  1. It would be fun to request a slot at the next Portsmouth city council meeting and ask how secure the loan was after PFC trust were now refusing debit cards after their main bank account is unusable. Who's account are the cheques being paid into?...... What happens to the cash?
  2. I am 96th percentile at problem solving 6th percentile at spelling. I can program in hexadecimal I can design and mend most things I have dreadful facial recognition skills However my work is written off by most academics who read my work with the red pen in hand! People who can't read through a sentence where the wrong two,to or too is used. Some of them are more disabled than me!
  3. The rule of thumb is that the one that blew down belongs to you!
  4. Stuff the grammar police. Can any of these jumped up gobby little squirts do anything else with their brain? They are usually unable to put a shelf up or assemble even the simplest IKEA kit... Dyslexics rule! I have met too many of these prats in my life.
  5. I read in the DM today that Nigle Fararge is to fight a by-election near Portsmouth soon. Does any one know where that is?
  6. They may not have stolen a single labour seat, but lab, lib and cons should all be worried. Lab should have gained from the mess in Westminster. A split of the Tory/ ukip vote should have opened the door to lab. The libs should be horrified at losing seats in Eastleigh. The cons can't get away from the Europe issue.
  7. I did vote for Sandra Gidley. Our ex-MP. Sadly she did not get in. I know that she worked hard on NHS issues as an MP. Because I followed the parlementry questions she issued. I noticed that when we voted we were the only voters at the polling station. What was the turnout? If UKIP got 21% of a poor turnout? Do local Elections get a older turnout? My perception is that the grey voters are more vocal about immigrants?
  8. Leaf blowers. Awful noise, blow the leaves into next doors drive. Then he gets out his awful toy and blows the stupid leaves back.
  9. In the early days of this thread I wanted sudden final closure of Pompey and soon after this thread. Others wanted a long drawn out destruction of Pompey. As idiots in the judicial system failed to do their job. Failed to close the insolvent business I need to see Pompey crumble to their lowest possible point. The job is not done yet. I am confident they have picked the right team and have the "backing" of the Few to conclude this. This thread must continue to record history.
  10. The fridge The Internet Early retirement ;-)
  11. My wife 44 has MS and Pulmonary Hypertension ( over growth of the smooth tissue in the lungs on the blood side creating very high blood pressure in the lung side of the heart.) untreated the life expectancy from diagnosis is 2.4 years. The cure for this is a heart lung transplant. BUT.... At present any one with another condition like diabetes or MS will not receive a heart lung transplant even though it is possible. Heart lung transplants only go to young otherwise fit people (I also suspect they are rationed to people with very young children) I was blankly told she will not get a transplant although successful ops have been done in the USA Heart lung transplants are considered a success if the patient survives 5-15 years. Diabetes or MS is unlikely to get the patient in this time frame. The truth is my wife and others could be cured and live 30 years+ with a transplant if organ donation was assumed. We are not talking about short term gains.
  12. If Carlsberg did true justice someone would post me a big box shaped explosives and detonators ........ And at 3 am Christmas morning they would be woken up to the biggest community owned flat pack football club in the land.
  13. Well good morning judge, how are you today? You are supposed to be reading the legal papers Have you gone astray? They don't own it, so I let it be They are potless skates, so I let it be I will get my money, belongs to me Baloo has a charge, plain to see They can't do it, not a hope They shouldn't get, PST are just a joke
  14. You have to be thin to fit in an airline 17" seat. Thier customer base who pay the fares, are generaly older and have more money than the skinny ones who moan. No car manufacturer would sell a car for the general market with 17" seats. Its easy to start threads like this when you are under 25. I wonder what weight the OP will be at 45???
  15. Smart TVs are the the future, it is well worth getting an internet connection to your TV. It better to send the internet via the mains using a home-plug than use a usb wifi stick.
  16. Personally I think the stock market is in for a leap downwards. I don't think there is any thing to justify it being over 6000. This is a 10 year income plan using 20% of our assets. Mortgage paid off. The companies are bbb rated and higher. I am happy with the risk level. I feel the capital is at less risk than the stock market or a buy to let but higher than banks building societies. I plan to hold these bonds to maturity. I am not worried if the bonds dip on the second hand market. The income is my main importance. If I receive less income I will have to spend some/ more of the capital. £500 dealing costs is less than the 2% fees a fund will charge to invest and the Annual 1% fee on the whole fund. These fees will cost more over the10 years than if 1 company folded.
  17. Just to report my progress. I have set up my isa wrapper and transferred some cash in. Buying the bonds is not quite as simple as I first thought. There are a three things to consider 1 You can only buy bonds with 5 years + left to run 2 bonds are sold in minimum blocks mostly 1000, but the ones I chose were10,000. Multiplied by the second had price of £1.25 cost more than I could move into the isa in1 tax year 3. You pay for the bond, you pay the seller x days interest ( 90 days in my case) and £50 dealing cost. You need to select a short list of bonds. You need to know the block size. If you leave say £2000 cash on your isa account for the next tax year you could buy that 10,000 block next tax year. My initial ambitions of 8% may have been too ambitious. However I expect to build a portfolio of 10 companies earning around average 6% on the total investment assuming I hold the bonds to thier end.

    New York

Yes but its about a 20-40 min taxi/coach

    New York

Take the QM2 from southampton to NY at £600 each inc flights, Enjoy 5 days top nosh, etc, You get ashore about 9am, you cant fly home till 5pm because of heathrows night flight rules.... so Cunard lay on a coach which gives you an all day tour and drops those who want to shop at strategic points. Your luggage stays on the coach. Or book two extra night in NY via cunard. however you have to organise your own taxis
  21. When you compare it with this case http://www.cotwa.info/2013/02/woman-jailed-after-11-false-rape-claims.html First offence Vs 11th offence....
  22. the Judges comments are showing som empathy with price and annoyance with Huhne's attempt to get the case thrown out
  23. They are both unemployed..... at 50p a week?
  24. Perjury & perverting the course of justice are very serious, however the background crime was not hugly serious compared with other cases. IE; speeding case, false rape accusation, false murder alibi. The risk of the Huhne's re-offending and being a material risk to the public does not justify a custidodial sentence. They have both lost heavily already. Thier sentence could be a community based sentence This is about the crowns retribution.
