Absolutely right. In the middle third of the pitch we look great, lovely passing and plenty of movement and options. Its when we get to the attacking third or defending third it all goes tits up !
-
SSShhhhhhhhhh ! In the Lowe re-write of history book you arent supposed to mention things like that !
-
I was told a couple of weeks ago by some experts on this forum that 4-4-2 wasnt the answer when I suggested it after the Plymouth training session, sorry, game !
-
It certainly does, 100% agree............its just like watching a keep ball training session where the ball has to stay in the middle third of the pitch !
-
Coming away from St Marys on Saturday there was a group of lads talking about our striker situation and one said "if we had a premiership quality striker we would be fine". To be honest we would be fine with a Championship quality striker, that would do.......unfortunately the ones we have are out on loan and McGoldrick is not yet good enough for this division despite our Director Of Football believing he is.
-
Apart from the 4-3-3 bit I tend to agree. Its just the one up front at all times remember !!
-
Well the queue to see Santa in Marlands was very long on Saturday so maybe it was !
-
we can afford for a squad of 22 plus coaches and backroom staff to travel up to South London from Southampton Saturday night and stay in a hotel for 2 nights in preparation for tonights game !!! Now Selhurst Park is what ? 90 mins from Southampton so what the hell are we wasting money like this for ? Had they been playing away at Doncaster for instance then fair enough......but South London ffs ? Someone has to be taking the p*ss at that club......
-
If he is our main first choice striker or man in the hole, whatever, then we are in big big trouble. He will not score enough goals to keep this club in the Championship I'm afraid.
-
He has been on the pitch at least twice now, away to Swansea and Palace......and we lost both comfortably. So Rupert........stay away......your tactics and motivational input are useless !! A Chairman on the pitch during the warm up.........disgraceful.......wonder why he doesnt do it at St Marys ?

Rupert getting the hang of football...

Yes I'm fairly sure he said it in jest, Rupert's humour doesnt travel well to the written word though does it ? -
Rupert getting the hang of football...
beatlesaint replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
You just gotta love him havent you !!!! Probably be underdogs ? No ? Really ? -
The most telling line in that interview and IMHO the crux of the matter is - "as our players play they will get stronger AND THEIR VALUE WILL GROW...." That, in a nutshell, sums up Lowe.
-
I was thinking that Um......perhaps some people should make up their minds, stability or no stability ? How the hell can you vote to keep one half of the dynamic duo but not the other if you are voting for stability ? Very strange logic draganov !

Oh, my picture's been replaced...... by a train
beatlesaint replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
so in the boardroom we have the choice of a picture of Saints finest moment - the successful manager holding the FA Cup - or we have a picture of a steam train form Doncaster ? you couldnt make it up could you.............. -
I still believe if JP had a Plan B and played 2 up front at home we would have won more games, last night being a prime example. This system is great away, but at home, 1 man upfront ? You have to be a bloody good centre forward to play that system, even Torres would struggle with that, and we haven't got such great forwards, if they were they wouldnt be on loan to us. Even if he just tried it for 30 mins in a home game, just to see, but he never ever does.
-
Agree 100%......we have to airbrush Lowe and Wilde's mistakes and just move on, apparently. As you so rightly say it isnt that easy when you have lived, and suffered, through it !
-
Why oh why can nobody at that bloody club see that its all very well playing youngsters BUT you need an experienced, older defence !! Play the kids in midfield and upfront by all means but have a solid, experienced back four who are a bit wiser to what attacking teams are about than our current defence. To call them naieve is an understatement, as Dave Bassett commented teams will rub their hands playing us cos the defence is so young and vulnerable. I cant remember seeing a defender of Lancashire's age who is so bloody slow. Why do you think he gets booked or sent off so much ? Its cos his tackling is about a second or two late every time and thats because he is slow in mind and body. Play Perry and get a partner for him who has been around and knows the game, plus a couple of experienced full backs (or one at a push cos Skacel is adequate, altho wasted, there)

The Various Merlions on the Companies House website
beatlesaint replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Wilde's a Scouser isn't he ? The Rathbone family in Liverpool were a very powerful family of ship merchants and owners - there is a Rathbone Street in Liverpool and the actor Basil Rathbone, most famous for the wartime Sherlock Holmes films is a descendant of the family. Perhaps Mr Wilde is too........... not Saints related I know but hell i know something so I'm gonna share !!! -
What did Duncan (Fitzhugh Fella) say on Radio Hampshire?
beatlesaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Oooh, that'll be the "official club historian" title taken away from him now then. Truth hurts and old rosey cheeks wont like hearing that again !! Devisive figure ? Well put Duncan, well put indeed. -
Where was Spiderman last night by the way ? Injured or "rested" or tummy bug ?
-
In all honesty they wouldnt even have had to return all of it........about a third of that amount to Lowe and Cowen would have kept/paid Stern John's wages til January. The double standards, including as you so rightly point out the Claus pitch farce, know no bounds.
-
Wonder if that will get "postponed", done behind closed doors or will the ego of Harry just let it carry on regardless ?
-
Re-writing his history again then......... not so long ago he was carping on about being an Arsenal fan as a boy and watching them with his old man......now its training with Spurs and always being around the club at 11 or 12.......add to his spiritual home at West Ham...before Pompey became his spiritual home that is.....and surely Bournemouth fits in somewhere. you couldnt make it up could you ? well, not as good as Redcrapp can anyway !! : - )
-
If he does take Spurs down (please please God) then he wont be able to air brush that failure out of his CV like he has with Southampton !! I prey he gets to pay his dues....
