I wouldn't normally comment too much on any Pompey thread, but that is laughable. I would say this for ANY club in their situation... but if their fans can't rally round and do the only thing they can really do at the moment, i.e. support their club during the 90 minutes, then I have to ask do they really deserve to be saved...?
  4. This targetting of Lancashire is absolutely ridiculous and not really worth further comment, except to say that anyone who seriously thinks about blaming him for anything this afternoon having not actually been at the game, is a bit head-mental IMO.
  5. Get the f*ck in!
  6. Phew. Well done lads. Thought we *could* do it, but wasn't sure we would... excellent stuff.
  7. We concede, they get their tails up and a bit of panic sets in... no great surprise there. Just gotta hope we can withstand it.
  8. What happened for the goal? Missed the commentary...
  9. Was just thinking that... we're giving them a really good game without anything like our strongest side out. Fair play to the lads out there doing their all... still some way to go but still sounds like a good performance so far.
  10. Matt starts for Southend today vs Wycombe. Hopefully a run in a team will help him improve, be interesting to see how he gets on.
  11. So basically it seems this thread is all about trying to generalise as much as possible and draw pointless conclusions as a result. Excellent.
  12. Speaking as an employer, both within large national and multi-national companies, and smaller local (but still successful) ones, personally speaking, when employing in ANY position, whilst experience and qualifications can often give pointers towards an individuals suitability, especially where the experience of qualification is directly relevent to the job, the single most important thing that I judge is the person and their personality, and look for clues to this in their experience and qualifications and subsequent interview and recruitment process. Sometimes a degree may be in a non-related or seemingly superfluous subject but if the individual has applied themselves well then that be significant. I have rejected highly qualified individuals who needed to learn mroe basic human qualities because I knew they would be extremely bad for business. Finding out about the person is the single most important thing in the recruitment process. Everything else simply helps build that picture. Sometimes the qualification is not the important thing, it is how they gained it and what they learnt on the way. The UK education system is far from perfect, but no matter what state it is in, what is more important to me is how any individual applies themselves to whatever academic path they choose.
  13. Whilst there are some bits of what had been posted on this thread that I do agree with, I can't quite believe that this has gone unnoticed. If 'walking down the road, singing songs and acting like dicks' are valid reasons for a group to be set upon then I have no doubt you and many of us have been guilty of that at some point in our lives. Irrespective of that though, if a 'highlight' of your life is seeing anyone be set upon, then you need to have a word with yourself. Bang out of order IMO. I know plenty of students. There are plenty of idiots, and plenty who aren't. Plenty who waste their time at Uni, plenty who don't. There are also millions of non-students who waste taxpayers time and money in a myriad of other ways... for example, those who need policing because they 'set upon' innocent groups of people...
  14. *You* think *you* could see, whereas clearly plenty of other people disagree. Bearing in mind potential is nigh on impossible to judge to us who only see him in very short spells, and not playing every week. I really wouldn't try to claim that you KNOW he won't make it, because history is littered with examples where managers have got it wrong, let alone fans. You don't rate him, or think he has potential, that's fair enough, but personally, I think to judge him as you have done, at his age, is way too harsh IMO. Only time will tell of course.
  15. That's not surprising, and in many respects is good to hear. If anyone was ever happy to leave Saints, or in other words, didn't necessarily want to be here, then you would have to doubt their commitment. Unfortunately, AP has decisions to make like this and if he feels he doesn't have a future here then all Matt can do is get his head down, work hard, score goals, and prove AP wrong. I'm also completely certain that AP would like nothing more than for him to do so. But that's football, and I certainly wish him well, and maybe if he does progress well we will see him back here.
  16. Ground out a good result in the end, under a fair bit of pressure 2nd half but only one real scare as they hit the post and a few half decent, but comfortable saves for Davis to make. Very very happy with the result which is all that matters. Just a shame that we will now lose another central midfielder for a few games.
  17. Ooh, what an effort by James on his wrongun...
  18. We haven't 'resorted' to it... we've cleared our lines when we've been under pressure. MKD have improved and we've had less possession, and less chances to pass it.
  19. So which game is tommi watching?!
  20. Oh I wasn't doubting the fact he was poor and made those errors... just think it's always a bit funny how we lay into players so quickly and so heavily so early into a game. Hopefully those at the game weren't doing the same. Frustration with players is understandable, but look back at some of those comments... totally OTT IMO.
  21. lol, just logged in and read this thread and was about to post asking how people can slate a player after just 10 minutes of a game, even if he has started poorly... and then refreshed to see he had scored. Funny as f*ck.

So you're basically saying that you don't think any of us can think for ourselves and are following orders? The millions of people who share similar views are all just sheep who didn't come to these conclusions by using their own brains and judging information presented to them as they saw fit... oh no... we've all been brainwashed and only you or anyone who shares your opinion is correct?! I will happily discuss this subject with anyone who has a modicum of respect for my opinion and who is willing to engage in healthy debate, but your complete lack of respect and sheer arrogance is stunning. Simple question to finish on: Do you ever respect anyone's views if they disagree with you, or do you always try and bully everyone in the same way?

You think he hints at an agenda. That's entirely your interpretation. Now, no one will know if he has any agenda or not except him, but how sad is it that that seems to be the default position to any article like this... that someone has an ulterior motive or agenda. Why can't it just be taken for what it is? It's akin to changing the law to 'guilty until proven innocent' and frankly this whole debate will get nowhere whilst that opinion prevails IMO.

That article I just posted above highlights it quite nicely, and exactly the kind of misunderstanding that TDD has.
