  1. How random.
  2. Indeed, so they have http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/jan/29/premier-league-footballer-gagging-order Not such a random thread after all then!
  3. It's almost as if the randomness is trying to tell us something...
  4. What a random day this is turning out to be. A thread mentioning John Terry, a gagging order, and Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend. 3 completely random things, brought together on one thread, thanks to the beauty of randomness..
  5. Oops, sorry. I shoulda known he wouldn't have a clue...
  6. I dunno, can I? Am I allowed to, under the terms of the gagging order? Or does that only apply to the media?!
  7. The copyright of any photo taken is automatically held by the photographer and under 'normal' circumstances, you would need their permission, or a licence from them (possibly for payment) to then use their image. Football grounds are private property therefore anyone entering them does so according to conditions of entry, just like fans do when purchasing a ticket. But for the media, their conditions of entry are governed by Access agreements. They are only granted to bona-fide media organisations who pay a hefty sum to do so, and their conditions then also mean that any photos or video taken whilst inside is then only released to others who possess the aforementioned End User Agreement, which also costs lots of money. In short - it's all about money. Correct, just like the big fixtures argument that kicked up a few years ago when Dataco began tightening up on websites with fixtures displayed and threatening legal action. Any site or publication with an image could face the same. An occasional picture on a fansite is unlikely to be noticed, but the more pictures and teh more prominant the website, the quicker they'll call knocking. As Ponty says, anything that contains an element of any other original artwork or photo that wasn't your own, would leave you liable to copyright infringements. If your work is so completely different you *might* get away with it, but it's unlikely because your work would still be based upon someone elses, and therefore they would have grounds to claim under copyright law. No worries.
  8. I'm fine, just enjoying the total randomness of Al posting that link on a thread about John Terry. Say no more.
  9. 'Slightly disabled face'...?! Lovely. I would just like to see Murray win, for no reason other than he's British.
  10. Interesting. Especially after Al posted it on this completely random thread.
  11. It could be. After all, Al has posted it on a completely random thread.
  12. You need to have a End User Agreement from Football Dataco to reproduce pictures of first team action on your own website. Image rights to all games are held by the League who issue licences through Football Dataco to publications and websites to publish images. Even freelance photographers who shoot football can't publish photos in their own portfolios on their own websites, if they do not have a licence to do so. http://www.football-dataco.com
  13. Totally random thread indeed Al. Totally. Random.
  14. Having the ability to spend big makes a difference... it all depends how you use it, and how you integrate the new players and coach the team to get the best out of them. The single biggest thing having money does, as has been mentioned already, is to raise expectations. But just because the players being brought in cost more, or are (in theory) better players than we might otherwise have bought, doesn't automatically mean they'll take less time to settle into the team/the area. Some players with families take time to feel at home, especially if they're living out of a hotel room initially, or have language barriers to overcome. Then there's the style and tactics of the manager, and the idiosyncracies of the other players in the squad they have to get used to. Every combination of manager/team/club is unique, and there is no fixed amount of time that you can say 'we must be winning games after x weeks' because you're dealing with human beings, not machines. Every fan will have in their own mind, an idea of how long it should take to see consistent results. IMO most fans are too demanding, and don't consider all the factors, but it's been that way since year dot. It is reflected more in society in general nowadays too, where convenience and short-termism dominates and most people are impatient. So, in short, the answer for me is: Yes, it *can* make a difference, but it's no guarantee and should not be used to put pressure on a manager if results don't always match fans' (often unrealistic) expectations.
  15. Agreed... was about to say 'it looks 10 years old' before I even read your reply. It's simple enough to navigate, but it just looks dated, and, whether you like it or not, no matter how good the t-shirts are, people will be put off by it because it doesn't look professional IMO.

  17. Stu, If, by not wanting any violence to be associated with my club, this fixture, or football in general, that makes me a 'right little jessy', then I think you'll find there are thousands of other 'right little jessy's' in the world too. If you can explain to me exactly what the point is in all this discussion the 'youth' or 'Joiners 03', and it's relevence to a football match in the FA Cup, (without resorting to cheap insults that only serve to make you like a schoolboy) then I'll happily listen and debate it. But as far as I'm concerned, it is simple: ANYONE who thinks that wilful violence can in any way be condoned, whether connected to football or not, and who therefore risks seriously injuring or even killing another human being, is in need of serious help. To have such a lack of respect for life and proactively seek out to harm another is utterly sick, and discussing it here in the way some do ('hundreds of Saints out baying for blood ... Up the Saints'! - WTF?!?) is beyond my comprehension and indicatve only of the sad state of affairs that this world finds itself in. In short, IMO, it's disgusting, has no place in life let alone sport, and I am ashamed that there are so-called 'Saints fans' who take part.
  18. On paper, they are too strong for us. But the game is not played on paper. I *expect* us to get beaten, but I'll be there in hope rather than expectation, and anything we get will be celebrated accordingly!
  19. It's bad enough having the regular kind of ITK'er on here re: transfers, but this new kind is one we definately don't need. Frankly I find all talk about what our yoof do or don't do, and how strong our 'crew' is to be entirely pathetic and couldn't be less appropriate to the intentions of this thread.
  20. Um, yeah... Some people aren't quite getting the 'domestic' bit, are they?
  21. Indeed. I wasn't keen before the draw but now I'm quite up for it. If we lose, yes there will be Skates giving it large, but how stupid would they look to other Prem teams... how often do Prem teams beating a L1 team give it the big one afterwards?! It would just make them look sad to be honest. If we lost by more than a couple, that wouldn't be great, but any kind of result is a good one for us.
  22. Get your last payslip from your last job, and go here: http://listentotaxman.com/ In the 'Gross pay' box, put in the total amount that you earnt before beign made redundant. Then the calculation should show you how much tax you should've paid up until that point. I'm not sure how it works after that, with Jobseekers allowance and the tax implications there. If your payroll department were halfway decent then it should all be fine and I doubt you'll be due any refund, but if you have had benefits like a company car or something then there may be a discrepancy. If need be, jut phone HMRC... I've always found their helplines pretty good to be honest.

    Climate change

Worth a read, yes, although the position of the author is clear. I'm no scientist and so can't really offer any review of what he says... which is where my biggest problem with all of the scientific information (both for and against MMCC) coming out into the public domain lies... Most 'normal' people reading that article will probably not take in anymore than 10% of it, and won't be able to argue for or against it. All it actually serves to do is drum up support for thsoe who believe MMCC is a myth/fraud or whatever phrase is chosen, and once again just looks for people to sue/blame/hang, instead of really advancing the research and helping find out more. The politics is infuriating... people (on both sides of the argument) talk as thought their point of view is proven and cannot be disputed, and that the case should be closed... The day we think that, is the day we die. Only by accepting our ignorance will we continue to learn about the world we live in. Science and theory are also all very well, but try telling some of the now extinct species that used to live on various mountain ranges that actually, average temperatures are not going up at all, and the reason you're now extinct must be something else. These species had to move higher and higher up the mountain to continue to live in a zone where the temperature was constant for them, but once they reached the top there was nowhere to go. 'The Weather Makers' is a great book which is full of real-life examples, survey results and first hand accounts of real-world effects of the changes in weather, and the effect on thousands of species as a result. Now, please realise that I'm not saying this is definately down to human influence or otherwise, but the temperature rises are, IMO, clear, and it is these real-world examples which will always win for me over scientific analysis any day of the week.
  24. My reaction to this tie is simple: We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. On paper, they would be expected to beat us by the majority of neutrals, and most sane Saints fans. Lets go out and enjoy it, give them the game of their life and see what happens.
  25. The only lads 'we' have...? Who are 'we'? I realise me posting this is like ******ing in the wind, but I sincerely hope that 'we' behave, or even, god forbid, grow up and grow out of any violent tendancies once and for all.
