Someone from the club has said something like "now hold off twitter or facebook until we announce it officially", Gaston has thought "bugger, best I delete that then" and hey presto its gone from his twitter page. Or not

Which is always what happens with this transfer window business. Just look at Andy Carroll to Liverpool. There is no way they would have paid that much had there been no transfer deadline. Its pretty standard practice nowadays which is why there is a lot to be said for concluding deals at the start of the window whenever possible.
