  1. These days £20m buys a decent Championship player and £30m buys someone fairly decent from Austria or Belgium. JWP has been playing PL football for a decade and is one of the worlds best free kick takers. He also counts towards the quota of home grown players and is always fit. If Wan Bissaka is £50m, Maguire is £80m and Rice is over £100m then JWP is easily worth £40m.
  2. No idea what that’s supposed to mean, sorry.
  3. Why would we need to compromise ourselves with any of that. JWP has a contract with Saints, if someone wants to buy that out they’ll have to pay what we’re asking. I couldn’t care less if that’s West Ham, Pompey or Slovan Liberec.
  4. So? What do you want, a medal?
  5. Unlike the bloke he was supposed to be marking.
  6. I think we need to lose two more CBs before we bring one in. Rumour is that DCC is on his way to Lyon, Lyanco looks the next most likely.
  7. The only way Dyche is going to surprise anyone next season is if he wins Miss Teen America. As for his team, they’ll probably be sour and wedged in the bottom half until he is sacked in November.
  8. Well, goodbye to another player who I will neither remember nor care played for us, in five years.
  9. I think we’d have won anyway, even having lost two in three balls, we were set quite well.
  10. I went along to watch the first innings this morning but had to leave after that. A bit of a mashup of a team with a couple of new faces in there, young Eddie Jack seemed to have a tough day with the ball but I guess that’s what this competition is about for us. Just flicking through the women’s Hundred on TV, some of these women have a serious obesity problem. We criticise players like Ollie Robinson and Luke Shaw when they turn up with a bit of extra timber but a couple of these players… completely unprofessional IMO.
  11. It’s the art of negotiation, the same as any other club trying to sign any other player. Of course they’re going to try every trick in the book to get him cheaper. It doesn’t matter their profit margins, if they take a £5m hit on every transfer, and make ten of them (in and out) every season, that’s £50m.
  12. The sale was neither ridiculous, nor were people pleased to see the back of him.
  13. There was nothing wrong with allowing Romeu to leave at all, our problem was Diallo continuing to be crap and AMN being useless in every position he played, including DM. Nobody ever talks about how ridiculous it was to sell Lallana, Lovren or Shaw, and they were much better players than Rom was in his last season.
  14. Don't be ridiculous, that's a complete load of nonse.... zzzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzz
  15. As a CM pairing JWP and Lavia were absolutely fine. Everything has a knock on effect, Forster looked much better playing behind Fonte and Toby, they looked better playing behind Morgan and Wanyama, who in turn looked better with Tadic, Mané, Davis and Pellè to play in in front of them. I’ve watched young inexperienced Lavia and gritty Jermaine Wright, I know which one I’d rather have next season.
  16. I find it’s easiest if you put on a pair of extra large wellies and shove their back legs down the big space, in front of your legs, that way they can’t run off. Oh sorry, I thought you said sheep.
  17. Or ‘Cease’.
  18. We didn’t control the midfield because the options around JWP and Lavia were crap, not because those two were too young, weak and naive. We looked far worse when Lavia wasn’t available. If you offered me Charles and Lavia as a midfield pairing this season, I’d snap your hand off. We got promoted last time with Cork, Hammond and Morgan in CM, none of them were big, gritty bruisers, just good players.
  19. We weren’t bullied last season, we were just crap. If we’d replaced experienced Mois and Amstrongs with young Lavias and ABKs, we’d have stayed up.
  20. No. I support environmental causes but this scheme is f**king stupid.
  21. Well good luck to him, I can't say he never tried and as far as I'm aware he's always been likeable and professional, he was just hopelessly ill equiped for this league. As an aside, I eagerly await his first Champions League goal this season and the inevitable, "good enough for the Champions League but not good enough for Saints according to the Saints Web experts," posts.
  22. You know, the more I see of this sports washing, the more I like it.
  23. Fair play I respect that. No, you’re thinking of garlic bread.
  24. I’ll tell you what, you can have genders. I completely surrender the word gender, you can have it to mean whatever you want it to mean, I will simply say that I don’t believe in genders, the same as I don’t believe in gods, religions, the supernatural, astrology or homeopathy.
  25. I think all fan bases, or any significant group of people at all for that matter, contain a moderate number of absolute weapons, Saints included.
