Thanks for posting that, DPS. I am feeling kinda optimistic after reading that.

17 points from 15 games. I'm optimistic.

Hmmm. Was he really here long enough to influence the intended game plan, I wonder ?
-
Well done Saints. A great reaction to the events at the end of last week. Professional. We do seem to have fitness issues though. This "great first half, poor second half" seems to be a recurring theme........

Just watched Twelve O'Clock High (Gregory Peck). They dont make films like that any more.

I dont agree with you. Adkins's sacking shocked the footballing world. The journos smelt blood and would have done their best to destroy NC and his new appointment. Him not being there removed the red rag to the journalistic bull, and the small delays in translation took whatever wind was left out of the sails.
-
I've spoken to him briefly, once, back in the mid 90s when he was often to be found after home games at Simons Wine Bar. And I agree, he was very down to earth. But his persistent b*tching about the current regime has made me wonder if his pundit role has gone to his head a bit, and I do question his judgement over various issues (Celebration Plaza, Pinnalce, feuding with NC, etc.)

Do you mean Wengen ? Hahnenkamm is up this weekend coming..

I thought this at first, but now I think even this was an NC masterstroke. By letting MP take the conference himself, the target of ire was not present, combined with the language issue (I actually think MP can speeeeka da Eeenglish better than he let on) meant that his first conference was totally defused of confrontation and aggression. Therefore I consider it unlikely that NC will show his face tonight either.

Who has the biggest ego problem - NC or MLT ?

It might also put a couple of players on their toes. There is one in particular I am thinking of (Ramirez)

Welcome to English football in the 21st Century.

I think your comments on NA are a bit strong; everyone is entitled to a bit of a learning curve. But completely agree about Cortese. And I note that as people have clamed down and thought about it, more and more are adopting the same position on this.

Ooo-er...

Whether some of you think I post what I do deliberately as trolling or not, however hard I might try, I am incapable of posting something as inherently stupid as this OP. Without an intervention from a member of the Liebherr family, we'd have no club to support.
-
I take it you 2 can follow and agree to this comment ? Is not the net effect of him "being in control" to appear penny-pinching ? If we desperately need to get someone in quick because of injury or overdue addressing of a weakness, we would be inclined to pay more to seal the deal quick. By dragging it out despite the urgency it looks tight-fisted. I dont know why so many people want to ignore the fact that money talks.
-
He supported Adkins to the tune of 30m over the summer. Hardly penny-pinching. I was talking about dragging out negotiations, delaying the reinforcement, therefore forcing the team to play additional games in a weakened state, for the sake of making sure he always felt in control of the deal through making sure he got what he felt was maximum value for money. Not surprised a slightly complex point went over the heads of you two.

Suit yourself. That wasnt the point I was making and you both know it.

And another load of out-of-context b*ll*cks from Kraken...

Deary me. Resorted to making things up now, have we ?

Cortese is the sort of CEO this club has screamed out for since the PL was started. For far too long SFC was a cosy Fred-in-the-Shed operation whilst the likes of Manyoo and Chelsea went into corporate overdrive. I am not saying I like the direction football has gone in, but since there is nothing we can do about it, he is the right man to ensure SFC can compete in the modern times (if thats not what you want, and you want mid-table NPC obscurity and a relaxed family feeling, fair enough, I see both sides of the argument) He's tough, demanding, rabidly ambitious, but is willing to properly support the manager and squad. But woe betide if you dont deliver.

Get behind the new manager, hope it works, hope we dont see a player exodus. Doesnt appear to me much more we can do..
