Does this mean Stewart Dennis gets paid then ? I believe in the season of destruction when Lowe came back and we went into administration Mr Dennis was "performing" like he does now.......and he gets paid for reading out the team sheet with his voice cracking and breaking when he tries to put some feeling and emotion into it ? Geez. Stewart Dennis or Mike Osman ? Get your coat Stewie :-)

They need the money, Barry Fry and Fergie have both said he will be gone.

If I was a Huddersfield fan I would be bloody fuming. How the hell can you play one striker (and a crap one at that) up on his own against a team that everybody knows cannot defend ? You have to play 2 strikers against them, Clark has been very naieve here i think. Championship teams will tear this lot to shreds and without MS up front they could well be the whipping boys of the league. I feel sorry for the Huddersfield fans but oh boy Lee, you screwed that up good and proper.

I couldn't agree more Turkish, lets just not run before we can walk. -
Barcelona tonight - an insight into our future?
beatlesaint replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
Absolutely.......just because we have dispatched the Bristol Rovers, Bournemouth's and Orient's does not mean we are on course to dispatch Real Madrid, Man Utd and Barcelona in the next decade. I'm sure every club aspires to be Barcelona.....some have quite a head start on us. -
We dont want any silly talk like that about Arsenal and young English players around here thankyou very much ! Stick to your foriegn playes Arsene :-)
-
I cannot say where I got it from but I can assure you that the talk was of consolidation next season, see where we end up then push on in the following two seasons in an effort to see the 5 year plan through to its target - Premiership football. Of course if we do very very well, ie, top 6 then that will be a bonus. You dont have to believe me, lets just wait and see, but I would be very surprised if, given the information I was, we spend big this close season. A couple of quality players for decent but not ridiculous fees and a couple on the cheap would be my guess. Of course if Chamberlain goes that may change.

Southampton vs Stockport County Coca-Cola Cup replay
beatlesaint replied to Rory's topic in The Saints
Luton are The Hatters :-) -
Nothing at all. Markus said, in the only televised clip I have ever seen of him speaking, that progress would be sure but steady and I believe that still applies. The 5 year plan allows three years to regain Premiership status and I believe NC and NA will use next season as one of consolidation. Obviously if we are in with a chance of the play offs towards the end of the season then of course they will go for it but people's expectations shouldn't be too high. If we do a Norwich then fantastic but they are very much the exception rather than the rule.

Had his hands in his pocket and a face like a smacked arse but he certainly wasnt wearing headphones and listening to music.

They have admitted that their budgeting has been worked out on staying in the premiership. They will lose their high wage earners and need to rebuild, same with West Ham. What we didnt want was Blackburn and Wolves coming down so a good result for us IMHO. BTW - Welcome back to St Marys Mr Holloway......same league, who would have thought it eh ? :-D
-
Mr Holloway.....welcome to St Marys !! Who would have thought we would be in the same league when you got so upset with us back in January ? Not you cocker thats for sure :-D

2009 was worse, simply because unlike 2005 the writing was on the wall almost before a ball was kicked. The return of the reddy cheeked one, his dismissal of a manager who could have done well for us, as he went on to prove with 2 other clubs since, and the appointment of a couple of Dutch clogs nobody had ever heard of. The hostile atmosphere at St Marys when fans turned on fans was horrible, the kids out on the pitch who had no chance against most of the teams we played, the hatred directed towards those running, or ruining, the club etc etc. It was a 9 month long, slow painful death - at least in 2005 there was hope, albeit false hope, and even a chance to stay up, but not in 2009.

He THOUGHT he was. Swanned around like a big "I am" if I remember rightly. The fact he has spent the last two years mainly warming Notts Forest bench shows he isnt as good as he thought he was.

Incredible achievement in just 9 years.

How often do Rangers or Celtic compete reasonably or at all well in the Champions League group stages ? Didnt UEFA drop a place for Scottish teams from two to one cos they were so abysmal every year ? The answer to that is yes by the way, they did ! :-)

Just take a look at his posting history.....I suspect "margaret" is Michael Owen's auntie :-)
-
I would think so, sounds like an administrative nightmare to run, not to mention thousands upon thousands of extra calls for each individual match. Commercial suicide.
-
Isnt it strange how you can be made to feel so much better about yourself when and where you are least expecting it :-)
-
Unlike his father Jamie hasn't air brushed Southampton out of his history. Its surprising how many times in either his newspaper articles or on Sky he actually mentions us. After reading that I forgive him for that bloody awful Thomas Cook advert......almost !!
-
I felt like that when we signed Mark Hughes......and he did **** all to win me over in the time we had him which seemed like an eternity.
-
Thats just not true. Under the Dutch pillock we had he was our best player until he got a bad injury at QPR early on. Could definitely do a job in the Championship and if he still has a year of his contract left its not really an issue getting rid of him cos nobody will want him with the injury record.
-
After watching the MK Dons v Peterbro game I have seen a player who with the service we could supply would be fantastic. Sam Baldock.

It's a new contract for Adkins!!
beatlesaint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Pleased about that, Adkins seems a really decent man and it appears that the players like and respect him. My only reservation is wether he would be good enough if and when we get back to the Premiership. Only time will tell, I for one hope he is cos i have no problem with him driving this bus for many years to come. -
I'm pretty sure it will be this new European Scout/Director thing, epsecially given the "interview" in a Danish paper.
