Apparently bringing him on in the last 10 mins of the spurs game because Davis looked shattered and him being a part of that last chance is cause to consider him the single worst player of all time. Ignoring the fact he put a good shift in away at West Ham and was a part of the last 10 mins against spurs when it was all us. Also apparently he has killed more babies than Puncheon so therefore is still the worse player, ignoring performances across the entire season....

Would anyone seriously like a midweek game against Chelsea in December??? During the week before we play Sunderland at home, a game where we actually stand a chance to getting all 3 points?!?! Some people have delusional priorities sometimes.
-
What a brilliant outcome! Some winnable games over the Christmas period and wouldn't want to be distracted by a difficult cup fixture against Chelsea... (Helped with the away game moved just before Christmas too)

Too sensible for here, far too much thought and common sense involved. Should be all about how Harry will come save us because he has done it before........

Daily Fail story... alan shearer in contention.!
pingwing replied to bowers-sfc's topic in The Saints
Only interesting bit 'But we gave the players who have not been in the team to the chance to show what they could do, and they did not take it.' Should have run the headline 'Saints don't have 2 teams worth of premier league players kicking about the club and Shearer doesn't like Lauro/Hansen any more and wants a real job' -
Looking at our performance in isolation...
pingwing replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
In isolation every sensible premier league team would/did put out a 2nd rate team against a lower league opposition in this round of the competition. Adkins is doing a good job because he didn't risk anyone this round so we didn't get landed with loosing someone important like Cork in the last round. Pretty sure that is learning from mistakes and helping us in the longer term on the basis of the team selection. Showing up some of the ego's in the reserves and backup spots might well be a bit negative at the club but that says a lot about the character and maturity of the players instead of our manager. This was the chance for a few of them to prove they are more than emergency back up players or that they should be off the transfer list or are maturing into first team challengers. Not everyone has responded to that challenge well, which cannot be a criticism of Adkins as any good manager would do the same. McDermott is the prize clown of last night by sticking his first team out to build a 4 goal lead and then chuck it away in such spectacular fashion. Would rather we use this nothing competition to get our reserve players to buck up their ideas than demolish out first team's confidence further, like every other average premier league manager does for the league cup. -
No, we have been driven to this by having to listen to DM in the first place.

This needs to be put as a warning every time the old bag speaks. The man needs to be pushed off a bridge as 4-4-2 will get us relegated no matter what happens, it is what is happening to Norwich, Villa, QPR and Reading (the teams that try to stick out 4-4-2 and fail from it).

Mayuka has to start , on the right wing. Looking forward to this, £15 well spent! (probably)

B. along with everyone getting comfortable that we should go up and be midtable after 9 games. We have had a lot of winning in the last few years why should we expect a mad amount now.
-
Who cares, this team beat a stronger Everton side. Everyone grow up and concentrate on the league.

Why has everyone gone into utter meltdown over a pointless cup?? I miss the days when this was the Worthington Cup just so everyone remembered how worthless it is. Liverpool proved it when they spent 75m to win a grand pot of 500k, its a waste of time and Adkins knows it by starting SEABORNE. Now everyone calm down and remember the important game is Monday.

Realistically how many points do Saints need by New Years Day
pingwing replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Minimum 14 ideally at least 20. Essential to beat QPR, Reading and Norwich and a single draw against anyone else. -
He's saved 2 in god knows how many years, both of which were the worst possible penalties in premier league history. He's in no way a specialist...
-
What a let down, I enjoyed his few games so far. At very least the club is refusing to have another Bart on their hands, making sure Gazza gets the game time he needs is essential otherwise we will get landed with another keeper who wont be able to handle the games he is called up for.

Got 2 against West Ham, Rodriguez took the first that was troubling the cars driving past the ground, Rickie took the second after shouting down Guly and grazed the wrong side of the bar. The others generally have been loft it into the back post area.

Am always amused to see middle aged men giving the V or flipping the bird at away fans when its time to leave at 80 mins, might have to start making videos of them... Who films the kids races!??! Brilliant idea! Gutted I missed it this week as they are great when you're too drunk to stand and need someone to cheer at (the girl who couldn't score for Fulham was funny) Miss the kids 2 min games of previous seasons, they were always entertaining.

Yorkshire have a football team that have been to the world cup?!?!

Went to Stevenage, going forward Shaw was alright (though lacked confidence) defensively he was a bit raw/uncomposed. Him and Seaborne were massively at fault for Stevenage's goal, between them they conspired to muck it up for us. Anyway he's not ready yet, playing him now would absolutely destroy him as he needs more time to develop his awareness and positioning (as well as tackling and clearing).
-
Pretty much has to be that (shame as I like Lambert upfront but he seems to be lacking a little confidence to just hit things on the first touch at the moment). No other options at LB yet also mean Fox has to play (sadly), chucking Shaw in or giving Reeves 90 mins against someone decent would be harsh.

Excellent player, if he keeps the sensible attitude he really should be Englands next rb. Just need a saints web wip around for a new pair of studs for him, each cough up 50p only 80 of us can get him some reasonable studs. Generally his pros out weigh his cons, so where he isn't the best in the air he is bar far the best of the back line at last min tackles. When the ball is on the floor more often than not he can close it down and win it back, which is amazing for a such a young player. In the air he is just let down by his hight and generally we have been playing a system that gets Morg or one of the other midfielders to try and assist to protect that weakness (by either being back there with him or closing down any balls that are heading that way in the first place). Just sometimes the team has left him exposed in quite difficult conditions. Once everyone gets to a point where a 90 min game playing properly is manageable then he'll look a lot better and his weaknesses will be less exposed.

Would almost be tempted to drop Puncheon for De Ridder. Both useless but De Ridder is faster...

And managed a performance where he ran and gave the ball away at every opportunity.... No premier league play can get away with a performance like that "because he ran his socks off"
