here they are. Increase the Navy and RAF for UK self defence and reduce the Army so that they are not big enough to be sent to fight foreign wars thereby saving lots of money. IF the UK is ever invaded again after getting past the RN and RAF there won't be very much left for an Army to defend anyway. Never ever rely on fellow Europeans to help defend the UK, they have shown over many many years they are pretty useless at fighting, the Germans of course can fight as they have proved.

David Warren, an Australian scientist who invented the "black box" flight data recorder, has died, defence officials said on Wednesday. He was 85. Warren, who died on Monday, came up with the idea for the ****pit voice recorder after investigating the crash of the world's first commercial jet airliner, the Comet, in 1953, the Department of Defence said in a statement. He thought it would be helpful for airline accident investigators to have a recording of voices in the ****pit. He designed and constructed a black box prototype in 1956, but it took several years before officials understood just how valuable the device could be and began installing them in commercial airlines worldwide. Warren was born in 1925 in a remote part of northeast Australia. In 1934, his father was killed in a plane crash in Australia. He became the principal research scientist at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation's Aeronautical Research Laboratories in Melbourne from 1952 to 1983. "Dr Warren's flight data recorder has made an invaluable contribution to safety in world aviation," the defence department said in a statement. Slightly off topic in a way but over here in NZ interviews don't appear to be so important anymore.A company with 19 or less employees can take someone on with a 90 day trial period, if they don't come up to requirements they can be let go without worry.
