FAO: Those who want to stand & sing at Wembley
Minty replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
lol, indeed. Maybe this is what those fans who were fighting in the stand were fighting about last night?! -
Carlisle have taken good numbers to Wembley/Cardiff for previous games, so I wouldn't be surprised if they took nearly as many as we do.
-
I thought specific kits had to be registered for use in specific competitions, and that was it? Or was that something I've plucked from my dim and distant past that is no longer relevant?
-
I actually think Pardew's approach is correct. Good cup runs can breed a real sense of excitement and camaraderie, which can often carry over to help the league campaign. AP was starting from scratch with a lot of new players, new staff, and virtually zero team spirit. By progressing in the cups, it has helped bring everyone together and create a sense of belonging. That can take time in the league alone. It doesn't always work of course, but I think it all sets us in better stead for the future. Of course, as always with these things, what is said in public and what is said in private are usually almost like chalk and cheese and I am sure that NC and AP are both pulling in the same direction, but I personally feel AP's doing just fine and should be left alone to do his job without all this.

FAO: Those who want to stand & sing at Wembley

Ugh, lets not go down this route eh chaps? Some like to stand and sing and show their support in this way. Others prefer to sit and watch the game (and yes, often still sing and show their support, just perhaps not in quite such a vocal way). Both have their place IMO, both are entitled to go and enjoy the game, and neither has the right to tell the other how to watch a game IMO. So, from both points of view, the OP's idea has merit, to ensure that everyone gets to enjoy the game in the way that they would prefer. -
I would be seriously, seriously concerned if that were the case. Frankly, it shows a crass misundertanding of football and how it take time to build a team, morale, develop tactics and a style of play. The fact we're discussing it after only 28 league and however many cup games is bad enough for me, but after EIGHT?! I don't even want to contemplate that.

Ok Alan....Now pick the same starting line-up for all remaining games

This thread just sums up why Managers will never please everybody, and there will always be a section who think he's making the wrong choices or decisions, both pre-match and during. There are a lot of good points, for and against certain players, and it just shows that everyone looks for different skills and attributes in each player, and different contributions to the team as a whole. It should serve as a reminder that no matter what we feel, there is no right or wrong answer. Obviously results are the be-all and end-all, but getting the right team, and making the right changes, in order to get those results, are not as easy or as obvious as some seem to make out. -
Sweet.

lol... you get called a troll because you repeatedly post things to get a bite. A bit like this question, which you posted earlier on this thread but no one replied to, hence you're posting it again... which is known as trolling. I'm not having a pop because I know what it's like when people just have a go at you for having an opinion, and agree with you that in that regard, many people are pathetic. But if they can't constructively disagree with you, then they're not worth bothering with.
-
Further to my little outburst above, I think it's only fair to say that this could all have been blown out of proportion. On a very basic level, I do fully agree with the above, in that the latest league results have not been satisfactory. But we know that AP thinks the same (obviously) and that things never go exactly as you want them to (if they did, we'd win 46 games)... He just doesn't need an intensive dissection of things and pressure to achieve something in unrealistic timescales IMO.
-
Fully agree. Some of the comments on this board and from some fans have been ridiculously, and unrealistically, demanding IMO. It doesn't matter who the chairman or owner is, football is not a simple business, and results do not come quickly easily, especially when too much pressure is brought to bear on the manager. Spending more money on better players does not automatically mean they will get used to each other on the pitch, learn the tactics and set-plays quicker, and suddenly play together like they have done so already for 3 years. We are supposed to have a team, not a collection of individuals. The way some fans talk it's as though just putting them on the pitch should be enough. Well, sorry, but most things worth having in life need working at, and this is no exception, and improvement in any field is rarely if ever linear. There will be setbacks while players learn about each other and the manager learns about them and how they work together. AP needs full support, without fear of recrimination for at least this season and up until at least Xmas next year IMO. Impatience will kill us if we're not careful.

RM / LM / RB Also (as The9/Rabbit others will verify) comfortable with corners/free kicks and generally being rather vocal on the pitch.

Having played Pompey supporters' teams on several occasions, and organised a few of them myself including some of the first Saintslist games, it's only right i put myself forward to play...

Happy Birthday Shrek...! Old b@stard.

No. Although they are both lanky alcoholics with a penchant for singing Fairytale of New York on karaoke...

I'm Dan Kerins.

Mucho lolling at this thread. Kerins *is* a lazy journo though.

The Semi-annual 'Would you want David Prutton back?' thread

He has signed for them. That's that for another 6 months then. -
Fair enough, although the strength of feeling amongst many who comment (just look at this thread) seems to to indicate that they have made their minds up. 'tis they who I feel are being overly judgemental... How anyone feels they can 'hate' someone based on such superficial evidence I just don't get... It's as though they *want* to hate him.
-
Well, personally, I judge what little I see, fully in the knowledge that unless I actually know the person, I can't make a fair judgement based on that alone, or that any conclusion I come to is based on minimal information. A bit like people who judge players based on seeing them once a season really.
-
I just don't get why people feel the need to hate someone they don't really know except through the media, who has been pretty successful and has good potential for the future, because of usually flimsy evidence like the way he talks, or his perceived charisma. People allege that Murray is miserable... look at some of the people who comment about him, how miserable are they? All a bit sad really IMO, that people get fired up to hate someone in that way.
-
Irks me that you think he's crap after barely two games. Give the guy a chance eh? From what I have seen he has worked really hard and got into some really good positions, and yes, his finishing so far has been poor but after two games, I think it's WAY too soon to be passing that kind of judgement.

Sorry, not possible. Even if you purchase a copy of an image from Getty you still can't reproduce it without an End User Agreement. All photos taken at Premier League or Football League games (and any other of the main football competitions in this country) are governed by Football Dataco licensing restrictions and if you ever buy a photo from Getty or Allsport or Empics or any other agency, they'll all tell you this.
